Currently have the same hydropower with a carbon and a charcoal filter for solar panel cleaning. Unfortunately here in Vegas we average 400-500ppm so that went fast. Been scouring the Internet for a clear straight forward RO set up till now. Thank you! I’ll be ordering a membrane housing tonight!
Also What’s the flow rate on that membrane? I’ve been finding little 50-150gpd membrane but I don’t think that’s enough for any window/solar panel cleaning
When buying a 4040 membrane. What should I look for? I see there are low pressure, brackish, sea water etc... will a brackish water membrane do the job?
Hey Luke! Get the low pressure HF5 from Axeon. They work with lower pressure so you may not need a booster pump system. The HF5 or a membrane with similar specs. We use WATTS and have a deal with a distributor friend. Try to cut out the middle man and buy a few (make sure for certain they're the correct ones) so you always have a back up!
This is better then my 2400 dollor 4 stage system I got when I first started. Im building one on my truck. Where did you get that RO Casing and membrane from. Im in Canada to Thanks for the great videos
How many gallons per minute does that produce? I keep seeing all these sub 1gpm numbers.......need something along 1.8 or 2 to really get a good flush--especially after hurricanes!!!!
In our experience, even with first cleans after decades anything over 1 gallon per minute coming out of two pencil jets is over kill. With our systems it depends on the in coming psi. We have a steady 80 psi and it produces about .75 to 1 gallon per minute.
Could you provide more details on the Osmose membrane characteristic ? how much GPD is it ? and what is the minimum GPD for the filter and the membrane to output at least 1 Gallon / minute ? Thanks Yves
links to where to get the parts would be nice... especially the RO holder, filter, and valve...,, also most places around here are 40 50 psi out of the tap is that enough to work?
We're located in Canada so you'll have to source them in the US. I'm sure it'll be easier down there to find the components because you have a much much larger selection then we do. It wouldn't be worth your money to ship items form CA to the USA. Most RO Membranes being used are rated for 80 psi ideally and the cheap Asian made Membranes are rated for 100 psi ideally. So, at 40 or 50 psi you're almost certainly going to need a booster pump. Unless... what's your tds in your service area? You might get away with DI resin only. In which case you can run any amount of psi and gpm and get a good amount of flow.
I was saving up 2000 USD to buy a pre-built system , I am glad I found your video . Do you know the connections i would need to hook up the whole sytem.
Hey there! I'm happy that you're able to save some of that hard earned cash! My best advice is to build it with the most readily available connections. I only use standard garden hose connections that I can find at any local hardware store. That way if something goes wrong in the field you can be up and running fast!
@@nettoyageadriance I have figured most of them out, except the valve that the waste comes out of, do you. Close it to build pressure then open it a little bit, all the way, ?
@@PaLoHQ For that valve ( RO waste water ) I just use a garden hose shut off valve. DO NOT close it all the way with the water running. You can build too much pressure up and crack/burst your housing. Let the full pressure flow (valve open) for a few minutes to prep your membrane and then slowly start to close it (not completely) to build up the pressure inside the membrane. Do this until you start to get water trickling out of your pure water outlet. Keep closing it until you get the desired amount of pure water to waste water ratio. I measure the pure with a tds meter until I get about 90-95% efficiency. At the end of the day (or the beginning of each break) fully open the waste valve and let it run to clean out the membrane. I leave it running until I've picked up everything else and stored it in the vehicle so as to let the membrane clean out the waste as long as possible.
cc c @wcskills Mark Strange of the Window Cleaning Store can hook you up. If not, there's plenty of water filtration companies in Canada that can send you a quality membrane. What's your tds measurement?

Nice vid. How often do you replace your Carbon and RO filter?
Great question. Because Carbon filters are so cheap (buy them in bulk) I change them out every 20 hours of use or so just to be safe.
Hi
This is very good, i made some notes of the items to get them in uk prices £ for myself
Thanks
Can u drop a link on what kind of valve you use on your RO system? Thanks
Hey John! Literally every connector on my set up can be found at your average hardware store.

Thanks! I go through a local Canadian water filter seller. Contact: Rob MacPhee • rob.allclearwater@gmail.com
Thanks for the video! I'm from Manitoba, and having a wicked hard time finding the RO housing. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for the clear explanation for a newbie👍🏼👍🏼

Hey man. Im looking to add an R/O system to my DI tank. What do you recommend?
Hi Guys, is the RO Membrane you use a 4' diameter? Also, what size carbon filter do you use?

Where did you get the ro at ? Thx!
vcash holdfast We get our ro membranes and other filter from a water purification supply company. There's also windowcleaner.com
very cool DIY kit.
RO membranes in Ontario Canada can you point me in the right direction?

city around 65 to 85
building a ro di cart system similar to marks just need a membrane thanks for your help.
cc c 65-85 is pretty good. If you run that through a quality ro membrane your di will last forever.... That is if you even need a di!
So you just buy the membrane and built the the housing?
Mr. Pure Water in Montreal good day sir! I think you should make these and sell them to us and save the hassle and make a few bucks in the process :)
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
very interesting :)
