Just to let ya know I watched this video, went to the park and learned 50-50s on the round bar today. Did exactly what you did and it was great, very great tips.
Rails are straight confidence. Best life lesson I learned from skateboarding. If you just go for it, you'll usually make it out just fine or land the trick. Really rare to eat crap. Same applies for life goals. Just gotta commit!! 🤟
Today was the first day after weeks of round rail practice I consistently had correct placement of my board. You are my favorite UA-camr and you are one of the best teachers I’ve seen on UA-cam for skateboarding. I’m a commercial banker, 36, and this is my first year skating and I’m loving it, thanks to you!
duuuuuude thank you so much!! i'm a super lightfooted skater and i never understood why my round rail tricks flop around everywhere. but its the weight!!! thank you im going to land a bunch of em tomorrow
These trick tips are very helpful I mean I've always been scared trying the 5050 on a round rail but it feels more safer to learn ...thanks bro I'm about to learn the 5050🔥🔥💪
was trying front 50's earlier, just tapping the end of the rail and wondering why my board would flip out from underneath me. didn't even think of body weight, but after u mentioned it the trick makes sense. definitely landing these tomorrow, thanks Dan!
i think its about being mindful of how you push yourself same concept as start at a curb -> 2 stair -> 3 stair so on. Don't skate a waist high hand rail before you skate a small hand rail. The worst injuries happen when people try something big before practicing on smaller stuff first
@@oneofthelast2323 pushing yourself a little bit at a time is a good thing. My issue with the whole "skate within your means" thing is that it's the skateboarding version of helicopter mothering. My approach is more along the lines of "try not to die, but if you're going to, go out in a way that people will be talking about for decades to come"
I've been struggling with 50 50s on rails for 2 years. I landed many but they were always sketchy. Today I finally said fuck it, I need to learn this trick. I made any effort to cross lock, I would land on it just like it was a ledge and IMMEDIATELY pull backward with my back foot and forward with my front foot to cross pinch and I instantly started grinding further and was balancing better. I used to try to lock in the heel way and I just never felt very good about it, never came out of it landing very solid. It's actually very very easy to just shimmy into that cross lock as long as you do it immediately upon landing, you sort of shift it there as your weight is coming down, like your trucks have hit the rail but your body weight hasn't fully come down yet. I am still not super confident with this trick yet like I know I am with, say, board slides on rails or axle stalls and things like that, but instantly just by going a little faster, trying harder, and utilizing this cross pinch method, I was instantly doing MUCH better and managed to land about 10 really good 50 50s on a round bar in about an hour. It's easy to see for me how in a few months I'll be grinding much further, at faster speeds. I started skating at age 23, so I got a very late start. I'm 26 now. Never thought I would learn front 50 50s on rails, as I know many very good skaters who don't even like doing them even though they are far better than me. I just personally have always thought 50 50s on rails looked so fucking cool and I was so excited that I finally learned this today, or I should say truly learned it, actually understand the trick now in all its parts and now just need to build some consistency with it. So stoked guys

Thanks for this video. I'm digging out my old flat bar rail. It might even be the same rail you have. I never put enough time in the front 50/50. I just board slided the rail some years back. But when I worked on the 50/50 I did the exact same steps for getting there like you did in the video. I quickly decided to do it "cross trucks" but didn't have a name for it in German. I'll get started soon. I think I'll get this 8)
i can finally do it, and its actually not that hard once you get over the fear. i always land in a weird reverse opposite crosslock though, im gonna work on that
Same bro I’ve been struggling trying to fix my cross lock for a month now with no luck. The 5050s are good enough I guess but the proper cross lock looks a lot cooler in my opinion.
