- Classical/contemporary microtonal piano music.
My very first public composition.
I live-retuned a Fantom-X8 audio workstation / synthesizer with tune-cli (github.com/Woyten/tune/tree/m...) and used microwave (github.com/Woyten/tune/tree/m...) to render the pitches and intervals of the notes.
The recording isn't perfect. Once I find the time to improve all the small details I might publish an improved recording.

Hi, I don't normally leave comments on UA-cam but this was absolutely amazing and made me cry at how beautiful it is. I love how you've really embraced the possibilities of 17-EDO, and how musically expressive this piece is too, there's lots of microtonal music out there that is very overly theoretical and in my opinion slightly misses the point of experimenting with microtonality. Experimenting with different tunings opens the door to so many incredible new sounds and this piece makes full use of those new sounds, the result is a composition that has so much colour and is stunning to listen to.

If by composing software you mean a software that lets you arrange a piece with some kind of piano roll editor then the answer is: I didn't use any. What you hear is a slightly fixed replay of a live-recording on my Fantom-X8.
To make the Fantom-X8 play 17-edo scales I used my self-written tool tune-cli which is available as download ( github.com/Woyten/tune/releases ) and as a web tool ( woyten.github.io/tune-cli/ ). tune-cli receives the keys I play on the keyboard and sends retuned versions of them back to the synthesizer. There are a lot of tuning methods available that are explained in the documentation ( github.com/Woyten/tune/tree/master/tune-cli#live-retuning ).
For the visualizations I use another self-written program called microwave which can be downloaded at the same location as tune-cli. microwave is a customizable waveform synthesizer and soundfont renderer but in this track I use it for the visualizations only. This it why the green text says "No audio". My plan for this weekend is to make the live retuning functions of tune-cli available in microwave s.t. I don't have to use two tools.
I would be very happy if people could test the tools independently of me and give some feedback which functions could be added or improved. :-)
