Thanks for the years of updates. Gives me hope that I can avoid getting the arthritis I was told I would get eventually. I’m over 2 years out from my bimalleolar ankle fracture and I’m doing great!
Hello! I haven’t seen this whole video but I watched quite a bit of your other ones. I’ve never had an ankle surgery but I’ve had many injuries/inflammations/etc on my right ankle (peroneal tendon subluxation, inflammation, stretched out tendons, etc.) It’s been two years since I haven’t been able to even walk normally without pain and stiffness and swelling. The doctors keep telling me there’s nothing wrong on the scans and I should simply do physiotherapy but physiotherapy doesn’t seem to be helping. I’ve seen many doctors and they keep saying the same but my ankle doesn’t get better. I’m very scared and very lost. How long did your swelling continue for?
I've had the same injury long time ago in 02.2017,you have had in 2013 so It's 4 years diffrence and since then I have been thinking about possible arthritis in the future. This arthritis really sucks and there's nothing you can do about it only slowing it down with exercises. If you don't do anything with possible excessive pain in your ankle due to arthritis you will start walking differently and this will damage your knee above and hip.If you decide to fuse it,same, different walking causing damage to your knee and hip over time.If you decide to replace the joint I've read that people can walk on it only for 10 years od shorter until It's worn out.Fusing or replacing the joint can cause complications, takes time to recover, may not help at all or just a little bit and You słowly becoming disabled with no way out of this.
Could you describe me your present state and how did you brake it?I have damaged(not torn completely) my ligaments(triquetral ligament and mentioned tibiofibular synostosis which is like 4 separate ligaments)along with trimalleolar fracture. This causes instability in your ankle(you can feel it by standing on one leg the good and bad one for one minute)and instability can also help to cause ankle arthritis:D
I enjoyed the convo but i wish he would have talked about post traumatic arthritis

I'm so glad you're doing great!!!
Are you worried about the development of post traumatic arthritis? I’m terrified of this happening to me ever since my ankle fracture

Swelling was on and off for the first 18ish months. Have you tried massage? Are you still icing? Acupuncture?
Hi
Can you tell what type of ankle fracture did you have?
Trimalleolar!
With tibiofibular synostosis damaged and long screw through the tibia removed separately?
