I was an exchange student in Italy when I was in highschool. The family I stayed with definetly ate tons of pizza and pasta EVERYDAY yet they were skinny. Because they don't overeat and also they do walk almost everywhere and very fast.
I respectfully disagree. Italians eat pasta and pizza very often. They keep a balanced weight because of the good quality of the ingredients those pasta and pizza are prepared with.
Hi all, I’m Italian and I think that eating and exercising to your heart’s content and listening to your body’s needs is the key to stay healthy and happy. Moreover, being skinny isn’t equal to being healthy. Given this, I try to eat balanced meals, move my body and never say no to my food desires for reasons concerned with diet culture. Let’s promote a healthy relationship with food!
My Italian born and raised father would have pasta EVERY.SINGLE.NIGHT. for dinner...so much so I hated pasta growing up, things changed as i grew up and now love pasta 😂
I lived in Italy for 8 years and used to eat at the student's refectory during my university studies. Everybody had pasta or rice for primo, followed by meat and vegetables to end with fruit or a yoghurt. That's what we had every day for lunch. Every day. And hardly anybody was overweight. We walked a lot though and the portions weren't huge.
It's all about eating non-processed foods and not having too much sugar. That ms how they keep slim.

I'm Italia and my family, and my friends, we eat pasta twice in a week, pizza twice in one month, the otherday we eat a lot of vegetables, fishes, legums, bread, fruits, a littlebit of meat, twice a week chicken, a little sweety every day, but for breakfast, all italian people eat caffè and milk with 3 or 4 biscuits, its enough. Breakfast total is in sunday at bar.
Pizza it's rare and you usually eat it on weekends and other celebrations. But pasta it's really eaten every day, usually once a day but sometimes also twice 😅
When I went to Italy, all I saw people eating were pastries for breakfast, and than for the rest of the day, pasta and pizza and gelato. I asked some my Italian friend’s what else they eat and they literally just said pasta and pizza. I was there for four weeks by this point so I was sick of all those foods, so I was desperate for another answer but they did not give me one…lol
Pasta, rice or polenta : once a day (lunch not dinner) 75-80g Meat: once a week Pizza: once a week Lasagna : once a month Fresh Fish : whenever you want Fresh Vegetables: possibly everyday Fresh Fruit : everyday

Italians are going to be a thing of the past given their shockingly low birth rates, along with Spain and Greece. The rest of the developed world not that far behind.
Exactly, maybe 30 years ago good looking thin Italians for the most part, but then came larger supermarkets popping up everywhere in Italy, In the 70's and 80's I remember only going to very small markets in italy to get healthy food, mostly produce, fish, lean meats, and less choice of all the crap that's creeping in Italian supermarkets/grocery stores today which is unfortunate. In 1996, "Big American pizza" frozen pizza was introduced into the Italian market, when I saw that, I thought "oh no they're copying the Americans", it's too bad but still to this day they haven't reached American F A T N E S S yet.
Baaaaaaahhh.... Pasta, gnocchi or rice (better if risotto) every lunch, with vegetables. And meet or fish or eggs, or also beans or similar for dinner, also with vegetables. Pizza once a week, pastry for breakfast only in special occasion. Personally, i don't use tondo breakfast, only espresso, and i don't eat snack during the day, but this is not so common
They keep their weight because it's all their bodies have ever known. Anyone who comes to Italy can't really embrace this type of eating for a long period of time
I'm Italian from Rome and I don't understand why are you giving advices on Italian diet or what to do, not to do etc..being a foreign here. Let me tell you you're basically running a channel on Italy but you're wrong 80% of the times I watch your shorts, it's full of stereotypes and mislead info, maybe you should talk about your country, maybe it'd be better no?

Refined flour (all purpose flour) or wheat flour?
And if it's refined, how you guys are so healthy and fit 😅

Right quantity and quality of food. This should be the keys for everyone. And a varied diet, no need to say.

We don't like American or frozen pizza. We might have gotten fat compared to the past but not due to the introduction of American or frozen food.
@@annait2119 those bigger grocery stores being built all over in Italy, more choices a fat ugly making foods
Italy is the European country with the lowest ratio of overweight people. Right now, in 2024.
Its all about portion control
From what I know, they love their pizza and pasta, but eat plenty of greens too.
Interesting. I live in Germany and the Germans say “you eat sweet food for breakfast?” Like uh no😂

Literally eat pasta everyday for lunch (but she is talking about people trying to lose weight so, its different)
A mediterranean diet is meant to be amongst the most healthy in the world.
They eat real food not fake food like they have in America.
Please don't use the word "skinny"
Its called mediterranian diet😊
