    S2 - Pick this if you want to focus on doubles. At the end of the day your goal is to be near the kitchen line and S2 have the advantage.
    Invikta - Pick this if you want to focus on singles Down the line drives and reach is what you need most
    Epic - Jack of all trades master of none
    Control paddles is better since you can generate power. Power paddles is hard to control in resets and drops. Unless you're really used to your power paddle.

      I am curious to know if someone has played with both the S2 and Epic and actually noticed the better control on dinks and drop shots using the S2. If so i would probably go with the S2, but if they did not really notice a difference then i might as well go with the Epic for in case i ever do want to develop a two handed backhand, but not at the expense of losing easier control.

      @@jakewoodisgood1 Control is more about the thickness of the paddle, not the shape. 16mm and above is recommended.

    Hey Keith. Thanks for another very informative video!
    You really clarified the characteristics of the 003 Project paddle, the differences between the 3 paddle shapes, and how to use lead tape to customize the paddle.
    As I mentioned in a previous comment in your review of the 003 Invikta, I bought the 003 Invikta and received the $40 gift card. Combining that with the Selkirk $77 gift card once I provide feedback, which I'll do after more time with it, makes the purchase much more reasonable.
    Unfortunately, I was rained out today, so I've only been able to hit with the 003 once a few days ago in a 2+ hour drilling session. Coming from using the Ben John Hyperion exclusively for 6 months, for me the stock 003 Invikta is clearly not as solid with a smaller sweetspot, but the maneuverability is incredible.
    Given that I'll most likely need to add lead to improve the playability for me, your tips on lead placement in today's video is much appreciated.
    I'm going to play the 003 in stock form one more time (hopefully tomorrow) to get a better feel for it in stock form before experimenting with lead. My first experimentations will be trying your setup as well as the ALW setup, which I wasn't aware of before today's video. I'll let you know how it goes.
    Thanks again Keith!

      Hey Steve, I’ve played against Keith while he has used both paddles. The power difference is noticeable, especially on his drives, however the biggest advantage is going to be the reach. If reach isn’t a concern then I would recommend the EPIC

  • @jakewoodisgood1

    Did you personally notice a difference in control with dinks and drop shots between the S2 and Epic, or is that just the website sales material talking points? Did you personally notice better power with the Epic? hard to choose between the two, i don't necessarily need a longer handle, but if you did not actually notice better control with the S2 i might as well go with the Epic.

    • @ThePickleballPirates
      @ThePickleballPirates  Рік тому +1

      The s2 has a bigger sweetspot for sure and will be comparable in power with the edge going to the epic because of length and the shape of the head. Spin they are identical, S2 feels softer and has the edge in control for sure.

    I have to disagree with your assessment that the Invikta is "head light". Mine came from the factory at 9 points head and I'm sure that's pretty close to standard.
    I like a paddle that is balanced. (i.e. set on a sharp edge, the paddle balances at a point half way between paddle end and handle end). To get to balance...not even head light...I added 8g at the lower rim of the paddle and 25g under the grip because I want static weight without adding to swing weight. After all of my modifications I went fro 7.8 oz to 9.6oz. Now it's a paddle that's on the heavy side for static weight but with good head maneuverability (neutral balance / very little addition to swing weight)
    I absolutely love my 003 Invikta. If head heavy and head light (balance) are things you want to consider in your new purchase then I suggest you learn for yourself what "head heavy" and "head light" actually mean. It's not subjective. It's something you can measure. Almost every good tennis racket on the market tells you up front how many points head heavy or head light it is. But you can easily determine for yourself where the balance point of a tennis racket (or a pickleball paddle) is yourself.
    By virtue of the shape of pickleball paddles (big head; short handle) there is virtually NO pickleball paddle on the market that comes to you from the factory HEAD LIGHT. To arrive at head light you have to add an ounce or more of weight the under the grip of the small handle to counterbalance the mass of the large head.
    Evaluate your paddle for point of balance, change the point of balance by experimenting on your paddle and see what it is you really want, then cut the check for a new paddle that you can modify to meet your needs...because you're probably not going to find a paddle that comes to you from the factory that is balanced , much less head light.

    • @ThePickleballPirates
      @ThePickleballPirates  Рік тому

      How many paddles of that shape have you played? For paddles of that shape which I’ve hit probably 50 or more it’s the most head light. Typically longer faced paddles lean a lot more head heavy. So my review is relative to my experience of hitting and reviewing many of them. But out of these three models it’s more head heavy than the other two models. I appreciate your tennis point system but I have over 150 paddles in my possession and I can grab so many that are more head heavy of that shape. Not subjective at all it’s Called comparison by experience and play time. Even the invikta base model of any of selkirks line is more head heavy than the project invikta.

    • @steveiannazzo5451
      @steveiannazzo5451 Рік тому

      @@ThePickleballPirates It doesn't matter how many paddles of any shape any one person has played. Head light /head heavy is not based on a subjective feeling. The balance of a paddle is a measurable quality - just like static weight is.

      @@steveiannazzo5451 can tell your a tennis guy go get some measurements of other paddles of this same shape and get back to me!!
