This isn't the first time Luke see's Laura. Luke is sitting at the lodge where Scotty and Laura had dinner. Luke had a very clear view of Laura as she was standing just a few feet away from him. Luke was more than willing to phone Mr. Higgins and report Laura being out after her curfew.
I hate Geary for what he did to Luke's character but here - love how he immediately communicates his attraction to Laura and establishes the attraction. His "Nice to meet you too Laura" interrupting Scotty's "well, uh.." just loud enough to blot out initial storyline which I don't remember, that's how powerful Geary zero'd in. And this early, pre-Robin Mattson Heather pails in comparison to Mattson’s iconic psychotic portrayal starting in the 80s! What a Great GOLDEN era of GH!

From what I see looking back, most of the women were paranoid shrews & most of the men were always on the defensive & ready to flee for their lives. That's what makes a soap though. And far too many of the women turned into plastic surgery addicts instead of retiring gracefully. That's Hollywood. 😱

OMG! I've been looking for this episode everywhere! Thanks for posting! Been looking for clips surrounding the night L&L were at Lookout Point when she threw his keys away keeping him from killing Mitch Williams. More, more, more!
Thanks. I knew AJ was a preemie but didn't know how far along Monica was...just that she didn't know if the dad was Alan or Rick but believed it was Rick.
I loved the realistic mother/daughter dynamics between Lesley and Laura. GH was so successful because Douglas Marland KNEW how people of all ages thought and felt. Laura was such a realistic teenager--basically good but at times immature, selfish, and naïve. Laura also picked up on the well-meaning hypocrisy of adults, including Lesley and Rick. Bobbie was an excellent villainess before reforming. And Mary O'Brien was the definitive Heather in my opinion--she played Heather as manipulative but also damaged, vulnerable, and even maternal towards PJ.
The beginning pretty much tells us why Laura ends up going to Monica for advice all the time, rather than her own mother. I have always been honest with my son, even if he didn't want to hear it, I wanted him to know the truth. I know this is a soap drama but secrets should not be kept to try to "PROTECT" someone, it usually backfires. It did backfire on Lesley because she would get her feelings hurt when Laura would go to Monica to talk about her problems in the future. This broke Laura's trust with her mother. Many people may think it is not Laura's business to know about L & R marriage. But as we saw Laura had already over heard a conversation and, every one usually ends up knowing everyone's business in PC. So be honest and tell your daughter the truth or someone else will.
Actually, Laura should have shared what she overheard as a segue to asking her mother the question. Laura had many secrets but always expected everyone to be honest with her, which is why she always ended up in bad situations. And yes that is what it is a soap opera!
GH is so new to me!!!! Help me out here. Why does she at times refer to her Dad as Rick? Sorry I need to know because THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING SOAP IN THE WORLD❣️I was born in ‘61 but my mom and grandma watched Payton Place, Another World and eventually, The Bold and The Beautiful... but none of them live up to this depth of writing. I learned that Laura was born out of wedlock. As a student her mother Lesley had an affair with a married professor, as a baby she was apparently taken from Lesley who told she was dead? So like Luke Laura was brought into the world and PC in sad/tragic circumstances. Two lost souls. Rick is her stepdad and he adopted her and gave her his name so points to him for that. Even if he does come across as charismatic as cardboard.
Anne's role did always seem kind of displaced. She came to GH to work as a nurse and stayed with Aunt Audrey. Once Heather was hospitalized after the LSD incident, Anne & Jeff actaully hook up and date for about a year. She dated Joe Kelly for a short time before that, but Jeff stole her away. Jeff later leaves PC to protect his son from Heather with a promise to Anne that he will send for her later. Never happends. He finds someone new, she has a few unstable storylines, then leaves in 1982.
I remember when the role of Heather was first played by Georgianne LaPierre, the sister of singer Cher. Also, isn't PJ Taylor actually the real son of Jeff and Heather Webber?
