This beautiful Abhang is written by Sant Janābāi, an ardent devotee of Lord Viṭhobā in Pandharpur. The Bharatanatyam dance conceptualization and visualization is based on the great pilgrimage to Pandharpur, which is a significant event/tradition for devotees of the the Warkari/Varkari Sampradaya.

Back in the day's these dancer's were located in nearly every Temple & they practiced the 64 kalas (arts/subjects), were highly spiritually advanced too & they called themselves Deva-Dasis very much like the dancer's that roamed in the Temples of Europe back in Roman time's.
The colonialists came along & destroyed the rich highly educated Gurukul education system which were in each Temple & destroyed the Deva-Dasi system too & made fake
propaganda that they were used as prostitutes by the Pandits but truth is they were a threat to their expansionist plan.
