Good mate. I think you should make a Mulloway series. Even if you don’t catch one keep posting the missions until you do. I’m sure you have seen the guy in SA (AussieFisha) and his Mighty Mulloway Quest vids, do something like that. 🤙🏽
I like the longer vids Nev, but tell me, will we see some more of the squid fishing from San Remo pier like you did in your younger vids? I loved seeing them and would really like to see more.
Love your videos mate. I'm an aussie living in Ireland, the only thing you can catch here is covid! I hope UA-cam pay you well, you give me a lovely mix of fishing, weather, and nostalgia.
Long day, still caught a few, not a donut day, the squid spot is a delight, was there Anzac Day 7am foggy til 10:30, squid fished better in the middle of the day. Good to see the big picture, it’s not always catching fish, sometimes it’s just fishing
@@zhenjianyang yes It’s Victorian As a guide, squid like clean water, hunt by sight, want cover to ambush, so look for areas near bay entrances ie queenscliff to ST Leonard’s, flinders and up, around San Remo, fair distance off shore mt Martha is good too google map the areas and find patchy weed and sand reasonably and you’re good to go. Keep in mind if you’re fishing in a kayak, wind and wave size and direction, currents. If you have a big boat then the edges of the deep channels up western port do well.
This Giant Bait Catches Everything.......except my target species. The mantra for any unsuccessful successful day on the water!!!! AHAHA. Great video Nev
Wish my crap days of fishing were like that!!, the Elephant shark isn't really a shark it's from the Chimera species, some call 'em ghost sharks or elephant fish but I just call 'em ugly!!, great vid by the way👍
Your channel is awesome Nev. As a suggestion for a future vid could u take the fresh squid and do a land based session on the Bass or Tarwin or other nearby river.
G’day Nev, I’m not a big fan of the longer videos mate ten minutes or so is fine for me, not sure for everyone else? I hope this answers your question? I’ve always loved going for the great old Jewie, beautiful fish for sure. I have caught a few in my time but no big monsters like some people seem to catch. As usual mate I love your videos and keep up the great work.
Really good video Nev. You didn't get your target species but it wasn't a fish less day. The length of the video doesn't concern me. It's the content, and yours always have something interesting in them. Keep up the great work mate.
The search for the mythological WP Jewfish continues. It’s on my bucket list too, even when you get everything right, you need some luck. Keep trying, I am sure you’ll get one soon. If not the bycatch is alway fun.
Another brilliant video as always! I finally got out on my kayak for the first time since I bought it at the start of the winter. Gutted, I'm too bloody heavy, it sits really low in the water and won't stay upright. Was a refreshing dip though, the water here in Scotland is still only 4 or 5 degrees. What sort of weight is your kayak fully loaded up? Mine is very similar except without the mirage drive but I'm 140kg of Scotsman built like a gorilla. I'm thinking of getting the outriggers so i can still use it, otherwise I'm just going to have to get a small boat! thanks again for the content my good man.
Cheers mate! Be careful falling in with cold water, can get dangerous quickly. I'm not sure on the weight of my kayak fully set up but its a hobie compass. Can look up weight limits etc.
@@NevsFishing cheer mate. Yeah, the cold water can take your breath away. We have a tradition up here called a new years dook. On New year's Day, we go for a dook in the sea (dook is a Scottish word for dipping in water). Last time I did it, it was -8°c and the water was around 2°c and I was just in Speedos 🤣 rules were we had to swim at least five strokes and get our heads under for at least 2 seconds. It took a while to find my bits again after that one 🤣
Hey mate. Just wondering if you have any line recommendations for the sharks? Any price range and I just need to know mainly the lb and braid or mono? Cheers
In South Africa we call your Elephant Shark: a Saint Joseph: You should warn your viewers: That the shark has has a poisonous dorsal fin.spike The trekknetters and West Coast commercial gill netters of Saint Joseph Sharks: will simply snap and break the top poisonous dorsal spike: and then place the sharks into fish bins If s novice tried to handle it : It will spike them very badly. Hot water: Submerge your hand or finger: Will destroy the poison: injected by the dorsal spike I really love your videos: Very nice . Well done : and thank you You can also use more circle hooks and you will hook more sharks in the lip area : out side of the jaw line. We also call the 7 gill sharks: Cow sharks to. They plate jaws are hectic : and you don't want to be bitten by them: For they are Gillotines: Very though and study sharks: Slow in movement: But very powerful: They are like Shy- sharks in their movement of swim . You must also be careful next time bringing in big sharks: Why? Because when they get tired they will roll themselves up the line. And if they "Roll" themselves into your "Anchor" you will be in Big- big trouble. So have a very sharp knife at the ready: Why? Beacuse if a shark wraps itself up in your anchor line: You can quickly cut off your anchor line. You definitely do not want to end up in he water with an out going tide and your kayak being pulled away from you. Hopefully other young fishing kayakers will be more conscious: About hooking and playing big sharks with an anchor line out. You can also have a buoy on your anchor line: and a slip not to set your kayak free
another fun fact about those sevengills is they can actually bite there own tail, makes them pretty annoying to try and drag up the beach to de-hook. are there no nice surf beaches around where you live to target Mullies from? a Mully is a Mully but to me Surf Mullies are a much bigger prize then any from boat.
Thanks for watching!! What did you guys think of the longer form video?
Really enjoyed the video, seems like a good format.

Hahaha thanks mate, was certainly defeated at one stage
Nice video mate
I just have one question what part of squid should i use for pinkies

Good episode Nev, not all fishing trips are successful ones so it's good to keep honest I reckon, show you're still human 😉
Cheers mate! Yeah everyone has their tough days thats for sure, this one wasn't too bad in the end ahaha.
Big squids can be good for Mulloway, just strip the main body into 3 long strips ;)
