@@lotherro Funny you should mention that! I have certainly considered selling it but, truth be told, I think its the one trumpet I wouldn't sell. That AZ epitomises efficiency and I haven't played another trumpet that has matched it in terms of evenness of sound/slotting/intonation (including Schagerls, LOTUSs, Baths, Yamahas etc.). For my new job I've moved in a slightly different direction as far as sound concept goes (and in some ways; I found the AZ to be a bit overpowering in the relatively small Orchestra- I feel I don't have to play anywhere near as loudly on this B&S to get it to really light up, which has both pros and cons of course!) but I always want to keep the Shires for what it can offer! I'd be interested to know whether you thought one sounded better than the other in the videos? You're welcome to be totally blunt and honest!
@@trumpetbrain7302 Sorry, I just saw this. They both sound really nice, and you sound very fluid on this one. I hadn’t considered the volume aspect, but that’s interesting and I understand the importance of that in regard to the job you mentioned. I play a Shires Destino and I know what you mean about efficiency. It’s really great for that, and I used to play a Shires regular A, which was a great horn too, maybe a little more orchestral, but not quite as nimble as the Destino. This horn, the one you’re play here, is perhaps a bit more orchestral as well, whereas the AZ sounds a bit more powerful. I might ask this: which of the two horns feels the most relaxed?
Wow, you have such a beautiful tone. Thank you.
Thank you.
Great stuff Alex
Sounds great, as usual. Are you still playing your AZ too?
Hi Nick,
Thank you! I haven't played the AZ for some months but I still have it; time will tell!
@@trumpetbrain7302 if you ever decide to sell it, let me know!
