Located in the North Maine Woods area of Maine is a 2300 square foot deer camp situated on 8± acres of river front land in Estcourt Station, Maine. Frontier Road Deer Camp, is a comfortable yet rustic home in a very remote location. Estcourt Station is the most northern point in Maine, and accessing Estcourt Station from the US is gained through either the Little Black or Dickey gates in the town of Allagash. From either of these gates, you will pass along 40 miles of logging roads to the outpost location of Estcourt Station. The property is right on the Maine/Quebec border with the home and land existing in Maine and the street in front of the home being in the village of Pohenegamook Quebec. You can also access the property by crossing into Canada in Fort Kent, and traveling west to Pohenegamook Quebec and arriving at 1135 Rue De La Frontier which is the address of Frontier Road Deer Camp.
Frontier Road Deer camp was originally a home and general store built in 1952. The building was purchased and renovated in the early 2000’s into a very comfortable hunting and fishing getaway in the North Maine Woods. The first floor of the home has an eat in kitchen and dining room, 2 comfortable bedrooms, a full bath and an expansive great room. The upstairs of the building has not seen any renovations and is a step back in time to the 1970’s. It is currently laid out as 3 bedrooms and a ½ bathroom with some storage on the second floor. There are also, 2 outbuildings that are in fair condition and could be used as workshops, or storage.
Most deer hunting cabins that I have seen have little in the way of amenities. Frontier Road Deer Camp has public sewer and water and curbside trash pick up provided by the village of Pohenegamook Quebec. It also has low-cost electric power provided by HydroQuebec. This is a recreational property where you do not need to cut and stack firewood, or run a generator to pump water. When you show up at camp all you need to do is open the door, and turn on the lights. Everything is here to make your stay comfortable. The home has a washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator and an electric stove.
There is better than 1300 feet of frontage on the Saint Francis River to explore that is part of the property. The headwaters of the Saint Francis is the outlet of Lake Pohenegamook and a border water with Quebec. The Saint Francis flows down river through the working forest and into Beau and Glazier Lakes. The Saint Francis and the lakes have salmon, brook trout as well as musky inhabiting its cold, clear waters. The U.S. side of the lake is largely undeveloped and surrounded by working forestland which make up the majority of the North Maine Woods area. The forestland in this part of the state has some of the largest bodied whitetail deer in the country as well as a large population of moose and ruffed grouse. Snow mobile riding along both Maine and Canadien trails is accessible directly from the property.
If you have been looking for a camp or home in the North Maine Woods, then look closely at Frontier Road Deer Camp. It is a 4-season home with all the amenities situated directly on the Maine/Quebec border with 8 acres of river front property. This is an area with an international flair in a rugged mountainous setting in northern Maine.
