    I had gauchos, patchwork jeans, a (girl's) blue satin baseball jacket, wedge sandals, dittos, etc. I don't care for seeing some of current pictures of vintage fashion, mixed in these videos though, women never had tattoos on their arms in the 70s. I'm sure there are enough photos and clips available from the era.

    • @WayBackAmericana
      @WayBackAmericana 3 години тому

      Thanks for sharing your amazing ’70s wardrobe lineup-gauchos, patchwork jeans, dittos, and a satin baseball jacket? That’s peak era style! I hear you on the photos, though. Mixing modern takes on vintage fashion can sometimes feel out of place, especially when certain details like tattoos don’t match the era’s vibe. I’ll make sure to dig deeper for authentic images and clips from the time to keep the nostalgia as true as possible. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

    Hated the GACHOS and the knickerbockers and my mom thought they were great. I destroyed many pair by sitting on the cement steps and rubbing my bum back and forth to wear the material. I loved the clogs and hip huggers and neon in the early 80’s. Let me tell you the high school halls were really loud between periods because of all the clogs. I made a Jean skirt out of a pair of my elephant leg jeans. 😂

      Haha, fair enough! I’ll own that one-sometimes the photos don’t quite match the voiceover. I’m working on tightening that up for future videos so everything lines up better. Thanks for pointing it out (and for laughing along)!

    Loved! I don't remember knickerbockers, but I was born in 1964, so I may have been too young if they were popular in the early decade. I NEVER stopped wearing clogs, although as I've aged, the heels and souls have gotten lower to the ground. Gravity and all that. Man, happy memories!

    I miss some of these things. Everything was quality made as well. So well some things still around. if remade in these times they'd be so cheaply made and over priced like everything else. haha they are selling a sweat suit and calling it good for Angxiety due to the material. I got one lol it's actually the material that would have been used back in the day. no one knows better anymore. I just want a time machine and just go back in general.

    Maybe Guys wont remember what they were called, but they remember seeing us Girls wearing our "GUNNE SAX" Dresses! We wore them to Proms, Dances, special events, etc. They were probably inspired by the 70's tv show; "Little House On The Prairie." Even for the 70s they were pricey($100-$200 a piece), They sere made of Cotton, Satin Bows, & some lace overlay. They were gorgeous!

    Patchwork print fabrics were popular too. Printed patterned polyester shirts and pullover shirts with partial zippers were common. I didn't like scratchy polyester. Satin hot pants sure didn't have any stretch to them. Kids now probably wouldn't be allowed to wear them to school like we did, LOL.

    I am horrified to see the denim/leather patch short jean jacket. Only because I STILL OWN THAT JACKET. It’s been in my wardrobe for 50 some odd years old now. Bye bye gauchos and bell bottoms. Wide leg pants came in for awhile when my kids were growing up in the 90s, but they weren't really bell bottoms.

    • @WayBackAmericana
      @WayBackAmericana 8 годин тому

      It’s true-gauchos and bell bottoms had their heyday, and while wide-leg pants made a comeback in the ’90s, they didn’t quite capture the dramatic flair of true bell bottoms. Every era adds its own twist, but nothing beats the originals!

      Absolutely! ’70s fashion was bold, creative, and full of personality. It’s hard not to love such an iconic era of style!

    I wore a lot of these in the 60s; none in the 70s.

      It’s fascinating how so many styles from the ’60s carried over into the ’70s but with their own twist. Sounds like you were ahead of the curve, rocking these trends before they hit their peak!
