Thank you. This was actually a big basement room I used to practice in from time to time. Re; the player on the recording. The original recording this feature in the film was based on had Harry James as the soloist. However, for the film, the solo was recorded by British trumpet player Mike Lovatt. Be mindful that if you listen to a UA-cam video claiming to be from the track from the film, the uploader may have simply used the OG Harry James recording, but specifically in the final scene of the film itself, that is 100% Mike Lovatt. The provenance for this is as follows: 1) Mike is credited as the 'trumpet soloist; big band' in the film credits and on IMDB 2) Mike has spoken publicly, and to me personally, about recording this solo. 3) It was a well-known fact amongst London session musicians at the time as the film was a major blockbuster. 4) Nowhere in any of the credits have Marvel made any acknowledgement of Harry James; if a pre-existing recording has been used, it is always acknowledged in the credits. 5) In the process of preparing this recording, I listened to the Harry James recording and the recording in the film extensively; both are excellent but there are clear (subtle) differences if you know what you are listening to. @@trumpetbrain7302 I've found the solution to the question of where Mike Lovatt fits into the film. Watching the Blu-ray the credits specify the Harry James orchestra with the performance of "It's Been A Long, Long Time" - Sony Music Licensing, Columbia Records yada yada, reinforced by the Shazam app's ID of that recording. However the credits do show Mike Lovatt's name as "Big Band Solo Trumpet". The last piece of music in the film as the credits are rolling is a 40s-style chart "Make Way For Tomorrow Today" music and lyrics by Richard Sherman featuring a trumpet soloist - it's obviously a modern recording and it sounds like Mike's playing. Harry's sound on "It's Been A Long, Long Time" is unmistakable and it was clearly recorded using older technology even if it's been massaged for the film. I haven't watched the whole film yet, it's possible Mike's playing appears elsewhere in the film as well. No question that last scene with Steve and Peggy dancing is accompanied by the Harry James recording. @@trumpetbrain7302 My comments are based specifically on the one particular final scene and the licensing credits on the movie which the film industry takes very seriously - they have to, there are legal/copyright issues involved and they pay money to use the recordings. The Shazam technology wouldn't mistake one recording for another. As I say I haven't watched the whole movie yet - it's possible that there's another version of the chart elsewhere in the movie - I'll report back what I find. Did you listen to that other song - does that not sound like Mike Lovatt to you? There could also be other explanations - maybe Mike's group made a recording but he didn't realize it never got used in the film. Thanks for the article it's interesting.

Hi, Well, just to set the record straight (and you should check your facts a bit before commenting) there are numerous sources that confirm Mike Lovatt recorded this solo for the film. 1) Mike himself told me. 2) Mike is credited as the trumpet soloist in the film credits 3) Mike is credited as the trumpet soloist on the cast and crew lists on imdb 4) It was a widely known fact across the London music scene at the time. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback; you somewhat undermined your credibility to start with so I'm not losing any sleep over it. All I can say is, if you prefer listening to Harry James, just go ahead and listen to him instead; he's great!

@@trumpetbrain7302 Maybe there's an alternate soundtrack for the UK/Europe because of some licensing issue but the versions I find of the Steve and Peggy dance scene feature the Harry James recording - no question whatsoever. One of the UA-cam versions I find has Kitty Kallen credited in the licensing information which is auto-generated by DRM software. Besides that the arrangement and character of the recording (it's mono audio) Harry's sound and Kitty Kallen's voice, both recorded with a ribbon mic of the era are very distinctive here's an audible clue - as they're dancing just as Chris Evans is fully facing the camera during the last trumpet phrase just before she sings Harry plays what I work out to be an F that's a little brittle or chipped, which if you look for any other example of the 1945 James recording - ( **not** the later recording from "Harry James In Hi-Fi") you'll hear the same thing - it's the same recording.

@@trumpetbrain7302 I looked at the IMDB listing - it credits Mike Lovatt as "Big band trumpet", doesn't specifically credit him with the end scene performance, I'm guessing his performance is elsewhere in the movie.

@@pongespob You're incorrect. The imdb credit is for 'soloist: big band trumpet' so you haven't even got that right. I have literally sat and listened to Mike talk to groups about, and discussed personally with him too, him playing this solo for the film. At this point, believe what you want; stubborn internet naysayers will never learn so I have nothing further to say. Thanks
