- We made it to 100! In this episode, Sherri, Chelsi, and Billy look back at the early episodes of the podcast and discuss how it has evolved and become what it is today. They share some of their favorite memories from the podcast and look ahead to what is in store for the future. Sherri also announces her A Quilting Life Academy, an online course for anyone looking to begin their quilting journey. There is a link below for anyone interested in signing up. Oh Chelsi! You just brought back the sweetest memory for me. My grandparents didn’t have a heater. All the heat in their home was from the fire in the living room. She would place several quilts on each bed to keep us all warm. I will forever remember the weight of all those quilts. Thank you for the happy memory you just brought to mind. So fun. I found you in 2023. I knew this year was the year I would most likely retire. I did retire on 12/22. In my prep for retirement I included thoughts of what do I want to do going forward. I've always liked fabric and wanted to jump back into the world of quilting. I consider myself a beginner, but a little more advanced from when I started on this journey 11 months ago. Your UA-cam channel is one of a few that I watch. I enjoy listening to you both and learn something new from each one. Thank you for your positivity, enthusiasm, and genuineness. ❤😊
I thoroughly enjoy the family vibe among the three of you. I also enjoyed seeing more of the family in the episode where Billie's fiancee and your Dad held up the quilts. We never got see any more of them than their hands but it was clear this is a family undertaking. Billie does a great job as the producer selecting topics (like the Halloween episode) and maintaining the balance between keeping the discussion on topic and letting the conversation go whereever it wants to go. How fun. Most of all, I have been impressed by how much Chelsi's quilt designs have matured and become more sophisticated. Sherri, you have a lot to be proud of. Keep it up.
I sewed shorts, pyjamas, track pants etc for my son too - he was born 1991. He loved the shorts made from leftover denim i had. I put a batman patch on them. They didnt look homemade & he was the envy of his mates. Lol. For the pyjamas & track pants i let him choose the fabrics. I also knitted jerseys (sweaters for those in the USA). Happy memories for both him & me
I want to share my 2022 BOM that I made and ending up gifting to my daughter at her baby shower. I love your fabrics and your quilts. I’m ready for 2024 BOM!

On the beginner topic, no one ever talks about how important it is to cut and sew seams accurately. They make it look so easy, but from experience, I know how important it is to be very accurate.
So happy that I found you in 2020! I love your fabric, patterns, & have done your Block of month for the last 3 years!! You both are so talented & love how you share your wisdom & experiences as well as family fun facts!! Billy has been such a perfect surprise! I love all he brings to podcast! Lovely family!! LOVE LOVE LOVE your podcast for many reasons. I like that Sherri recommends books, Billy keeps the podcast moving but not hurried, life updates are sporadic but interesting, also Billy a huge Thank YOU for noticing and eliminating repetitive words such ah, um, like, yeah, ( I have stopped listening to podcasts because of that), new ideas are motivating and inspiring etc . etc. All the time and effort behind the scene is truly appreciated. Even though I've sewed most of my life, I have not been quilting very long. I watch a lot of your earlier videos to help me be a better quilter and love your style of teaching.

I have been watching your podcast on UA-cam for well over a year now, but I really liked a comment made during this 100th episode about going back and watching from day 1 ... and that is what I have been doing between Christmas and New Years! I am on episode 25 now ... I watch/ listen mostly as I am sewing my next project ....I laugh out loud every time Chelsea mentions the hidden tote of beginner flimsys ... she has been struggling with that tote for a long time now, and I am glad we have seen half of them to date ... I am looking forward to part 2! Thanks for everything! Happy New Year to all!

Side note...when I heard about your kidney stone, Chelsi, I thought to myself..wow, I haven't had any in awhile...dang-it, that afternoon I had one drop...i had that stone for 8 weeks before my doc finally had to laser it. Turns out it was 5 mm and would have never passed on its own...hahaha...I've thought of you many times in the last few months! Love your fabrics! Cannot wait for Strawberry Lemonade!! 🍓

The online you tube quilting community really is a great place for me, as I am a younger quilter and have no one in my real life who has any interest in quilting. No crafty friends or friends who sew, and with a toddler i have no time to join a guild etc. So watching your podcast, FQS pod cast, etc really makes me feel like I have some comrades with shared interests who relate to me. Thank you. ❤

Happy days was the very first fabric collection of yours that I had seen in shops when I first got into quilting!
Not to take away from Sherri or Chesi because I enjoy them but some of my favorite episodes are the interview episodes. I've heard of many of those people but knew nothing about them. I hope you will continue to incorporate interviews.

Here's a comment for you. I don't quilt! I sew bags and wall hanging and table runners, but I LOVE your podcast! I love the family dynamic and relationships and I always learn something too. You guys are my favorite podcast for sure!!

Congratulations on 100 Podcasts. How many quilts did each of you make in 2023? Will you add blue to your colors at some point? I just love bue in my quilts, I have to add something from another designer for this. I do love the gray but still need a blue. Have enjoyed you journey, I pick quilts and fabrics I want by watching the podcast and your UA-cam channel. All very important!

Congratulations! I know I have watched for a bit over 2 years. Happy I found you early on. I finished both quilts from your BOM pattern for my daughters. They loved them. One quilt from Favorite things collection and 1 from a Christmas fabric I made other daughter a tree skirt out of last year. I so enjoy BOMs that I can sew on all year. Looking forward to future collections. Happy New Year in a few days.
In the fall of 2020 we had moved to a new to us home and I was new to podcasts. You were one of the first I found. The house needed some love such as all the woodwork needed painting and the grout in the bathroom floors. So I was missing my quilting. I started watching your podcasts on my tablet while working. Great way to learn and be entertained while working.

I remember I was so happy when you had video as I wanted to see what you were talking about. They have all been interesting. Recently found your Podcast. Watched a few times. I gathered you are here in Las Vegas. ( I think?) What area do you live? I'm near the Temple. I'm a little envious since my mom has passed and we had started quilting together. Now I quilt alone. She taught me to sew and was my best friend. Congratulations on your 100th episode! I've watched since the beginning and you have evolved ... with your setting, equipment, great sound, and Billy's involvement. It is a joy to watch a family enterprise! The addition of quilts behind Billy is a little thing, but so fun to see them.

I almost forgot to mention re: the shorts! In the early 90s we were attending a church where a wonderful lady taught a *free* sewing class every Monday night! I was in 4th and 5th grade at the time and attended with my mother, and I made multiple pairs of those crazy bright shorts! 😂 I think she always had a few sets cut out for beginners, though I don’t remember too many other kids attending. A few years ago we found some fabric at my parents house that was about as bright but more floral and girly, that my mother had intended to sew me more dresses than got made at the time - I can’t bring myself to get rid of the fabric because it’s such a reminder of that time, though I haven’t figured out anything to use such loud fabrics for now! (My mother was just glad I took the fabric home with me, lol!)

I thought you were going to do this episode live. And I was surprised to hear Chelsi describe part of her year as being hard. I know she had a painful experience with kidney stones and a pattern issue. But did anyone die? Were any of your children diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness? Did you lose parents, siblings? Chelsi, I’m sorry you were ill and in pain. Many people suffer from chronic pain that causes them to leave jobs that they love and sports such as tennis and golf. You both have a successful business. You had 2 new fabric collections this year and Strawberry Lemonade looks to be a super successful line for you. 2024 looks to be another great year for you all. Billy is getting married. You will have at least 2 new collections and more new patterns. You will hopefully reach 100,000 subscribers on your Vlog. Sherri is starting a new teaching venture. Chelsi you have 3 healthy, happy children. I hope next year is even better for you all than this year!

This is my first podcast that I watched on the actual day of the podcast. In September somehow I came across a podcast.. listened to it.. but decided to go back to the very first one and listened to each one .. sometimes 1-3 a day until episode 100. You covered a lot of subjects and other guests. Really interesting and fun.
