With the exception of pasties, turkey tetrazzini, and Swiss steak, my mom made all of these for us in the 90s.

This brought back some great memories-my wife used to make a mean tuna noodle casserole back in the day. Makes me want to dig out some of those old recipes. Great video!

Had stuffed cabbage a few months ago, stuffed peppers several times this year Crock Pot makes it easy to make, pork chops and apple sauce are common meals with saurkruat. Every Saint Patrick's Day we have Cornbeef, cabbage and potatoes.

I grew up in the 70s. My mom didn't make any of those. Once in a while, we would have tv dinners

Let’s make them all have a comeback, although they wouldn’t be the sane without the original cook.

2:38 You call them pasties, we called it strudel.
2:58 Meh not a fan, they had to well cooked to make sure the cabbage was really soft but most time it was tough and chewy in our house.
3:43 Ah yes my mother made these often on of my favourites.
4:36 I still make these dumpling and chicken soup/stew the dumpling soaks up the chicken stock and tastes marvellous.
6:08 Sounds good but my brother is allergic to onions, so we did not have many dishes with onion in them as kids.
7:03 I live in Canada, we have had trout and salmon lots of times but I don't think I have ever had catfish or hush puppies.
9:41 The good old Swanson dinners, for us they were like emergency rations. When mom was not feeling good or if dinner was late because she had a busy day and no time to cook it was Swanson to the rescue. We always had a few in the deep freezer.
11:03 Not a fan, I like bell peppers and I like how creative you could get with the filling but just not my cup of tea.
11:27 I still make pork chops and apple sauce but I also make a mushroom sauce from Campbell's mushroom soup.
12:20 Good economical meal back then before tuna was like $4.00 a can, as a kid I turned my nose up at it but as an adult I kind of like it. I add frozen peas and carrots to stretch it a little more. My wife is the casserole queen, we still have all kids of casseroles. We still have a couple Corning wear Corn Flower casserole pots we use frequently
13:25 My aunt made a version of this and it was so salty you would need a quart of water just to choke it down.
14:31 Gag me with a spoon, oh man I do not like corn beef, I don't like Spam either but I will take Spam over corn beef.
15:23 My wife and I still have this now and then. We both love spinach so I put it in omelettes or she makes spinach salads.

Funny, the only one of these I grew up on was pork chops with applesauce, although I started making pasties a few years ago. We had something close to chicken and dumplings called chicken a la King which was chicken and veggies in a creamy sauce baked with biscuits on top. Always a favorite of mine.

@@frinoffrobis My dad's family was from Kansas City area in both Missouri and Kansas. My grandmother grew it in her garden and would grind it up with some vinegar. Sometimes she would grind beets in with the horseradish. Spicy and good with pork roast and of course pork chops.

I was born in 1970. I'm 54 now. My mom didn't make porkchops, but I make boneless porkchops all the time. Never applesauce.
My mom never made pasties, nor have I. I am suspecting they weren't popular in the USA. Closest we would get is maybe a quiche?
My mom never made stuffed cabbage rolls. Nor have I. She did make stuffed bell peppers (called sea bags-father in the navy)
My mom never made porcupine meatballs. Nor have I.
My mom made chicken and dumplings all the time. With biscuits, not noodles. I have never made it. Not a fan.
My mom never made turkey tetrazini. Neither have I.
At this point, I'm wondering if we lived under a rock. But with my dad being in the navy, I lived in CA, MA, MD, FL and VA by the time I was 14.
My mom never made the burgers(?) with onion gravy. but she did make liver with onions. So gross! and she made us eat it. I have NEVER made liver before.
Fried catfish with hushpuppies. My mom did make fish, but it was not fried. and no hushpuppies. I make fish all the time. Salmon, flounder, cat fish, etc. fried, baked, etc.
chicken fried steak with gravy. Nope mom never made this and neither have I.
Swiss steak. Neither my mom nor myself has made this.
TV dinners? my mom would never. LOL I suspect she couldn't afford them.
Ham and scalloped potatoes. My mom did make this, but it was not a combined dish. Definitely separate dishes. I prefer ham with mashed potaoes.
Stuffed bell peppers. my mom made these "sea bags" as i mentioned before. Unfor, I don't make them because my husband doesn't like green pepper .
Porkchops. see above. sorry I typed live as I watched the video.
Tuna noodle casserole. Yes, but not made the way you described. No mushroom soup. Mac and cheese with peas and canned tuna was how she made it. I make it, occasionally, just like she did. except i cheat and use velvetta shells and cheese. It is my go to comfort food.
Beef strogonauh? (sorry, spell check isn't helping me.) Mom never made this. neither have i.
corned beef and cabbage. Nope. not mom, not me.
    Spinach dip. Nope and nope.
So WHAT did my mom make all the time? We are white, but my mom made lots of tostados and tacos. nachos. refried beans were a staple. We fried the shells ourselves.
Lots of Asian food. Fried rice. . Egg rolls, won tons.
Meatloaf. Sweet potatoes eaten like regular potatoes. Indian succotash, American goulash (I think that is what it was called. noodles, red sauce and ground beef, green peppers, onions)
My mom was always experimenting with food. She loved to try all different kinds. Lots of recipes from the other navy wives (many Asian) and other ethnicities.
tomato soup with grilled cheese is another comfort food for me. Chili and cornbread. She would make mexican cornbread, in which she put cheddar and jalapenos.
Quiche, Lots of stews. Gumbo starting from roux. Lasagna with lots of ricotta cheese.
Ok, she was a good cook, but not a typical 70's cook, I guess. LOL
    enjoyed the video.

I'm only in my 20's and grew up between Poland and Ireland so its interesting how familiar some of these are while others are fully unknown to me
Pasties are still a thing in the UK and Ireland, youre just more likely to get them from a shop rather than making them
Cabbage rolls are big with Polish people, I've always disliked cooked cabbage and would always unwrap them and eat the filling with the sauce
Whenever I see chicken and dumplings I always want to try making it since I've never had it, so kay get around to it at some point
Not sure I'd want to try tuna casserole though, I cant seem to get my nose around canned tuna
