Great questions, Jesper. In race or peak season, I find my form often sitting in the negative as "the system" doesn't think I've rested enough. However, my body definitely knows when I've rested better than the computer. My form, if negative, is only negative by a little and generally, my form and fatigue are pretty similar. During November and December, my fatigue goes way down and my form way up, but my overall power also dips. It's one of those balances where, to feel at your strongest, I tend to do best right on the edge.
Cool Video. I have my son (12 years old) racing with WSCL, but we are looking to do some road biking too. My buddy recommended the BUDU series at Pacific Raceways. I am going to try out a few races and hopefully get my son out there.
Somehow I missed your comment! Sorry about that! Of course, this year, all racing has been off. I hope you did make it out there and hopefully got your son out there too! If you do make it out after all this is over, connect with me!
It's annoying how Strava requires a power meter or heart rate data to give you a score. I ride at minimum 60 miles per week commuting but it doesn't take those into account at all because I don't use a heart rate monitor or power meter.
It's really based on the activities over the past 90 days. To get over 100, you'll really have to rack up the miles and the intensity. But in doing so, you'll probably rack up fatigue as well. I wouldn't worry too much about numbers. I seem to do my best when I'm between 60 and 75.
You must be doing a lot of Z2 and SS workouts. CTL is really high for this time of the year. Perhaps this is normal for you. :) I haven't seen your vidoes in a long while. He has doubled in size! What have you been feeding him? lol
Well...sort of. A typical week looks something like this (BTW - we'll have a video covering this very thing shortly): Monday - Rest or recovery Tuesday - Harder effort - typically SS, over unders, or upper intervals. Wednesday - Similar to Tuesday Thursday - Zone 2 Friday - Rest or recovery Saturday - 2-4 hours on road at tempo or aggressive tempo Sunday - 2 hours leisurely ride (coffee and/or pastries usually involved)
@@Cat3ForLife That's kind of what I am doing right now but with Trainerroad. My CTL is only at 33 right now. Hope to get it to 50 in 2 months. Thanks for the videos.
The thing that pisses me off is that when i want to follow the curve and increase my fitness without increase my fatigue too much, it means i should rest 5 days after every training :-(
keep your consistency but lower your duration and/or intensity per workout to threshold or below overload until your fatigue gets back to desired level, i think. at least you won't LOSE fitness. theory is in the long run you will accrue more fitness and more importantly do so with less injury. i'm in the same boat as you. sadly we can't have it both ways by my observation. also trying to make peace with it as i am an impatient and hard trainer.
Hey that's the plan! Not 100% committed to it yet but probably so. Sequim and IVR for sure and All the Pacific Raceway😉 boogieman looking to be in great form👍
Our last name translates to Boogeyman in spanish. We aren't spanish, but every time we travel to a place where they speak spanish, we're quickly reminded. Also, it's pretty awesome that people get an email that says "Uh Oh, the Boogeyman stole your KOM" from Strava. :-)
Haha. That's his nickname since our last name means Boogeyman in Spanish. We're not Spanish, Italian instead, but it's still fun to see that email that says Uh Oh, Boogeyman stole your KOM!
So when is you recovered and rested?. Should the fatigue be lower than Fittnes or how? Form in positive or negative?

How should Strava estimate your effort without heart rate or power meter?
excellent information! I would love to meet with you and let you look at my data and tell me how screwed up I am LOL
so in my season I got a power meter and trained with it and now I am at a -60 from is that true or wrong?
I’ve been riding almost daily about 25 miles per day and current Strava fitness shows 82... how come it’s so difficult to move about 100+?

But all of that is relatively recent. We took a few months to really recover, hence the dip in fitness through Nov/Dec.

incorporate very easy workouts, 3 times out of 4
7:13 ... well, an unmotivated heart is probapply not healthy ^^
Yo!!!
Yo! What's your first race for the season? Ice Breaker??
Hey that's the plan! Not 100% committed to it yet but probably so. Sequim and IVR for sure and All the Pacific Raceway😉 boogieman looking to be in great form👍
The boogieman is getting huge
Yes he is! He wears a size 10.5 shoe now and his raw FTP is almost as high as mine now (but he weighs about half as much!)
Oops - replied from my other account...
Americans have a bizarre militaristic way of presenting….
interesting, but REALLY CREEPY calling you son Boogie Man

Why is that? I think it's a pretty cool nickname for a kid actually.
Good videos, however I can’t carry on watching while you call your son the boogieman😣 arghhhhhh Still given you a thumbs up though.
