Rotary engines are the coolest to me because it shows there is still innovation to be made, I can just feel something coming in the next 10-15 years in terms of ICE engine development that's gonna blow our minds
Hoping you get to rev this build out and see how crazy it goes at full tilt. If you ever go another engine platform in this build just promise its even louder or more insane with throttle response.
I ran the flow for my oil coolers on the scavenge side of the dry sump system in my car, so the is no pressure as it returns to the tank. Just used a thermostat on the tank return line, and it diverts to the coolers if it needs to. Works a treat considering I have a pump designed for a SBC stock car on a 2.4lt 4 cylinder.
Hey I just wanted to give a tip. When grinding and sanding parts don’t risk your fingers on a belt sander. Get a angle die grinder with some 2 inch sanding and and quality scotch brit disc. They work great for prepping small areas before welding or whatever it may be and much more precise!
I love how "pretty simple intercooler install" actually means fabricating all the mounting brackets and piping. To me a simple install is one that bolts right in as a factory replacement.
When you prime the engine before first start you use the oil pump and drive it with a drill or something. You dont hook an air compressor line to it and just blow it b
Assuming that is a screw driven oil pump, you could sand a few thousandths off the screw of the pump creating more clearance in the barrel and will in turn drop the oil pressure.

Bump stops will help with the rubbing, try massaging the oil pump tight clarence's build high oil pressure if you massage it a little bit to loosen up the clearances that should lower the oil pressure for you Adam. Badass car you and your team are building. Can't wait to see you ripping it
Up the oil line diameter size by 15% should help bring it down. Otherwise that oil sump needs to come off and be upped in size. Love the 4 rotor though!
My built FA20 will go up to 150PSI on cold start, but has a relief valve so won’t go higher, even with RPM. I feel like you have a much bigger issue than 160PSI if your blowing coolers!
16:00 They’re laughing about twin turbos dropping the oil pressure but that might actually work 😂 Two good sized turbos to feed that motor would probably take a decent bit of oil to lube them
Could you not just underdrive the oil pump? I’m not that familiar with dry sumps but I would think you could put a bigger pulley on the oil pump and have it spinning at a lower rpm meaning less oil pressure.

cop one a axle off whatever model e36 you drive off a junk yard car or some part out, its aint expensive and its easy bro get yo car running 🤝 (preferably get stronger axles like m3s however it would need diff flanges swapped or m3 diff)

Try changing the dry sump pulley and see if it fixes it coz it looks like it’s a 1 to 1 ratio and it spinning like crazy

Seeing that you have a dry sump, couldn't you just change the pulleys to spin the dry sump slower thus lowering your oil pressure
For a short term fix for oil pressure, do 2 Y fittings of the smaller and Y back to the larger hose.
Hoping you get to rev this build out and see how crazy it goes at full tilt. If you ever go another engine platform in this build just promise its even louder or more insane with throttle response.

If the pressure is spiking before the filter and cooler you have a flow issue. Something is a big restriction after the pump, before the engine
why not just down gear the dry sump pump to flow less oil/build less pressure??

Have a look at oil coolers off heavy equipment, they run stupid PSI
you can run the oil pump with a powerful drill or something like that (engin off, on the lift)
Most people use a drill on the dry sump to run oil through it.
still no heat shield between the intake runners and exhaust headers? are you gonna always run without a hood?
