I just started skating ace from thunder. I love ace and yes get the ace hard bushings. I love that can have my trucks tight for my flip tricks and board control at the Sametime. For a skateboarder that weights 320. I love ace trucks
I also have the hard bushings on af1. with stock bushings, I had instant wheelbite stepping on the board ... even with the hard bushings, they are still too squirrly for me for most things. but cruising and slappies work very well with these trucks. I like my trucks rather tight, so ace was a poor choice for me honestly.
Interested to hear your thoughts on deck vs trucks affecting wheelbase. I originally loved Indy’s on 14.25, but couldn’t really get used to them on 14.0, and switching to ventures helped a lot. I definitely agree it’s not the same, but I can’t really put my finger on what it is haha
Yeah its kinda weird. Wb with trucks seems to affect stability and pinch the most. But switching deck wb seems to just give you diffrent control. I haven't noticed a huge diffrence skating the aces with a 14 compared to previously on a 14.25. But the true wb would be affected by a 1/4 inch. Something I want to play with more for sure!
It looks like it was a bandaid when you need stitches. Helps the problem, but doesn't fix it like a different truck does. Why not just tweak the bushings in Ventures or Thunders?
@@cbass801 Just playing Devil's Advocate since I overthink my gear choices, but if you're turning fine on Ventures why bother? You could also put softer bushings in em if its a worry.
@KarstenThoughts also just playing with it cause why not. Ventures are great and have good things and bad things just like the aces just trying everything.
In the first video I had on the aces I had the same clicking. Figured out the washer was shifting under a load (turning). Tightened up the trucks a bit and the problem went away for good! Also switching to the hard bushings it never returned. If you want them really loose you could just get a slightly larger washer and the problem would go away.
Skateboarding is difficult enough as it is. Why make it harder by switching setups? Skate setups thats easly available, as in every store carry the size, shape etc. Make sure your wheels are somewhat similar size, always. Your wheels arent 52mm anymore after couple of months of skating. And... For trucks, Indy's do nothing wrong, but its boring, I know
@@cbass801 But yet we have pro's skating the most basic setups. Tiago and Carlos Ribeiro doesnt have much issues with crooked grinds, even tho they dont lock as good as venture and thunder. Often it can be a small technique adjustment. I find NB 1010s give me crazy heelflips. Fakie heels are super ez with them. NB 574 however... So I have to adjust technique for that.
Bro!! I switched up recently to hards and honestly, it makes all the difference. This hard bushings just makes them Perfect.
I like them alot I think I'm going to give them another full shot once winter comes!
Spanky- who rides for ACE says he uses the 84 as the bottom and the 94 as the top- so its a mix - u might check this out too.
Go for the low aces af1 with hard bushings, great kingpin clearance, better pinch ..give them a try, still thunder high 😊

Ace hollow with the hards for me is perfect

Indy has a short wheelbase, so, skating them on 14 wb wouldn’t work well imo, as with the venture they have longer wb so it bushes the 14 wb out more
Does anybody skate softer bushings up front
I have a friend that used to skate with one side loose and one side tight it's all preference! You can achieve the same thing with softer bushings.
Yea i ride my front truck looser than my back

Ace's have a very good turn only reasons I didn't stick with them were the instability and bad pinch. Fixed one and pinch I can get used to.

@KarstenThoughts also working on a bushing video just haven't finished it
You don’t get clicking noise from those Aces? Mine makes annoying clicking noise. I don’t mind squeaking noise but I hate this clicking noise.

ACE Low baseplates with hard bushings feel great. Also maybe im biased but your tricks look way steezier on those aces.
I have had similar thoughts lol!
Hard bushings ftw

I used to do this. But I tried a few things and realized my skating could improve if I tweaked things around a bit.

@kkfarmedkk you have to also think they aren't publicly telling you every little detail about their setups. They could be even more picky.
@@cbass801 true. pros skate all kinds of wacky particular setups and you would never even know
