I really like how Konami has been on a roll with supporting old archetypes. They give them a fresh coat of paint, taking advantage of how much the game has evolved over the years, while not sacrificing what made them unique Gate Guardian still uses the original Guardian pieces, but they now have a small toolbox of Fusion monsters that can respond to different situations, with the other Paradox Brothers cards getting retrains to support getting the pieces where you want them to be. Yubel now has so many awesome tools to either cheat out or support the Yubel variants, retrains of her cards from her final duel with Jaden thaz now have more synergy with each other, a cool fusion monster that references Flame Wingman that can also be summoned with their archetypeal Super Poly. Flame Swordsman and Exodia even got their own archetypes that support them. The former has a heavy equip, battle focus and the latter is a LP heavy beatdown deck that doesn't focus on the Instant Win strategy. That's just a few examples, but I think I get my point across. Being able to play modernised decks of fan favorite characters or use iconic monsters in a competent way is like a dream come true for tons of fans. PS: 100% agree that Yami Bakura's deck needs a facelift next lol. I would love to see a Zorc retrain, with maybe an archetype to support it based on his older cards
And I think that's mainly bc since the rush era of yugioh came out and they switch to studio bridge for the anime. Especially since alot of people who play the cardgame don't watch the anime therefore we no longer have to follow the anime of TCG and ocg card releases like we did from DM to Vrains. Bc now the rush era does that format of releasing cards for their animes. Which finally gives us way more new cards for each main core booster pack and this all started back in 2020 with the release of the Gaia archetype from then on we've gotten so many new cards and honestly imo thats the best thing the rush era yugioh has given us. No longer having to follow the anime bc we no longer need an anime for the cardgame anymore.
Very well said. I love that modern support for anime archetypes focuses on giving the deck the playing style the Archetype is known for in the show and giving us cool retrains of iconic cards. Konami have done a great job with this kind of stuff recently

After that we get 5 cards support for 2 older archetypes b4 breaking it down to 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 cards support for older archetypes. This is especially helpful bc now instead of having half the 80 card packs being filled with anime cards from the show with only some new cards we now get an entire 80 card booster pack of new cards. To make matter better are the 20 extra cards we get over here in the west to make a smooth 100 card packs which includes a new TCG exclusive archetype which always gets a wave of support after it's initial release.
Misawa from gx for sure. He used to be so cool with his chemistry decks, ring of destruction and perfect counter deck builds. Above anything else: WE NEED THE FIRE DRAGON FROM THE ANIME INTRO
Joey needs a Time Wizard archetype consisting of retrains of Time Wizard, Baby Dragon, Alligator's Sword, and Red-Eyes and we could get a Red-Eyes Thousand Dragon (Thousand Dragon + Red-eyes fusion). He should also get a Lancestar archetype that relies on Dice cards and retrains of Graceful and Skull Dice
If Konami makes that time wizard archetype, it would be really nice if, they support the red eye's black dragon deck as well. that would be pretty badass, Red eyes alligator sword and Red eyes thousand dragon.
I'm just imagining what the fossilized red-eyes would be if they made that one into a card. Maybe just a spell card called "Fossilization" or "Time Decay" and it has a relevant modern effect befitting the name
Really hope we get PaniK and Bonz support to complete the duelist kingdom decks. Bandit Keith would be cool too but he already kinda has some generic machine support in heavy metal raiders
The new cards are unique, and I like them. But as a fan of Magnet Warrior and Gadget, not the player in the anime. I still want them to work as a single archetype, I see both Gatget and Magnet Warrior have good cards as fundamental of a deck, they just need some new support. . Flame Swordsman and Yubel are my favorites. Because they basically still use the old cards.
Bro. Ojamas, Armed Dragons and the Unions are already connected via the ojama cards like Ojamatch and the other one that I can't remember its name for the life of me. I guess you meant like what they did with Yugi's, but they are still connected heavily.
That would be Ojamassimilation. Which to be fair is a bit of a mouth full. Another card that connects them though is Ojama Pajama which acts as a sort of eternal soul for the deck. Being able to search and discard ojama cards, protect your armed dragon and/or light machine fusion monsters from being destroyed by battle or card effect by banishing an Ojama card from your hand, face up field, or Gy. And when Pajama is sent to gy, it can special summon as many of your banished Ojama monsters as possible. So unlike eternal soul it has no downsides.
Low-key, the Neo-Spacian have been good sometimes hahaha Aqua Dolphin, Gran Mole, Dark Panther I think ? They've been played before. But i'm guessing you mean a better deck for them hahaha
What we really need is a retrain of Divine neos not NS because Neo-spacian are just a support for neos to unlock his fusions…any neos support nowadays is also a support for NS……in my opinion a retrain for them will make them less cooler to play because I’m sure if they retrain them their effects will be:”special summon if neos on the field or reveal a neos monster card from your hand to SP them…..then a spin on their original effect etc etc…”.

Yami Yugi already has all of those as Archetypes. The problem is people seem to insist on combong his Duelist Kingdom, Battle City and Final Duel decks together. When that was never how they were played.
Would love a full archetype centred around the Ancient Dragons (Fairy & Pixie), not as a Luna Deck, but as their own distinct archetype. Perhaps it could be centred around using different field spells to keep shifting the pace of play.
I don't think Joey needs a new Archetype, but I think they should work on giving the new flame swordsmans synergy with the Red-Eyes. It would also be neat if they could make a Flame Jinzo, Flame fishermen, or something. Tho if Joey did get a new one, I think Time Wizard/Baby dragon could have a whole new line up. Like different types of baby dragons that can bring different Adult dragons out with Time Wizard(s). Maybe loosing the bet with Baby dragon on the field can let you summon an undead version of "thousand dragon" Other characters I would like to see is maybe Syrus with -Roids that can incorporate Cyber dragons and Cyberdarks into them. Or bring Prof.Banner's Humunculi/alchemist archetype back.

I honestly very much prefer the Buster Blader style legacy support where they just flesh out the lines individually as distinct decks rather than create a hodgepodge where the only connection is, "This anime character used these cards." If the archetypes actually have an identity beyond being anime cards and they could work in tandem then I wouldn't mind a handful of crossover cards (like Amazoness and Harpie, both being based on groups of women in Greek myth, could get their archetypes tied together without it being as forced as "What does Gadget have to do with Silent Magician?")
Personally I like destiny board and Bakura's deck during that time. Would be fun seeing a retrain of destiny board with protection and maybe even less board take-up.
Cyrus needs new playable Vehicroids. Perhaps Cyberdark Vehicroids. Cyberdark Infernal and Exploder Dragon, Cyberdark Red-Eyes B. Dragon, and maybe Cyberdark Dragonroid.
All original series decks benefit from having new Archtypes. But the one I think needs the most help is still neo-spacians. They don't work with hero decks and barely connect to neos outside of the fusions themselves. They've had some support over the years, but most ends up second fiddle to E Hero Neos support or Neos-Hero support. It'd be great to have a mask change equivalent card for neo-specians to get their fusions out, they all still need their NEX versions with upgraded contact fusions with no time limit, and generally would just benefit from having retrains that let them fill the board easier and also won't cost your full hand for a single combo. Call them Neo-Spacian Heroes or N.S. HERO cards or something. That alone would let them utilize Hero support and make them better just like that. I love the love that Neos has gotten over the years, but every time I see the neo-spacians being left behind it just hurts my soul a little
The only potential archetype I would like to see get this treatment are the "Water dragons" that Bastion play in his duel against Chazz. It was clearly that with him being a nerd and all, he was gonna have a deck based around chemistry. I think is a missed opportunity not to fully create a deck based around that. We already have a few monster representing the elements of the periodic table like Hydrogeddon and Oxygeddon. It could even still be pseudo-fusion deck like the original. Although, preferably it should be a proper fusion deck since its from the GX era.
I wish we could get a deck for bastion around chemistry, and a personal favorite a fog king deck, it just looks so damn sick. I think joey could just have a flame swordsman and gearfried deck that utilizes his gambling and vanilla monsters, since he's mostly focused on knight-based warrior cards, so like rocket warrior (and its invincible mode) Jinzo, Panther warrior, Gilford, Baby dragon, time wizard etc. and a red-eyes card specific to joey's deck rather than just red-eyes support, like what Dark magician the ebon sorcerer is for yugi's deck. Give vehicroids a facelift they are just pure ass, they are supposed to be transformers but don't look or play good AT ALL. I also think it's disrespectful that diabound isn't an archetype.
Just wished they made a polished and updated ygo game in consoles that is focused on these neo archetypes to bring back nostalgia fans the old art was fire and but the newer ones not so much with so much meta waifus and not cool ass monsters like 1st gen
Ok, Konami. Now it is time to make Cyberdark roid support. We got Cyberdark with Cyber Dragon support. With Syrus using Zane's deck with his, it would be reasonable to upgrade it to that too. Where Cyberdark Roid Dragon? Rush Duels did a good job in making Meteor Dragon, Summoned Skull and Red-Eyes Black Dragon work well together. Obviously these cards won't have synergy in modern yugioh and they did get retrains, but I feel Konami can adapt some ideas. Like a fusion spell that allows you to summon a non-Effect Fusion monster with 1 material or when you summon these lesser fusions, you get bonus effects that may surpass the effect monster variants. It is such a Shame that despite all the support Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is so unappealing for use. Yes, it got a few niche uses but not as a boss monster. In Rush Duels, you can run only 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon, despite that, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is not only summonable, it is competitively viable. There is a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon structure deck in Rush Duels. I even think they could print the Ritual Spell from Forbidden Memory and make it work like in YGOpro where you can sent 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons from hand, deck or gy to fusion summon vanilla Ultimate Dragon. I would go further and add the additional effect to search Ultimate Dragons signature move from your deck. Chazz' deck is playable with all the monsters you mentioned. XYZ Armed Ojama is a thing with the Ojama support we got. It is consistent enough to even let you summon AtoZ... probably the easiest way to get it out. Check out Rank10Ygo's video on Ojama's, they are mentioned near the end.
Yeah, and then they get around it (naming archetypes) by giving effects that either have that name OR mentions it; because a lot of new effects will say "get a [whatever] card or a card that mentions it" so they can make sure cards are part of an archetype even if they're not named with that archetype.
Wish Konami would have printed Card of Sanctity with its effect but just unplayable, same with Card of Demise instead of the watered down downgrades we were given.
They've tried to retrain him more than once. It's just... Always bad. Granted, he wasn't THAT good even in 2002 originally. Second best tribute monster sure. In a format where only one was really worth your time.
While this is a good strategy I would argue that it’s been around for year just that Konami is actually doing more with it Ask the secret beast deck and the onomopia decks! Even cyberdarks & cyber dragons to an extent
Something I didn't like about the Golden Sarcophagus of Light deck and the new Forbidden Infinite Exodia support is that it felt half done on purpose. To give an example, the Silent Swordsman Zero and the Silent Magician Zero must have had an effect that was activate when they reach a certain level, such that all cards that mention gsol cannot be destroyed by effects and cannot be targeted or banished by the opponent's cards or that cards that mention gsol are unaffected by the opponent's spells and traps and They cannot be tributed or used as material for a summon from the extra deck by the opponent and in the case of the new exodia it should be unaffected by opponent's cards instead of not being able to be destroyed by effects
@@EnergonVladaif they did that then Exodo Blaze wouldn’t work on it due to the “unaffected by card effects” stipulation, besides there’s already an Exodia monster that has the “unaffected by other cards’ effects” (Legendary Incarnate I believe) and considering how the new Exodia fusion can casually reach over 10k Atk thanks to its own effects in conjunction with the new support cards I’d say making it being able to be “affected by card effects” is a good balanced trade off.
Bakura already has some support with destiny board, I still think they could give it more tho because the deck is pretty bad. All of xyz, vw, armed dragons and ojama already have synergy with ojamatch and ojamasimilation, it works a lot better than you'd expect three entirely different archetypes would, its fun although pretty gimmicky.
Yugi’s deck did have a coherent stratergy. The problem with the example decklist you showed is it mixes the anime deck with the manga deck and only at one copy per card. It also helps that Gold Sarc was nothing like either the anime or the manga. So it would feel like it makes no sense. The center card did not mesh with the rest of the strat.
If they just gave us Skill Cards, Neutral or with Characters Faces... 2 communities, Meta Players (Competitive) and Casual Players (Anime Lovers, Team APS..etc) would come together and player base would sky rocket like ten-fold, bring New Anime with old Characters in the Mix and Money tournaments.. and Booom you have ne EA sports 3 AAA Yugioh Game. 👍

A divine neos retrain would be great on top of Neo-Spacian retrains. as it stands, 6 bricks and a great fusion don't mean much.

Obviously these cards won't have synergy in modern yugioh and they did get retrains, but I feel Konami can adapt some ideas. Like a fusion spell that allows you to summon a non-Effect Fusion monster with 1 material or when you summon these lesser fusions, you get bonus effects that may surpass the effect monster variants.
It is such a Shame that despite all the support Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is so unappealing for use. Yes, it got a few niche uses but not as a boss monster. In Rush Duels, you can run only 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon, despite that, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is not only summonable, it is competitively viable. There is a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon structure deck in Rush Duels. I even think they could print the Ritual Spell from Forbidden Memory and make it work like in YGOpro where you can sent 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons from hand, deck or gy to fusion summon vanilla Ultimate Dragon. I would go further and add the additional effect to search Ultimate Dragons signature move from your deck.
Chazz' deck is playable with all the monsters you mentioned. XYZ Armed Ojama is a thing with the Ojama support we got. It is consistent enough to even let you summon AtoZ... probably the easiest way to get it out. Check out Rank10Ygo's video on Ojama's, they are mentioned near the end.

Yeah, and then they get around it (naming archetypes) by giving effects that either have that name OR mentions it; because a lot of new effects will say "get a [whatever] card or a card that mentions it" so they can make sure cards are part of an archetype even if they're not named with that archetype.

Wish Konami would have printed Card of Sanctity with its effect but just unplayable, same with Card of Demise instead of the watered down downgrades we were given.
Now perhaps Summoned Skull can get some decent support.

Something I didn't like about the Golden Sarcophagus of Light deck and the new Forbidden Infinite Exodia support is that it felt half done on purpose. To give an example, the Silent Swordsman Zero and the Silent Magician Zero must have had an effect that was activate when they reach a certain level, such that all cards that mention gsol cannot be destroyed by effects and cannot be targeted or banished by the opponent's cards or that cards that mention gsol are unaffected by the opponent's spells and traps and They cannot be tributed or used as material for a summon from the extra deck by the opponent and in the case of the new exodia it should be unaffected by opponent's cards instead of not being able to be destroyed by effects
Exodia should not to be unaffected by card effects.
@@EnergonVladaif they did that then Exodo Blaze wouldn’t work on it due to the “unaffected by card effects” stipulation, besides there’s already an Exodia monster that has the “unaffected by other cards’ effects” (Legendary Incarnate I believe) and considering how the new Exodia fusion can casually reach over 10k Atk thanks to its own effects in conjunction with the new support cards I’d say making it being able to be “affected by card effects” is a good balanced trade off.

Bakura already has some support with destiny board, I still think they could give it more tho because the deck is pretty bad. All of xyz, vw, armed dragons and ojama already have synergy with ojamatch and ojamasimilation, it works a lot better than you'd expect three entirely different archetypes would, its fun although pretty gimmicky.

Yugi’s deck did have a coherent stratergy. The problem with the example decklist you showed is it mixes the anime deck with the manga deck and only at one copy per card. It also helps that Gold Sarc was nothing like either the anime or the manga. So it would feel like it makes no sense. The center card did not mesh with the rest of the strat.
