We all must remember that a tool is only as good as the users skills. Great tools accompanied with great training and a positive attitude is always a winning combination
Yeah someone not knowing what they are doing could blow up modules with a power probe, or unknowingly bypass the control side with a common ground scope.
Very good video! Seeing the tool in action let's know how well it works. I like my Clore "COB" lights (Light-N-Carry) but even the pocket LED lights do a great job. Doing short tool videos like this one is the best. I hope to see more.
Love the hook It has features no other power probe has. I recently had my positive clamp break on me. Contacted power probe and they said the still had a few cable sets for it on hand and they sent new clamp set out to free. Great customer service.
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics hey ya have 30k views on this video and showcased there product. Never know they may want to give ya little something to talk about. Always worth a try. Ya have great info on your videos. I am much like you Huge fan of Paul Danner Big fan of your videos. I Al about learning everything I can.
Went with the autel ultra at the end of last year, so far no issues, really like the scope and the waveform generator. I had a 906bt for 5 years before this also with no issues. Love the power probes use them every day, All techs are obsessed with lights, were always working in the dark.
Nice video Mario, Great detail and honest feedback shared on each tool, well done. In the last 12 months we tried out many scan tools to cover what we need. Snap on D10, Launch Euro Tab II, Zenith Z5, Autel 919 & the Autel Ultra. We landed on the Autel Ultra after extensive use, The scope is nice, fast set up and overall it's been a welcome addition to the workshop after upgrading from an earlier Snap On. Pico is King but it's nice to have scan tool features and a scope all together with an easy flow. I was always a huge Launch fan but Autel was a much better package. Lights are like drugs to Techs, it's a problem and we should have a group session to address it 🤣
Awesome vid man, i love vids like this. I went to Yamaha school about a year ago and it was my second advanced electrical class where they taught us about using Oscilloscopes and it opened up a whole new world to me. Being in the powersports world we don't use them much but as things get more advanced, It's gonna make my job easier and put me on another level. Awesome light review too. I use a stylus pro everyday in the shirt pocket. There's almost no black paint left on it. =)
IMHO , Autels IM608, Launch PADV r super powerful tool. CGDI s FC200 , MB n BMW vvdi is a must have items since cloning ECM BCM etc r so common nowadays. I used to run with the Autoland ISCAN 3 for years , but my license got expired and I decided to try sth new
the power probe hook has one of the best features....adjustable computer reference voltage WITH voltage drop/up if shorted...BEST FEATURE ON A TOOL I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH
I am a Milwaukee fan boy too. I love their lights as much as you do. ck out my favorite ...its the M12 Rover and its awesome especially under the hood.
Milwaukee M12 ROVER Service and Repair Flood Light with USB Charging. thanks for creating all the great content. one of my favorites
Awesome video, tons of great content. Love the variety of tools you showcase. The uscope and pp3 have been my go to for quick electrical readings. Can’t say enough good things about them. That Topdon looks pretty amazing I will say. Definitely on the top of my list for future tools, I’ve heard pretty nothing but good reviews on them.
U-scope, power probe 3, dewalt impact tools, shop scanner (dont have my own yet), stream light knuckle head had same 1 for almost 6 years now bought a back up about 3 yeara ago only issue is the back strap (screws strip out) but i just use a big zip tie 😁
With the TopDon I do like that I can have my web tabs, my scantool and my scope all in one. But I've had a lot of instances where the dongle just stops communicating with the car. And I have to unplug it and plug it back in so that it will communicate. And when first connecting to a car it takes a long time. You plug the dongle in. And wait. The open up the scantool and wait. The auto detect the car and wait. With my Launch X431 I connect. Within seconds I auto detect. And I'm in. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed so far with the TopDon. I've tried programming 3 cars since I've had it. Which is 2 weeks now. And so far you either need an ethernet or the download says not available. There have also been cars it simply won't see. I plug in my Autel Ultra in and within seconds I'm in. So idk what's the deal with that. But to be the latest and greatest it's slower than Autel Ultra and the Launch X431. And sometimes will lose connection to a car mid diag. Also the scope feature is finicky. If you screen swap while using the scope when you go back to the scope it restarts itself automomaticly and you lose your capture. Again the Autel won't do that.
f=1/t so as long as a scope gives correct time/div, no problem. Low end scantools sometimes display signal without indicating time base. There are odd circumstance where a frequency counter is needed over an o-scope, but I can't think of anything automotive at the moment- thats more for the transmitter world. Nice review - I need to pick up some better tech, and this was straight up.
I always love tool reviews from people who are using the tools every day and I added a few to my Wishlist. One of the things I'm always looking for is the perfect light, which is impossible because of all the different places you need lighting and I find myself always needing more light. I think that is because I'm using 63 year old eyes to be honest. I would love to have one of those Larson Electronics lights but they are outrageously expensive. Could you possible share the link where you found them for a reasonable price? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the great videos.
Great info there! Gotta say I completely agree with the Phoenix Max comments, they are quick to respond if you talk to the right person, however I'm yet to actually have any feedback sorted. I mean I'm have issues with Autovin on nearly everything. Even had a Beta loaded on it today, fixed ALL issues with the car I was connected to at the the of the update, plugged it into another car and all the issues came straight back. For VW stuff I'm finding it very disappointing, I'm grabing my Autel MS908 or VCDS first again, and the Max is in its case in the office. Shame really, as it wasn't a cheap tool and I've only had it 3 weeks!
Next time you need to replace the Power Probe IV take a look at the PP Maestro. Very similar tool with a wireless app that is surprisingly fast. Love the Topdon Phoenix Plus for the price to features.
Great video man! I always love seeing what everyone is using for this or that. To a fellow light enthusiast I gotta say I stumbled across videos of Goose Grip lights and man they look neat! I haven’t bought one yet, but I’m searching hard for a reason to get one!
Great video. I was kind of adding up how much money is sitting on that bench, but then I thought I bet there were a lot of cars fixed and well earned paychecks, and a lot of customer’s money saved by proper diagnosis.
sensor ground and battery ground are not same, sensor ground from ECM HAVE NO noise.. so having multiple ground helps to have own ground based on the need
As a BMW master technician I find most electrical testing absolute so the electrical tool is in the scrap yard aso is what I used . $300.00 in a power probe rather invested in a mechanical BMW special tool. Newer BMW are mostly all bus control and very few relays
Hello Mario. I was about to buy the Im608pro. In your opinion, should I wait for the Pro II? Thing is, I don't want to make a mistake getting the one you have since it fails a lot. Thanks for your feedback and God bless.
Hey Mario if a girl contacts you about a wiring/parasitic draw on an F150 I sent her to you. Battery was dead and a previous owner did "work" on this thing and removed the drivers side door lock so the only way to open it is with the remote. I opened it for her with lockout tools and she asked me if I knew anyone local about her electrical issues so I gave her your info. She said the wiring harness was replaced a year ago also. I think it's a 2013 jacked up F150 :)
great video!! a lot of money invested, good to hear great stuff about the autoland and phoenix max... but when all those tools fail is time to use that tracer round on the car. couldnt hold it srry haha, good thing you haven't use it that says no comebacks or headaches.

Yep these are assets
Those who think it’s expensive, well that’s only if it’s not being put to use
What is the advantage or disadvantage or a common ground?
Convenience. Connect a single ground and then connect only the positive leads for each channel. It also cuts down manufacturing costs of the scope
