If you have an MBA and have been an Executive or have held corporate leadership roles the there is no need to proceed with this level of schooling. If you are new to leadership with little executive or leadership experience then you should consider an executive MBA. So we agree. Thanks for reposting
You explained really well, Thanks for the video. Being in IT for 12 years now, I was actually looking to do EMBA to pivot my career from IT to management. I was literally torn between taking a path towards Project Management Certifications or do an Executive MBA (cannot leave job to do full time MBA), with former being cheaper and more directed towards what I want. I checked lot of Job Adverts for Managers\IT Directors etc, and none of them ask for MBA as a requirement but work experience in that field. I don't think my current company would have anything for me despite doing EMBA. What do you think? Should I still go for EMBA as you clearly stated that it's not for switching your career entirely.
I think you eluded to this in your video: as a 38 year old senior manager with no direct reports yet, I am not sure I am “executive enough” for an EMBA. My undergrad (grad) degree is also in architecture, so some of the business topics might be completely new to me. Sounds like a part-time MBA might be a better fit for me, right? I also happen to live commuting distance from New York, so I am deciding between NYU EMBA or NYU part-time
Really appreciate this video for pointing out the MSx program and Sloan Fellows. For my needs desire and and experience level much better. Would be great have a video focused on the 10 year mark with a full time approach like these two.
Thanks for the informative video! Do you work with EMBA applicants as well or do you focus more on just MBA applicants? I’m thinking about applying to EMBA programs (targeting the M7 schools that have them).
@@CareerProtocol That’s so awesome! Yes, I’ve joined and have started playing the Email Game and really was fascinated by the MBA Value Decoder Ring. I spent quite a bit of time on it - more than I did on IG today! 🤪 Also LOVE your dancing unicorn mascot! 🦄
I've been in the same role for 19 years and have not been able to get out of it successfully. I've applied for some EMBA programs in the hopes it'll help me pivot my career. I assume this is a waste of time and I'm just stuck in a job I hate for the rest of my life, right?
Goodness I certainly hope not! As a wide-eyed idealist I never believe it's too late and I think one should never give up. There are always pathways to greater happiness if you want it and are willing to follow your destiny. You might like to check out our new Happy at Work program. And good luck with EMBA apps!!!!
I am about 3 years out from applying, but would like to know if being a military retiree (23 years) without employment at the time of application would be a disadvantage for pursuing an EMBA? I plan to start my second career following undergraduate/graduate programs, but I believe an EMBA would be more than worth it to pursue, but as I stated, I am not sure how competitive I would be.
Hi Smokeyhat! This depends on a lot of factors, not just age. Are you in a position to benefit from and contribute to the program? Will you see an ROI on the investment? These are the places to start! Then check out MBAmo.com for a rough estimate of how your other app factors might stack up, though recognize this tool was geared towards FT MBAs. Good luck and keep us posted!!!
It can't possibly be bad, Theresa! But I am not familiar with this term, since all MBAs are professional degrees. As long as it gets you access to the knowledge, resources, and networks you need to advance your career, then it's great!
Thanks Sofiane! Where is DBA? There are many great MBA programs in France! especially if you want to work in France or the EU post-MBA, those schools (HEC, INSEAD, EM Lyon, these are all great!)
@@CareerProtocol thank you verry much , i think about pole paris d'alternance ( ppa) , cause it has a delocalisation in algiers , mean easy to reache and don't need to travel and visa and.....

Call the adcom and ask! They will help you think through this problem and choose the right program for you if you are set on NYU. The FT adcoms aren't so generous with their guidance but PT and EMBA adcoms are so give them a ring. I could see this going either way. Main determinant will likely be the timing/structure of the program and what works best with your schedule. not whether you have direct reports. Good luck!

Are u sure? I was looking at Columbia EMBA where it is written that the core curriculum is exactly same as a the full-time MBA!!!

Sounds like either one could work.
Does an executive MBA hold the same weight as an traditional full time MBA
To whom? To the holder? Yes. To employers? surely. To the general public? who knows who cares?
What are your thoughts about Professional MBA (Part Time full time MBA) for people who still want to get a paycheck and still learn experience?
We're big fans of PT MBAs!! Great experience and even better education in self-management!
