Hi, thanks for the insights..I have around 10 years of experience and want to pursue EMBA from Europe..wanted to check if GMAT is a necessary requirement to apply for EMBA? what universities do you think would be suitable to apply for apart from the top ones?

just one question when CFA is a chartered holder thing why it is always considered as a certification by many people

Hm... it is a professional credential and seems analogous to certification in people's minds - what do you think it should considered? You think it should carry more weight?

I am not even sure that which category it should belong but seems like certification will be more liberal i guess. Because there are many Certification in market which requires less effort and less cost also and market value of them is also not upto CFA level or even near by

@@nooneknows11222 Hi, I use the word certification broadly. Yes, among "certifications" some are given much more weight than others. The CFA credential is considered very prestigious and the admissions committees are aware of how hard it is to pass all three levels.

I have more than 5 years of experience and don't want to invest 2 years in MBA and want to do 1 year full time MBA . Hence I thought of choosing EMBA . I have left my earlier company and now I am running my own business .I am still confused if 1 year EMBA or a 2 years MBA programme is best for me ?

Thanks for your question. We have forwarded it to Dr. Shell. I would expect her to reply after the long weekend - 1-2 business days. Thx.

@@gmatclub This is a complicated question, in part because different programs will be concerned with different things. When someone has just started a company, some top EMBA programs will feel you may not be able to handle the demands of the EMBA program while trying to stabilize and expand a new business, so you will need to address that to be successful with them. Some EMBA programs will take younger candidates (assuming you are around 27 years old), like CBS, NYU, and Kellogg. So, you can consider targeting schools that prefer younger candidates. I have not found it to be a major concern with some top EMBA programs if you don't yet have full-time employees, but you need to write about your entrepreneurial experience well in other ways.
There are only a few one-year full-time EMBA-type programs in the USA, including those of MIT, Stanford (MSx), Kellogg, and Cornell. The one-year EMBA-level programs in Europe/UK include Oxford and INSEAD. You will have a broader range of options with two-year EMBA programs.
It is often the case that candidates will have an easier time accessing higher-ranked schools through the EMBA path than the full-time path. For example, it will be harder to get into the Columbia full-time MBA program than it will be to get into the Columbia EMBA program. This is largely because at the EMBA level professional achievement is more important (GPA is weighed more heavily in the full-time pool), and hence more candidates who do not have a great college GPA might still be successful in the EMBA pool if they put together a great application that presents a compelling portrait of their work experience.
Feel free to send your resume to me should you want a profile evaluation based on your specific credentials.
      Best wishes,
      Dr. Shel
