Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- Back in the day, this SUV - the Rambo Lambo - was one of the craziest vehicles on and off the road… and it still pretty much is. Damiano Barbuscia of Franco's European takes Jay for a ride.

Fun :) Well done, Jay Leno.
+Lamborghini Oh wow, verified Lamborghini page!
+Lamborghini I think I'd like to see what an exotic company like Lamborghini could create in 2016 for an SUV :D
The Urus :)
+CockyPenisu ...why am I just now finding out about this... also it'll be more fun for me if I pretend like I wished it into existence.
Can I get a waddup?
Thank you Jay Leno's Garage and your fantastic crew for allowing us to shoot a video on one of the greatest SUVS's made, the "LM002." We cannot thank you enough from Franco's European Sports Cars!!! We want to wish many more years of success on your UA-cam channel, and CNBC show.
This comment should have been pinned. Who is managing Jay's page?
LM002 is incredible! Great Job!
one of many things i appreciate about Jay Lenos garage is that they really try to capture the true noise of each car jay drives, its never just exhaust note. it always sounds as if you hear every part of the engine's operation.
There's two things you can count on in every video featuring an Italian V12...1) Jay mentioning something about an Italian opera, and 2) Jay driving with the blinker on. Love it!
When my uncle visited New York in 1993 he saw one of these parked and he took a picture of it that he gave to me, still have it and its's still an awesome car
Was it in Brooklyn cause iron mike tyson was the only person in nyc to own 2 of them in nyc area ... n the urban legend is he gave one away to some1 in his hood "do or die bedsty!
"I believe it was called the Cheetah, something of that nature.." you're not fooling us, Jay. We know you have an encyclopedic knowledge of every car ever.
I NEVER knew that Lamborghini made anything other than sports cars. This Machine is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
They probably wore off $500 worth of rubber from those tires in that short test drive.
Hey man love your videos lol never ever expected to see you here. Glad to see you're a fellow car lover!
+TAOFLEDERMAUS Jeff what are you doing here lol
Heck no, I couldn't even afford the tire valve caps for that thing.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS You're everywhere!
+TAOFLEDERMAUS But will somebody send you some to fire from your shotgun at that creepy doll?
I remember seeing one of these when I was a little kid, in New Jersey. It was white with chrome accents. I saw it on Christmas Eve and it was amazing!
I love your videos Jay. Always informative and entertaining!
What a stupid, impractical vehicle. Man, I want one!!!
in all honesty, never ever was a practical exotic.
yamahonkawazuki Most if not all exotic cars are impractical.
I was getting upset reading your comment until I read the last third. Then I just smiled.
@@fishkings423 believe it or not, the mclaren f1 had three luggage compartments for a total of 8 cubic feet of space. not that bad (if you're crazy enough to drive a $20 million+ car on public roadways)
Me too!
So freaking cool. Forget Countach and Diablo, this has always been my dream Lambo
I wish you would've looked underneath it.
+Rene Bravo why?
+TurboNation Why not? Like the guest guy said, the overkill they did under it was humorous.
+Rene Bravo Maybe his lift is not rated to this weight?
+YensR Didn't he put that old fire truck on it a while back? I'm sure it could've handled it.
lundphoto exactly.
Saw one of these on the 405 recently. Looks kit-car-ish but that V12 song wow.
I wish Jay would come to Australia and do a video on our old muscle cars like the GTHO 1971 ford falcon or the GMH holden monaros of the time or the SLR 5000 toranas they were mad cars and I am a Ford fan, please Jay come to Australia and look at our old muscle cars. I can guarantee that you will be impressed.
so much this.... :-)
Why waste his time with the slowest cars of the 70ties when he could do the quickest, 1972 Valiant Charger e49 ;)
+Rusty Nutzz VXR8 Bathurst!! Nothing here in the US has that sound out of the factory.
Jeremy Menchaca 265 valiant, then the ford barra
That would be great, PS i really like motor sports down under.
This is one of my favorite vehicles, and Car and Driver's original review is one of my favorite pieces of journalism.
I had the imense pleasure to spent three days in and around one of those things back in '96. I am 2.03 meters (6'7") and it is as Jay said. Back then this car was HUGE. Ginormous even. Now, every Q5 is the same size. But man, what a vehicle... Epicness on wheels...
First vehicle I ever helped detail. At twelve years old I made $75 for waxing the driver side doors and got a ride home in it. That is one memory I know will last the rest of my life. Thank you to the guys at Pennsylvania Motorsports for making that happen.
That thing is pretty crazy. I'd drive one for sure. I wish you showed us underneath it because of that four wheel drive system. Great video as always, Jay!
The “Rambo Lambo”! I loved these when they were out in the 80’s. I only saw one on the road in NY back then. Such a cool vehicle.
I remember when this came out... Holy Sheet $17,200 for a set of those tires!
Price of a new Honda Fit😂
@@AdderoYuu does that prove something?
I like this "kid". He loves his work. And from what I read, he's good at it too.
I love this channel for its content and also to read through all the stories left in the comment section. Thank you all!
Tina Turner had an LM002 but changed the engine and auto gearbox to that from a Mercedes E500 to make it more reliable and easier to drive. Cost her double what it would have otherwise cost.
Damnnn
This car gets better everytime i look at it. And thanks to Jay Leno I finally get good moving images of it.
A very cool fact about this car is that the body and parts of the interior where manufactured by Irizar in Spain, lamborghni sent them the drawings and they had to design the machinery and manufacturing for it. My father was an auto journalist and got invited to see the factory.
There where alo stories and pictures of a man in a very very small village in Granada, Spain who had a large farming company and owned a purple Countach and a purple LM002. Think about the image for a second, a modest village with tractors and seat 600 and then these two spaceships.
This things fuel consumption should be measured in footage, instead of mileage..
+Ander Pendragon
Gallons to the mile.
+Ander Pendragon
Lets not make things to complicated and use liters per 100km
+Ander Pendragon Italian car should use metric
+DUKE NUKEM and you should learn what good video games are
+Tim Dev (Dude. Sweet.) sorry I don't accept your proposal of man love. you shouldn't be cheating on your dad either. the church frowns upon that unless you're under 10 then it's free trips to the rectory just like your childhood.
If I was going to get an SUV it would be one of these. I hate SUV's but I love this LM002.
I've always loved these things since I was a kid.
Reminds me of the vehicles from G.I. Joe.
thx for passing along the car guy culture Jay! so much fun learning bout / playing with odd cars. Maybe ill see ya round Boston again sometime, beer is on me ;)
coolest car ever ! i was able to drive it several times, and made some onboard videos for my channel. epic car !!!
+Cartman22100 yeah, i saw your videos on white LM002, some nice captures and sounds :D
i remember when this came out.. it was the coolest thing on 4 wheels... still a stunning truck!!. your lucky you get to drive it.i had this poster on my wall..
0:38 Yup, just lean on the car Jay!
+Knights2theEnd he kept hitting it with that arm (aka his watch) the whole time....
+jody024 I was cringing the whole time
Fivespeed 302
you get it
+Scott Cameron He(Jay) owns it !!! listen to what that guys says when he first introduced, he said he has been servicing it for a few years since you (meaning JAY) bought it !!
+Little Moe actually he says "he's been our customer for a few years now, ever since he bought it"
I saw one of these in one of my grandpa's magazines when I was a kid and I always wanted one.
Bring it back, i guarantee you it would be a hit! Probably mostly in the hills of Hollywood, but nevertheless a hit... Put some luxury features in it, modernize it, face-lift it a bit, and give the G-Wagon a run for it's money!
+OfficialEpic222 I would buy one in a heartbeat
Well Lamborghini is building a new SUV, just looks like crap (IMO) and uses Audi's new 4L TTV8
meteoricthrone Urus was the name right?
Indeed, the new SUV is wimpy compared to the real deal from the video, and basically the same thing as Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche and Bentley -- along with Lamborghini, these all are the same thing: Volkswagen.
meteoricthrone I think same chassis as one of those q7s
Jay's classic line... "Like an Italian opera...!" Love it :)
Proving he doesn't listen to Italian opera.
It's like a Jeep Cherokee and a VW Thing had a baby that took *all* the steroids.
This has got to be the best show out at the min and not just on UA-cam but anywhere.
is this the coolest suv ever created. absolutely yes
I remember this truck from when I was a teenager, thanks Jay for doing this video cause I've only seen this monster in magazines back in the day.
The "big fat guy" analogy made a lot of sense HAHAH!!
+Adonis Amarante I liked that as well. "The heart and soul of an athlete but he's just a big fat guy now." I bet if you push him the "big fat guy" might move faster than you thought possible... :D
+Mawerick77 My big fat bronco moves pretty good.
It was hysterical. For some reason I thought of Miami Heat Shaq
+Adonis Amarante Makes me think of Kevin James
Jonathan Rabbe ???
My respects for you, Jay. Good taste for classic cars like this
When Lamborghini created the SUV concept, way ahead of it's time.
I nearly bought one of these twenty years ago when no one wanted them. Superb to see you in this one.
I always wanted one of these! I live in Dubai and so far I've only seen one of them, so this is a rare car in Dubai. Fuel consumption is not an issue here. I had a Hummer and I also had an ex-factory owned race tuned BMW X5 that on occasions did 8mpg. Gotta love that.
I had forgotten how much I wanted one of these back in the day. Thanks for the video.
Jay leno never turned off the right hand signal once that whole video
He crosses the double yellow a lot too, because the SUV is so monstrously wide.
He keeps them on to signal to the chase vehicle
thank you jay for bringing us gems like this! awesome.
Looks like the"CANYONERO" from that Simpsons episode.
In the 70s some "Jeep-type Lamnorghini" were made and r-old to Lybia and South-Arabia.
The vehicles looked huge, impressive.
I recently found a French Car-Magazine from the 70s featuring a long, well documented article about that interesting vehicle.
1:50 the lighting makes it look like a car from a car game
On the test drive I felt like I was watching a movie with a terrible sound editor, because the sound of that engine doesn't make sense with what I'm seeing on screen. Great video - thanks for featuring this icon.
I didn't like this thing, now I want one.
I love that Jay often drives like an old man. Blinker on no matter if he is turning or not almost always over the white line. It cracks me up every time. Would love to hang out with him seems like a really cool guy!
Canyonero
Loved that episode!!! Great comment!!!😄
+MonkeyKong hahahahahhaha!!!
+MonkeyKong Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts.
She blinds everybody with her super high beams, she's a squirrel squashin, deer smackin driving machine
+MonkeyKong Smells like a steak and seats 35.
I remember when this came out I lamented over having one of these it was in car and driver this was on my bucket list of cars to have..
77 gallon tank... holy crap. ~$170 for a filling... or almost $500 in Europe.
Gas is gas. And no one says you have to actually fill it, although I suspect if you own this the price of gas is a non factor.
holly crap the price EU vs U.S... that is amazing well done humanity well done, dont think that wars got anithing to do whit it :-)))
Here in Canada where I am $256 to fill.
it's taxes, not wars.....stupid
Stupid you say, wath do you think dose taxes are from genius?
I have to admit, this was my favorite car in a video game from 1990 (Stunts), but I liked the wood trim interior, if only the car could sound like this trough the PC speaker!
What a monster . V12 power
I was a security advisor in Riyadh, SA. That truck was popular in the Middle East. The royals would put 4 guys in the back for protection and the truck was fast for a getaway on the road or dirt. The ones we had were protected by bullet proof windows. They all had air conditioning problems.
Best looking SUV of all time !
said nobody, ever
+ALLAN KEYS Great fuel economy................................said no one ever
+Ibrahim Alhammadi no,nissan murano cabriolet
+Ibrahim Alhammadi Your forgetting about the almighty BRONCO, who makes this look like it's a fugly inbred relative.
Its not really an suv
25 years ago I saw a black LM002 with German reg plates in Armação de Pera (Portugal) with grey leather seating and 4x additional grey leather seats on the back (as mentioned on the video). That was the ultimate Batman beach toy!
If I saw this thing on the road, I'd would swear it's a kit car. Didn't know Lambo made an suv.
+XLPCX I thought this was one of the more popular things lambo did.
Yep, the first I've ever seen and heard on this car...I knew Lamborghini makes Tractors, but that they also at one time made the mother of all SUVs was news to me 🤘
+glock29sf They produced only 301 of them , so not so many
You should look into a show called "Nasty Boys"
+Daywalker_27 car show?
When I was 13 this car was one of my absolute favourites )
Very cool piece
12:10 "Check engine left. Check engine right" - you are not going to see this on a 4 cylinder...
Just cruising down La Tuna Canyon in your Lamborghini SUV. I drove that road almost everyday for 12 years and I've never used that on-ramp, only the off-ramp and on-ramp going the other way.
I need one of these in my life
Extremely interesting and informative!
Stay in your lane, Jay!
When you're driving this beast, the road IS your lane ;)
Oh yes, thanks Jay. I really wanted a in-depth review of this monster.
The tires on this thing when introduced were one off specials around 5K 🇺🇸 $ each.
The fuel mileage is not so bad. My wife and I had an 88 Town Car that got about 12 mpg. Could only go about 200 miles or so on $90 worth of gas. Gas was over 4 dollars then though. Awesome review Jay as usual!! One of my dream cars as a kid.
I saw one of these slogging through Greenwich Village once back in 90-91. The dude must have been struggling with the clutch in first gear, because the sound this fucking thing made was just unfathomable. I read recently that it has basically the same V-12 as the Miura or Countach, so now it makes more sense to me.. imagine an African lion slowly being lowered into a vat of hot frying oil. That's what it sounded like. I was reading about it somewhere not long ago, and the author described it as "the most unholy vehicle ever made". From what I witnessed that night, I wholeheartedly agree.
Thanks Jay and young Franco.
This the Truck Mike Tyson had back in the days driving around Manhattan classic
that sentence gave me aids
Jay thanx, this is still one of my favorite super cars/trucks :)
Didn't they call this the Ramboghini because Sylvester Stalone owned one?
RAMBO LAMBO...
As i know it's not a "sand lip " on the tires sidewalls ,but a water lip avoiding water projection.
It's very common on freight trucks tires.
I think the tires are wide enough to spread the weight correctly without this lip.
When too much is not enough!
those tires! loved these LMs since they came out. super rare to see one
It's weird how the soundtrack doesn't seem to belong to the video... I mean, it's totally unexpected to hear a V12 scream in a military VUS. Cool car, and great video!!
Jay you’re the most famous person in Burbank, Sun land, N.Hollywood and Las Tunas Canyon road. Thank you for being such great person and friendly.
With the aero dynamics and the rolling resistance of those oil drum wide tires, I bet it would feel almost like applying the breaks just shifting it into neutral and "coasting".
Sure there's a lot of force that wants to slow the car down but there's also 2.7tons that want to keep going.
I've never known anyone more than Jay to leave the damn signal on so much : )
THE RAMBO LAMBO
That's what I remember about it when it came out. Rambo's Lambo. This was the coolest thing in the world to me back then.
I remember buying the DuPont registry as a kid just to look at the insane rides for sale. This was one of those rides.
I heard the tires are $5000 each.
And only made once in a while
That paint looks amazing
I have always liked this vehicle. Ever since I was a little kid I had this as a remote control from Nikko. Always liked those super wide tires and style of the body.
Outragous!! You need your own oil well.....
I remember seeing this on the road on Long Island back in the day. It was awesome!
I love how the owners always look so nervous when he takes their cars through the paces lol
I love the encouraging howl of a Lamborghini as you rev it followed by the disappointed sigh when you come off the throttle
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS - hmph
...
Does anyone else see the Studebaker Lark influence?
'[0]\==/[0]'
There was one of these at the Salon de 4x4 in Val D'Isere in 1987. I was working in a bar across the main strip and got to - got a short ride in it. It was destined for Saudi and had a mount on the floor for a large caliber weapon, or so I was told! Seemed enormous compared to everything else on display. Made a major impression on me... Great to see one again!
Jay loves those honey we can do this references lol
Always leaving your right turn signal on haha! I love what you've been doing with these videos and this channel. Thanks for taking the time out to make these and show everyone some cool things that we wouldn't otherwise see!
a 120 is still a lot today Jay, not just back in the day
$233,391.28 O_O
É uma bela máquina.
That's an awesome vehicle! I wonder if the tires comes in a studded version, you know, for the Norwegian winter, we need studs. I wonder how it would hold up in a winter btw., would be fun to try :P
You don't need studs in Norway lol. I live in Northern Minnesota which has a slightly harsher winter than even Norway, and nobody uses studs.
That being said, it would be cool.
That paint is exquisite!
I once saw Mike Tyson in a white Lambo SUV at a thruway toll exit near Albany New York back in the eighties. Similar to this but I want to say maybe it didn't have the truck bed in the back. Great video!
Yeah, he got arrested or got a ticket for drag racing the thing or wrecked it or something I can’t remember.
