I much prefer the opening hands intro. Helps understand the decks and plays
I disagree, I much prefer explaining the deck.
Opening hands can fastly become irrelevant based on the draws. And most games the opening hand is less descriptive of the deck explanation the players give.
I'm experimenting with having a bit of both in future games.
@@atmaximumI disagree and think seeing opening hands is more interesting looking at the cards than having someone explain a deck, someone explaining the deck never pays off or matters for me at least
I always just skip the opening hands
I prefer deck explanation, but with cards insert @@MTGMuddstah
Personally i dont care about opening hands but please show the commander on the screen, I dont know what any of these do and I had to look it up
Also during the game some of the cards "shrink" way too fast
The Quebecois is strong in this video haha. I prefer the opening hands intro, but it's nice to meet the people you play with :)
Where are you from if you play with qc player i wanna be part of it 😅🎉
@@PierreolivierLORT just Ottawa haha. We get a decent number of French Canadians in any pod :)
Opening hands only please. Other channels do the intro, and I've never been a fan of it. We watch this for the gameplay and the decks.
The hands being visible at the start in good indeed. I like the human aspect and I can see that it would be very easy to skip manually so it's not a huge thing to deal with...
Huh... the commanders' names on the screen are confusing me... 😅
Intro skipper detected 😮😊
I also prefer the opening hands intro better
I literally was gonna ask for a trailer video to see who are the pilots of each deck!! Knowing the personality tells so much lol
It's cool that you are giving the players you record your games with a spotlight, but the bad audio quality with thick accents doesn't mesh well. The appeal of your videos is exactly that you heavily edit a game to sub 20 minutes and narrate what is happening for clarity.
Opening hands + commanders were a cleaner opening, but I do enjoy seeing your regular players. I'd love if we could just get, like, separate videos where we were introduced to each and we got a lil highlight of some of þeir favourite decks, playstyles, or even preferred arts/frames for cards w multiple styles of printings.
I'm terrible w names and faces, and I'm really trying to remember who was who from videos up til now, but a lil showcase saying, "Hey, I'm _____ and I played þe Breena deck you liked" or "My name is ______ you might remember me from having every goddamned island be a slightly differently framed full art" separate from a gameplay video would help bunches, and give your players well deserved face time
Its nice seeing the players behind the decks. They seem like good people to play with 😊
not a fan of new intro
That dinosaur token should've been destroyed by Culling Ritual as well.
I like the new ideas you're trying out,but I find that some cards are going small too fast uncomfortable. I know that's mostly for known cards or for some with less text. It would be nice,if it could be a little slower or having a more consistent pace, but I can understand if not
I'll see what I can do.
I feel that that's only unique to certain videos. Most of the time there is a pause with the cards on screen. Might just be an editing oversight in this video.
Some of these comments.
Looking at the intro I feel like you can include the commander in the frame. This would mean tho to probably blocking out the person that is sitting next to the active speaker for a bit but I think it can work well. You could have a smaller row of the opening hands underneath, a lot of cards are quite recognisable.
The card zoom that you did with the dungeon at 15:55 ish was nice pacing imo.
You're switching things up and I can tell you care about your friends, making them more than a name and playstyle. You've done things in a way for quite some time, everyone makes some changes eventually to a lot of things and in the end it is your channel. I think its been fun when you've added some unexpected element to your videos as a surprise.
I really like the endgame talks! Its even a bit better with hearing the actual players takes. Where they can highlight something interesting for them or the game overall.
I've watched this channel for many years, I will be looking forward to however you will continue making your videos.
Thanks for all the clearly not first-english-language folks in there to have made the effort to switch to English! It was also hilarious to see Max dying again when he saw the disgusting thing happening 🤣
Love seeing goose mother! It's one of my favorite decks, hoping to play it tonight.
Regardless of what others are saying, I like these intros. Brings some personality to the decks. I would just at least put the commander on screen while theyre talking about it.
I’ve added commanders in the upcoming games barring a few that I have already done. I will also be adding opening hands as well in some capacity
I like the introduction in this episode but I would love to have the card in screen when the player presents their deck
This was a fun theme! I’m not surprised that Jesper has drawn lots of busted commanders lol
Thematic pods? How about one of Ravnica champions of Dragon's Maze?
My god that Troyan Ghalta trigger was insane.
How did the Apex Altisaur trigger stop the second time around? The first time it was cast it finished by fighting Ignoble Hierarch, which would deal the Altisaur zero ending the enrage trigger loop. The second time it always hit a creature with power and it’s not a may ability so it should have fought to the death, unless there was a zero power creature on board that I missed.
The enrage ability is that it fights UP TO one target creature.
@ perfect. That’s what I was missing.
Brilliant game, really enjoyed it.
Great game. I enjoy the new format
Marie’s Goose Mother deck is insane!
I would love to see the gang try pEDH!
I was hoping that Maxime would draw or tutor into a damnation or vandalblast smh
Feel like there were a lot of missed triggers off doubling season and branching evolution.
I may have just not narrated them.
Thematic games are cool. But less player camera time is better. The entire reason I prefer this channnel over other commander channels is the chill music and excellent narration. I find the player interactions on other channels cringe and distracting, and I feel this channel moving that direction.....please go back to opening hands and keep the players off camera.
It will likely end up being a hybrid of both. Probably some overlay of the cards appearing as my players describe their decks.
I enjoy showcasing the people I play with and I feel like it gives the viewer a better insight into what the deck is doing, rather than me trying to remember a game 2-3 weeks after I film it.
That Sek'kuar deck did next to nothing. So disappointing. It's one of my favorite commanders so I was really hoping for a better showing. I found with Sek'kuar that you have to ramp very fast if you're only counting on saccing your own creatures. It works far better if you play cards that steal your opponents creatures. If you steal their BIG creatures, swing with them during your combat and then sac them so you make graveborne for future blockers /attackers. If you only steal small creatures, sac them first, make your graveborne, and swing with them. Either way, you usually can't build your board fast enough with non-token creatures to be a viable deck, so you need to let players spend their mana to make creatures for you.
I like your videos the most of all the gameplay videos on UA-cam, cause it's pure gameplay - don't like the new intro
Shouldnt jahera have dies to the culling ritual, since she costs 2?
She costs 3
Shouldn't the 5/5 Dino token have died to it though? Since tokens have a mana value of 0?
@ the dino got CREATED from the boardwipe happening. Skullspore nexus made it when other stuff died.
4:32 kogla fights the goose mother, which dies, and the Dino is made. The turn passes, the board wipe is cast, and the token remains
i love seeing people explain the decks! i would really like if you could put the commander in screen too! love the content!
Are you From Montréal?
Originally, yes!
So who's the person in the thumbnail ?
Jesper Esjing. The artist behind these commanders.
I much prefer the deck explanation over the opening hands. I would mostly see the commander and skip you reading every single card (that could never be played or discarded).
Mayber showing some key pieces or overall plan alongside the audio of the explanation could be good!
Agreed, and showing the players' faces, even once, gives every game its own identity.
Liked the new intro, great to see your friends :)
The looks of the players you've been doing lately really isn't helping anything. I'd rather they just show the hands at the start and then get to the game like before. Explaining the deck makes sense in person if we were playing but it's not like we're in the position to make counter plays or anything so it does the viewer no good in a replay channel.
Another enjoyable video, to be sure. I love the player / deck intros. It's nice to connect people to their decks / plays. Andrew... just curious. Have you ever been a judge or in the judge academy? Thanks for the content. Always look forward to the video drops
Never been a judge or involved in the Academy, sorry!
Man, where did the flavor go?
I watched this group because the original decks had some spice and theme to them. Nice to see that you're going the way of every other MTG channel that lacks deck themes...
Could you elaborate a bit more on this? The game's theme was literally play commanders done by Jesper Esjing.
@MTGMuddstah
More and more, it feels like people sacrifice thematic coherence in favor of maximizing synergetic mechanics. It feels like "maximized samey-ness" keeps encroaching every EDH play-by-play i see. I usually only see this mold abruptly broken apart by Shuffle Up and Play, but even they're starting to drop this meta-sense of cohesion due to how strong certain cards are.
Personally, this is just "vorthos problems," as i like to call it. I like it more when a deck itself feels like it's a character. It's just a personal preference.
This is why i never let the " let me have one more turn" players live.
Reasonable. But in this case it was more a threat than a deal. Told Marie if I used everything I had I could kill her right now on my turn by using all my resource, one turn for one turn.
Heyyy first!
