“रघुवीर गद्यं (raghuvIra gadyaM)”

Sharing with you the genius of Sri Vedanta Desika ... Presenting my choreography for the bālakāṇḍa (childhood of Rama) of this work... A whole kāṇḍa - All in less than 3 minutes!!! To understand Sri Vedanta Desika’s ingenuity, one has to read the Valmiki Ramayana ... The way he has composed is intricate, NOT metrical and yet filled with rhythm, where the pronunciation of words (how long or short, also depending on the meaning and context), the time given for silence in between and the breath control play a huge role! Every word is loaded...To visually and efficiently communicate them requires an in depth understanding ...Talk about tongue twisters- Desikacharya and other greats, not only in Sanskrit, had it all done a few centuries back !
