This episode that comes straight from the ABC/GH vault!!
Take note of the clapboards at the beginning, showing tape & air dates, and the on screen time counter... The unedited episode doesn't have fades between scenes and there are blackouts in the spaces where commercials will appear (I deleted the long spaces to post on YT). VERY COOL stuff! The picture is CRYSTAL clear!
~Takes place just before Jeff tells Rick that Steve Hardy is his father; followed by Scotty & Laura's meeting with Rick & Lesley when they ask for permission to get married.~
Part 1 -
Scotty & Gail discuss the outcome of Laura's hearing. He tells her that he will do whatever he has to to make good on his promise to marry Laura while she's still under the surveillance of the courts. Bobbie tries to rally Luke to help resume the submarine attacks on Laura. Jeff confronts Heather when he finds out that she's been taking birth control pills behind his back. Peter and Diana breathe easier after changing their home phone to an unlisted number. Steve gets a clean bill of health from Dr. Lombard. (Steve Hardy with his shirt off?? How many times did that happen in 35 years?) Lombard compliments Jeff's heroic efforts to save Steve's life during the epidemic. Audrey is still away and Steve is trying to sugarcoat the reason for her absence. Anne drops hints to Jeremy about his future. Scotty tells Gail that the reason for the "rush" to marry Laura is because she needs to get out of her house. Her parents' marital problems are taking a toll on her. Scotty asks Gail point blank, what time Rick & Monica left the hospital on the night the quarantine was lifted. She gracefully abstains from answering.

I have been watching GH since the 60's. I didn't remember seeing Ivor Francis on GH! Pretty nice that Genie and her Dad were on the show together! Must be a fond memory for her. Fun to watch the old shows. Thanks for posting the GH videos!

Happy 56th anniversary, General Hospital! So glad the show is doing a tribute to the wonderful Susan Brown, who was the epitome of intelligence, compassion, and class as Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin. It's gratifying to know that Laura, Scotty, Bobbie, Monica, and the visiting Lesley will all be in today's (April 2 2019) episode. Like many viewers, I still fondly remember the Luke/Laura/Scotty/Bobbie and the Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan quadrangles, the Heather/Jeff/Diana storyline, and the hospital quarantine back around this time. Great storylines!
I always thought Gail was astonishingly beautiful. I mean, just gorgeous, right up until her last days on the show. Loved her.
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your posting these "rare finds". Just finished watching some of the GH Soap Marathon and they only showed a few episodes from the Golden Years. To me the Golden Years were 1979, 1980, and 1981. I long to see these shows again. They were excellent! Thank you for giving us what SoapNet doesn't.

It was a specialty US cable channel that ceased in 2013 and was converted to kids channel.
This is the exact month when the show began improving significantly, showing great jumps in ratings.

It's nice seeing one of these old episodes that do not dwell on Luke and Laura! I missed the storylines and characters that happened before the whole Luke and Laura barrage.

So agree with you about the best years for this show was from 1979 through mid 1981. I caught some of the marathon last weekend and was a little bit disappointed, that they didn't featured (or maybe I missed it) a storyline from Spring/Summer of 1986, that really put GH back on top for a while, that involved Terry Brock, Jake, Bobbi, Anna Davine, Lucy Coe, Frisco, Patrick & Kevin O'Conner, which was The Laurelton Mystery Murders.
Gail...so classy and elegant.
The were the days when soaps were truly drama with great characters. In the 80's soaps switched from dramas to action/adventures plotlines and lack luster characters... It's the writing that has changed and not for the better...
I beg to differ.... in the 80's GH (at least, the only one I watched) had mixed it up with BOTH action/adventures AND drama, AS WELL AS having fabulously developed characters! Continued it into the 90's and up through the late 2000's! Then Frons, Guza and Phelps got carried away with themselves and decided they were better than they were.

As much as I grew to love Brooke Bundy as Diana I still always resented how they fired Valerie Starret who originated the role. She was an incredible actress and the producers admitted they just wanted a "more youthul actress" to play the part. Valerie had much more of an emotional range.
Mary O'Brian looks just like Jenny Piccolo from Happy days.😄.
It’s amazing how close the tape and air dates were then. I think GH is now about a month or two. Whereas DAYS is 6-9 months. Which isn’t always a good thing when you hate a storyline.
I'm loving Jeff/Heather/Diana scenes, they were my favorite storyline

This one is a rare find from the GH archives from circa 1979. It was originally broadcast on ABC from 34 years ago on that day.
I love these classics episodes when i was a child brings back a lot a memories and moments the speedy ambulance at two o five pm doing my childhood days and my school days richard dean anderson a good actor when from Gh to mcguyer a good character on Gh got his own show but happy 59birthday,to Gh my favourite soap operas a all time.
It was Scotty's hair, he had good hair that year.
I felt sorry for Mary O'Brien's Heather. As nefarious as her schemes were, it was obvious based on O'Brien's brilliant performance that Heather desperately wanted to be a mother to Steven Lars. It was also obvious that Heather knew deep down that Jeff never truly loved her.
I really enjoy watching the old GH . I ran home after I got off the school bus.
Please Heather is full of it. She started a lot of trouble Jeff did love her. Damn she lied so much she don’t know what way is up. So no she is a very troubled young woman plus her mom gave into her ever wish . Why you may ask because her daddy did not care... Damn my father did not stick around I don’t even know what the man looked like please. Now if all of us women who had a father who did not stick around ....Well hell you would have a bunch of Heather Webbers running around out there. JMHO. Rosie out.
Luke looks like his 1991 cousin here lol. I can't tell if his hair has been straightened or the curls are a perm lol.
You might have gotten your answers already but...here it goes: Anne was dating Joe who was Jeff's best friend but when Heather was in the nut house Anne & Jeff started dating. Heather would escape & spy & found out about Anne & Jeff. She always wanted Diana out of the way because Diana unknowingly adopted Heather & Jeff's son who Heather sold & Cal Jamison knew about the sale & was blackmailing for money! Got it? BTW, Anne was one of my least favorite characters.

I was recently watching 1990 Scotty and this Scotty is just... sooo different LOLOLOL... Boy what Laura and Luke did to him. do enjoy bad Scotty though lololol, he's very funny and def ad-libbed a lot. Young Scotty was a bit dull. It is so weird seeing a tender, sweetness to Scotty lol.
Awesome storyline. Does anyone know where I can check the other scenes after Part 19 un til Part 1-5 of Heather Boomerang LSD. I rememeber when I was a kid when my Mother would watch and keep me from going to school just for me to sit with her and watch these storylines. I remember in school too where I had to write an Essay and this was one of my storylines I wrote.
When it showed Steve up close, I was thinking , wow in a way Jeff really does look a lil like Steve.

Georgeanne LaPierre was Juan Epstiens Girlfriend in one episode of Welcome back Kotter. So was Susan Pratt, who played Ann Logan.

Ann Logan is Audrey Hardy's niece. Her and Jeff got very close, when he found out that Steve Hardy was his real father. Also, when Jeff was still looking for his son Stevenlars, both Ann & Jeff got even more close. At the same time Ann had suspicions of Heather or that some how felt, Heatther was manipulating Jeff in some way shape or form on something, but couldn't prove what it was. Heather too sense Ann wanted Jeff, so in short both women didn't like or couldn't stand each other.

sonyab1974 that's because they changed the actress that played Diana. Ms. Starrett who played Diana before Ms. Bundy was very compatible with the character of Peter Taylor.

Forgive me for saying this, but I've thought this more and more............I've wondering what the character of Anne's purpose was on the show???? I"ve seen scenes with her and she's always seemed like a very residual character. I guess what I'm trying to say is how did she figure into the scheme of things on the show......???? How was she related to the Diana/Heather/Jeff storyline? Also, I seen her in scenes with Joe Kelly....were they going out?? Lol, I think I just need some history..thanks!

According to the retcon on "Port Charles," Scotty's bio-dad was a real nutjob named D.V. (David) Bordisso. He did all kinds of whack things to Scott, Lucy, Eve, etc. in 1999, supposedly because he was obsessed with Scotty's late mom, Meg, and her late husband Lloyd Bentley. (Lloyd's the guy everyone THOUGHT was Scott's bio-dad. And I believe he was already dead when Scotty and Meg first came on the canvas, but I'm not sure.)
I loathe Scott's character LOL!! sorry Scotty fans!! Or maybe that whiny voice of his. (not taking away KS IS a great actor)........I liked Robin Mattson so much better as Heather's part. This video is SO CLEAR!!!! AWESOME job posting/video.....THANK YOU!!! All of this pre-story is great. How I wish the David Hamilton story could've been on. I still have no clue what happened. (what I do notice is for several years they used the same background music.....good ol' GH!!!)

Scott was about 5 years old when Lee married his mother, Meg. Lee then adopted him. I don't remember any discussion of Scott's bio dad on GH back in the day, but there was a re-write on the "Port Charles" spinoff where some cartoonish villain came to town and claimed to be Scott's dad. The character was so ridiculous I can't even remember his name.

@@fordcountry420 BUT Port Charles is defunct by now and not canon anymore since 2012/13 when the Livvie/Caleb BS happened. I still don't know why they still have Scottys daughter being dead on PC when PC clearly didn't happened at all. i wouldn't give a thought about the PC timeline anymore guys

Anne Logan reminds me of Elizabeth Webber, they never said who Elizabeth's mother is, only that Audrey is her grandmother...
That's funny because I was always curious about who Elizabeth's mother was knowing that her father was Jeff Weber, and her brother's Steven Lars. .

Her mother was Caroline Webber, the woman Jeff married after he moved to Nevada. We never saw her.

I liked these two together but still prefer CHER's Sis in the role of Heather. Robin was good to. I wonder why Mary was fired? Love the actor portraying Jeff.

Yeechhh...Gail's perm. Hideous. Even if it's a lesser version of the helmet she wore before.
The perm craze was AWFUL back then - especially when men started doing that.
What Jeff sees in Heather is beyond me. He spends 100% of his time defending himself from her paranoia. What a charmer she is. But that's most of the women on soaps & most of the men too.
All the worry about PJ & the babysitter. Never dawned on the parents to TAKE THE BABY with them. 😜
Luke’s perm may very well be the worst hair in tv history. It always made him look like he was suffering from some drawn out terminal illness😂
