I don't know how but I didn't realise my stick was so broken until after I had stopped playing this one. I got through the song anyway but its Frustrating looking back at the snare cam and seeing how bent the tip was, its flies off somewhere towards the end . Anyhow tonnes of requests for this track so here it is. The Kick pattern is fairly demanding especially the foot to floor part with the crash. Was thinking of doing some more Nirvana soon maybe one of the lesser known tracks off Nevermind?. Let me know your thoughts below , Cheers (I’m also aware I have a hole in my sock haha :) )
You should do more foo fighters because it’s still save grohl and stuff. I dont know if you have monkey wrench on here or my hero but those would be pretty cool
Dave Grohl is the best grunge/rock drummer. Songs for the Deaf and Like Clockwork with QOTSA, and everything Nirvana has done just proves it. No one plays like Dave. Awesome cover of one of my favorite Nirvana songs!
@@crieverytim music isn't a competition. But how I define a good drummer is being able to keep a steady beat, and the ability to write drum parts that serves the song.
-Breaks already chewed-up stick -Keeps fucking banging away I'm sure Dave would be proud. Been waiting for this cover for months. Phenomenal fucking work.
Rich Raw Dawg drums I doubt colm actually breaks many sticks (or cymbals). If you have good technique you shouldn’t be breaking things and he’s probably the best drummer ive seen on UA-cam technique-wise
@@DanielS10291 wrong - Grohl himself would go thru a whole bag of sticks during a single Nirvana show - you’d see shavings flying up the whole time - this guy does it right
i've watched dave pretty closely and he always plays his flams rL rather than lR. doesnt usually make much difference but in this song i feel like it's key to giving you the time to get back to the hi hat from the flam in the main beat. anyone struggling with keeping in time try using that sticking, makes it a bit more comfortable and less of a rush
This not an easy song to play, but even with a broken stick you played it very well. Those bass patterns are great Colm. I can't play them! Well done my friend you are a great inspiration for all drummers outside there! 👍🤛🍺
Keep practicing it man and you'll get it. Its good exercise for the foot especially the foot to the floor part on the crash cymbal . Its quite demanding
Remember hearing this on my Walkman when first got in utero, Daves drums on scentless apprentice were the heaviest I had ever heard. It confused and pummelled through my mind. That and Curt wailing. Man 😮
Wow this is great. You are the first drummer that I see on UA-cam playing this 100% correctly. A lot of people miss subtle things that makes all the difference as that opening of the hi-hat at the beginning for example. Also your tempo and cadence are just amazing.
What a great setup. Small room perfect for recording drums, top notch mics, top notch cameras and top shelf cymbals. Man, I wish I had a setup like this. Only complaint I have is the no accepting on the drum rolls.
Just wanted to say your covers are always spot on and have been super helpful in learning these tunes. I been playing in a local Nirvana tribute band for fun the past few months, and I have definitely used some of your ideas. You always do a great job and wanted to give you credit! Thank you :)
Man, your left drumstick is actually broken on the end at the 2:00 mark! I'm not surprised, seeing as you drum like a man possessed and the drumbeat requires a lot of heavy hitting. Gotta say, I have been watching you for a while now, and I have been wanting to try playing the drums at one point with Scentless Apprentice, and I love the energy you show throughout your videos! Keep it up and continue abusing your drumkit! Dave Grohl would be proud!

More tool would be fantastic or anything off nevermind that you haven't already played is also great.
Colm Dowling Lounge Act and Stay Away would rule man.

Aero Zeppelin
If You Must
D-7
Milk It
That drumstick took commitment more seriously than many bandmates.
under-rated comment!

Agreed Aidan , cheers
Dave Grohl isn't even the best drummer in the Foo Fighters. Or rather, he wasn't until recently
@@crieverytim how do you even define best anyhow?
@@sifugurusensei capabilities, experience, preference. Probably much the same way you do

Thumbs up for the broken drumstick lol
Thumbs up for your profile picture :)
200th like 👍
maybe territorial pissings next if you haven’t done it already? keep up the awesome covers
This drum beat always seems to find a way into my head. It’s like it wants to be drummed so badly.
Great job at doing so!
This dude emulates Dave Grohl's style so perfectly good fuckin work man
I can't get that kick part for the life of me. Not even using double kick pedal.
This song kicks ass
Not that hard lmao
@@tpc31415 good for you
That left stick held on for as long as it could lol.
Haha it was in bits :)

Thanks a lot elliot :)
Man I can't believe that your stick made it through most of the tune!!
Nice jam and solo (3:45) bro!!
I totally agree :)
Bonham would have been proud of that triplets

@@mskates9805 I didn’t know there was “correct” way to play a flam
3 years later and i still cant play this above 140 bpm 😂
When you wake up happier than ever due to your favorite drumming channel releasing a cover of one of your favorite songs by one of your favorite bands
If you put it in x0.25 at 3:00 you can see the tip of his stick go flying behind him
Lewis Jones I couldn't see it
Look underneath the computer and you'll see it ricochet, it's as he swings it behind him
Well spotted haha :)
Damn, that solo.. So f*ckng awesome! You're great!

This song is so much fun for a foot workout. The flams can trip me up, but you nailed it!
What an awesome cover of a truly awesome song!!!!!!!
absolutely killer, especially that solo at the end

I still can’t get the kicks right in that fast part, its real difficult ahah
Same here
Same. I'm gettin better though!
Just practice it slow and you'll get it :)
You'll get it!
What I found to be really helpful: Go and buy any flavor of Reign, drink it immediately, then you can play any song, even Painkiller 😂
This video makes me want to start drumming again every time i watch it
best drum beat ever in my opinion ! thanks
Agree
Awesome job man! Really enjoyed watching this. Your timing, technique, sound and energy are incredible!
Omg your happy face after a good cover makes me smile every time I see it

Great job man, not a lot people that can pull of this song so well
Bonham triplets at the end. Very nice. Loved the way your stick snapped. Keeps it real.
Punk stick, punk socks! Fine job here - my fav Nirvana song. I can really concentrate on the great Dave drum part.

Flawless dude. perfect!
Wow I really wanna learn to do this but it seems more technical than I thought.
