  • 6 months later, after replacing my iPhone 14 Pro with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I can finally say it was super worth it. It opened my eyes to so much! I'm definitely partially team android but I still love iOS and its ecosystem. However phone wise, the S23 Ultra wins.

I know the iPhone 15 Pro is out so thats one of them but there is the Pixel, the Oppo phones, One Plus, Nothing... The problem is that customization is enormous on Android, even too much for some people. But it's an advantage, you can have the same person but a different person's personality and that's good. Afterwards with Samsung we can have an ecosystem and he doesn't talk about it, he stays on smartphone vs smartphone

FYI - The app drawer can be set to alphabetical and you can even setup folders within so you only have 1 page if you choose to (I do). Once you're in the app drawer, look for the 3 dots on the upper right hand side and choose either custom or alphabetical. In the alphabetical order, you can add folders and those are also done alphabetically.

If you want basic stuff AND more advanced customization(at least), iOS is stricly worse than Android.

I'm Italian, and like most Italians, I started with (cheaper) Android devices. My first smartphone was the original Samsung S and from there I grew up with its successors. I've seen Android evolve with each update, and I can confidently say that with the S23 Ultra, Samsung has delivered a complete device in every way: performance, hardware, reliability, features, and more. Two years ago I switched to iOS with the 12 Pro. I encountered many challenges and limitations, but the system worked smoothly, without any lag, something that was missing from Samsung devices. However, this year with the S23 Ultra the problems I had before are no longer there. What I indicated on the iPhone is now no longer present; It has everything and works well. Both iPhone and Galaxy have their strengths and weaknesses, which make them attractive and enviable. So, to date, I don't have a favorite device, I bang my head in the choice... damn the day I decided to change

So I'm not completely free from Apple but to compare the iPhone to S23 ultra is literally night and day. I've been with apple since the phone came out and back and forth between the two and Android just wasn't giving me what I was looking for. Now apple is so late to everything and you're so limited to what you can do that's when I was curious with the s23. Soon as I started playing with the Samsung I absolutely loved it and really hated apple 😂. I tease my girl like damn your phone can't do this and that. Great long term review 💯 I've always used Samsung and Apple devices, but mostly Samsung. And I will suggest that you try the whole Galaxy ecosystem next year when you get the S24 Ultra... I think you will enjoy it. It's a very good and capable ecosystem. There are a lot of things that you should learn (like setting the app drawer in alphabetical order, etc.)

But after few months somehow cameras started working again and I switched back to it to see if I miss something about iphone. I didn't. I actually enjoyed being able to customise my phone back again. Now I'm still using that s21, 3 years old but still going strong. You probably should give Apple a go. I did after years with Samsung and the difference is massive. 2 of my Samsung phones died after getting slow and buggy, fading screens, green lines across the screen etc. 2 of my daughter's Samsung phones died, most recently a few days ago her 17 month old Flip 3 the screen just stopped functioning fully, only half the screen works. She hates Apple for privacy reasons and will try Pixel next. I'm sticking with Apple until it breaks, which feels like it'll never happen. I guess that's why Apple hold their value for many yrs while Samsung you can't give away after 3 yrs? You say you've had several android phones - well I'm not surprised, they don't seem to last long. That's probably ok if your idea is to update every 2 yrs or so. I want a rock solid device that just works brilliantly all the time and forever, and my iphone 13 pro max is the best phone I've ever had by miles. I thought I may update to 14 and 15, but the 13 is so good there's no point. Hopefully it'll start slowing down next yr and I can upgrade to 16.

      appletip: dont use cable
      1) buy any magsafe stand or gopro mount and glue magsafe to it
      2) buy smart electric socket
      3) set up automatization shortcuts on iPhone
for me it turns socket on:
      - if battery drops below 60%
      - when I get home
      - if battery drops below 5% (as failsafe)
      When to turn it off:
      - when I leave home
      - when battery is at 80%
      - when battery is at 100%
also set it up so you wont have to be on same wifi to run shortcuts on ur smart home - for example use Homepod mini as hub device.
The only thing you have to do is to put ur iPhone on magsafe (if u position it nicely with faceID you dont even have to touch your phone to unlock it to read new msgs) and then you will simply stop worrying about charging or what port is on your phone. My iPhone 13 mini is virgin and I have never put cable in it.
I am pretty sure you can do the same with android.
iPhone 15 has some feature that in setting you can set that battery will stop charging at 80%. I am not sure how it works if you want to charge your battery to 100%. Imho my way is better but bit expensive.

I've been working between the 2 and have loved the integration so much that I'm getting and iPhone 15 to see how that feels! It's the first time I will have used an iPhone since the 5S! I've honestly found I don't use alot of the special stuff Android has and many of the features they share I have found easier to use on my iPad over the Android tablet. Not that they're difficult to use just that the way they're setup is more convenient that using them is more top of mind and more quickly accessible I find. Android and iOS both definitely have their pros and cons and I look forward to seeing how the other side is these days!

Thank you for sharing a genuine experience. As a long time apple fan I keep reaching for Samsungs and trying them out. I had some of the original galaxy’s and then stuck with iPhones since the 5. I think the gap between the two is how good apple was at the time was significant. However, since the iPhone 11 I think things have gotten very stale. Not only stale but even more expensive.
I feel like your return on new features and experiences with apple is so little for how much they are asking. They have been in the lead for so long yet take zero chances or introduce new features that are ground breaking.
At least for example, Samsungs 200x zoom even with some magic to take a moon photo. Come on, among one of the coolest things to see and it was still done safely as in, no one would use it and hate having 200x. Apple could have pioneered that.
They still haven’t even been kind enough to put colored pixels in front of the camera like Samsung does on the note.
Every iPhone for the past 3 years has been almost the same. Same choices, same features more or less, higher price, still 60hz screens on $900 phones and 128gb of storage.
I like the consistency of the apple experience and the ease of linking everything together. It does help they have their own OS. But it’s been so many years of boring. The latest thing, pushing your fingers together on the Apple Watch. Only to find out you could already do with accessibility. This is the apple we got right now.
I think they need someone else or new teams to revitalize the life into their products. The M1 jump in theirs Pc’s are great but, other than that all they got is a giant notch for no reason, no Face ID, and still for how dirt cheap memory is, it costs you $200 to add more just like the hard drives still in 2023, coming on base models as 256GB.
At the end of the day their boring stuff works, sounds great, has great battery life, great support. I can complain all day but they have a winning formula even if it’s not the best. And I truly hope to move off their devices for a while until they bring back some actual innovations. Not $3500 headsets for the rich.

I think AirDrop is the most annoying to lose but as you said I enjoy a lot more other Android possibilities such as having a proper file system, sideloading, Android Auto, etc. But I'd say iOS still has advantages, at the end of the day it's personnal preference. In my opinion someone who does a lot with tech and isn't too deep into the Apple ecosystem can switch pretty easily and discover new things, it's worth the try!

Since 2014 I was using Samsung mid range phones and the experience is quite good, 2-3 years per phone, I use it 24/7 then i switched to iphone 13 pro max because I wanna try and all the hype made me purchase it, it was good and a beast phone. However, I realized that I am more of an android phone especially when I tested S23 ultra on the store, right off the bat, I knew that was the right phone for me. i was thinking of switching to android again. Apple’s ecosystem is amazing but I think it all comes down to preferences.

i really don't switch. i use both so i could enjoy both worlds. And using both, you can really see the difference between the 2 phones. Samsung S23 ultra really is a beast of a phone. i can literally use it as my handy PC with samsung dex and the multi tasking ability is so cool. whats cool with iphone though is case support. Apple has a wide variety of cases supporting particularly threaded portable camera lenses. That's what samsung lacks. Hopefully oem companies will make cases that support threaded lenses from ulanzi or other companies. Nice video man.

  • @SuperHDninja
    @SuperHDninja 8 місяців тому +61

I also switched from the iPhone XS max to the S23 ultra earlier this year.
The camera experience is so much nicer, with more options and ways to shoot photos thanks to the wide variety of lenses.
The 120Hz edge to edge display is amazing, great for watching content and feels very smooth. I find the small camera cutout much easier to ignore than the notch or dynamic island, this is one of the main reasons why I didn't feel like getting an iPhone 14 Pro.
There's many other things I love about Android, it definitely gives the user more control vs iOS which feels like a walled garden. My only complaint would be like you mentioned, app optimization is better on iOS.
Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to switch, and I think more people who are used to only getting iPhones should try it out!

I was an android user when I was in high school. I got my first iphone in college. It’s been 13 years since I’ve been an apple user. In that time I only bought 3 iphones. The 6 plus, the XS, and more recently the 14 pro max. They all do the job of a phone well. But android has really stepped up their game since I became an apple user. There are many more options on the market and the line between a high end phone and a budget phone has blurred in the android world. Samsung has removed a lot of their bloatware and I wish they removed even more. But they’re moving in the right direction. My next phone will more than likely be an android.
