    The first even car I ever owned in the 90’s was an 89 Black Trans Am GTA. Saved every dollar working as a doorman for that car and harassed the owner by paging him daily to sell it to me and he finally did. That car was a beast back then especially for a young kid. Now I am just an older kid and a Black 98 T/A WS6 with 10k original miles, one owner is down the street for sale and it’s calling my name.
    So many modern V8 choices for some good ol American Muscle and it’s wild because I actually didn’t originally like this body back when they released it but now I’d love to have one. Definitely some decisions to make but this one still has the smell of a new car in it.
    That said, that Black Beast looks mean & is super clean, similar the one I’ve got my eye on. Appreciate the video !

      @@CorysCarReview Thanks brother! Appreciate the reply , I live in the great white north so a lot of people put these beauties away , barely driving them because of the short season so you’ll find some insanely low mileage cars sitting in heated garages and next to new condition.
      And lately because of the economy as well as gas prices people are unloading these cars that one day will be on the endangered species list. I personally don’t mind spending a little extra cash to drive a N/A V8 powerhouse, listen to beautiful sound that comes from proper exhaust. Now I just have to go check em out and cross out some of the other options some more expensive, some less money.

    Cool Video! I have this exact car in white. My Dad bought the car new in 1996. I am currently getting the engine worked on and upgraded with a Lloyd Elliott cam, heads and headers due to having the typical LT1 blown head gasket problem, so I figured I would do the upgrades while I had it torn down. Very cool and very rare cars!

    96 Trans Am WS6 original owner here. There were about 500 Formula WS6 cars and about 2000 Trans Am WS6 cars made. So not all of the 2500 are Trans Ams. WS6 is simply an RPO (regular production option) code. It does not mean anything else. People invent things that aren't always correct. As an example, WS4 indicates the Trans Am model code for the Firebird line or Z28 is the performance package code for the Camaro that just turned out to also be the model name. All options have a code even if it were a no cost option. A label showing these codes is on the inside door jamb or the glove box lid depending on the car.

    There were no ram air packages available for the Camaro, that was a Pontiac only option for the firebird formula or trans am in certain years. Camaro definitely had a reverse scoop air induction but it was not labeled as Ram Air.

    • @CorysCarReview
      @CorysCarReview  Рік тому +1

      I never understood why they didn't label it as ram air. I wonder if pontiac exclusively had rights to that. The camaro was always marketed as air induction, not "ram air"

    4th gen Fenders are different as is the interior. People who don't own them don't realize the differences. Also you talk about lowering them.. I have three 4th gens ( also two 3rd and two 2nd). One of my 4th gens is an LT1 (also a '99 3.8 & LS1), lowering them isn't needed. Without lowering 3rd and 4th gens you are scrapping everywhere you go. Also you are mentioning the WS6, there were WS6 Formula's as well. They are more rare.

    Which is better a 96 or 98 in your opinion

    • @CorysCarReview
      @CorysCarReview  2 роки тому

      I honestly would prefer the 98 just because of the LS1 engine over the LT1. The LS1 has more power, but those will be a little more expensive. 1997 was the last year for the LT1. The LS1 started in 98. I also personally like the hoods on the 98 over the 96. Both years are pretty cool though.

    • @mattspontiacta
      @mattspontiacta 2 роки тому +4

      I like the 96 WS6 TA. Cleaner looking front end.
      Power level is very close.
      I have had a 95 formula auto and a 93 Firehawk. Both had the 3.23 gear . I put a WS6 ram air hood and air box on it. It went 13.9 @ 101 mph. It dynoed 280 rwhp.
      The 93 hawk, number 118 was a 6 speed with mid length headers and tune. Dynoed 309 rwhp
      That car went 13.7 @ 103 mph. Would have run better with DRs .
      Beat plenty of LS1 s and also got beat by a few.
      So they are pretty close in power.
      Either way both LT1 and LS1 cars are awesome . I just prefer the cleaner LT1 WS6 front end. I will say I do like the Firehawk hood package on the LS1 cars . Beautiful!
