I have always been confused why everyone tells us to find the deeper areas both in the summer and winter, yet all we do is fish the flats!? Very confusing.
Agree the information seems to contradict itself. Need warm water in the winter - stay deep where the temp is stable or find shallow water which warms faster. So which is it? And too cold? Yeah Snook will die if the water temp gets too low. This is why their range is limited to just the southern half of Florida. Also seen fish kills during cold fronts with reds and trout even in central FL where the air temp rarely gets below 40. Not mentioned is how oxygen levels are related to temp so maybe a topic for another video? With all that said I’ve had some of my best redfish & trout days when it was quite cold. On the flip side tarpon love hot water but this might be more related to the oxygen thing.
