There was an old lady at the Apple store who was talking to me about buying one as I was purchasing an iPad, they showed me the listing and I showed them a good seller, and steered them away from one of those scams. One less customer scammed!
I love these eBay scam videos. This reminds me of that show “how to catch a predator” hahaha. Can’t wait to see what happens! Thanks for this series of videos. Love the channel!
What an interesting development.. can't wait to see how it all plays out. The idea that they possibly recognized that it was you and played the old switcharoo is a very valid one, so seeing what happens if someone else places an order for the same kind of machine will certainly be incredibly telling.
Lee Stewart not to be mean or offend you, but I work at a premium reseller in the netherlands and we still ( a month ago) used to sell the ipad 6th gen, which actually was/is pretty affordable, especially when you are 100% sure it is new and acurate.. in the Netherlands the prices are even more expensive and especially our store.. and im certain other electronic store still sell the 5th gen, must even be better..
Happened to me too, ordered a mid 2012 non retina model as I knew it could be upgraded to the hilt. Ebay seller had run out, and offered me a mint condition 2014 macbook pro with same specs except i5 instead of i7. They even offered to double the SSD storage from 256 to 512. At no additional cost. So I said yes. What rocked up was a 2014 retina model, 1Tb SSD, 16GB ram and an i7 cpu. 18 cycles on the battery too. Let them know of their mistake in case they had accidentally sent me the wrong computer and they said "not to worry, you've probably gone through the process of getting it all set up, enjoy your new computer". Not all "shonky" looking ebay ads are shonky. Most are, but not all. A year later I got more than what I paid for the computer to upgrade to the latest touchbar model. Of course I advertised it for exactly what it was! :)

I sell on ebay. I know what happened. They accidentally switched shipping labels on 2 separate purchases/pkgs. I'm like 99% sure, the person that purchased that laptop, received the one that you paid for. It's risky to send each customer a shipping label, and ask them to ship to each other (hope u still have good packaging, & 1 customer could keep both, and seller would have to refund one). They might consider the cost of 4 labels vs price difference between the 2 items. Might refund other customer the difference, or exchange it, or refund after return.
If you’re insinuating that they know who you are and what you’re trying to prove by buying these MacBooks, and that’s why they’re giving you better laptops than listed, then you should just keep buying them under your name and ruin their profit margins. I’m sure you’re viewers would buy them back haha.
I'm guessing it was just a shipping mistake. They probably have a lot of these machines sitting around and accidentally mixed it up. Or, they saw your name on the shipping label and decided to "upgrade" you.
4:57 that's a very good looking watch, Luke. Personally, I don't like smartwatches. They will only add to landfills over time, while a good traditional watch will last decades, and never stop doing what's supposed to.
Before you PURCHASE, you should contact the Buyer and point out the descepancy and maybe he or she will lower the price and correct the listing. If you proceed with the purchase knowing about the decrepency, you are acually scamming the seller. Many buyers do that. They know what they are buying , yet they proceed and hope to get something for nothing on a technicality. Like using the description a leverage.
if that is the case they actually proved that the listings they put up are scams. if they claim that there's nothing wrong with the listings there should be no need to send a better macbook = caught scamming
@@andreasryden334a good scam where you get more than you paid for, meaning the customer is scamming them by purposely keeping the product when they should send it back for a refund or the correct item.

Sometimes the used paste is such low quality that it's already dry when you buy it sealed, especially the paste Apple uses, the driest thermal paste ever is definitely in MacBooks because of course Apple tries to spend the least amount of money possible.

I'm trying to get them to replace the battery before my 30 days refund is up, otherwise I think I got a great deal.

make a video of you using it (show condition and that it works) and then continue filming while you box it up. buy cheap usb stick, put the video on it and include it securely taped to the outside of the box
Not sure if this was posted already but it looks like the SSD used is a M.2 with a adapter. Correct me if I'm wrong though... But getting a Retina for that price would make anyone wonder too! Hehe

I'm pretty sure most of these seller just copy and past titles and don't even check the year of the item they are selling.
Do you have advice for sellers?
I worry about people like breaking the device and saying it arrived like that.
make a video of you using it (show condition and that it works) and then continue filming while you box it up. buy cheap usb stick, put the video on it and include it securely taped to the outside of the box
113 cycles, that's not bad....
Lol my 2013 is currently on 1200 cycles, really need to get round to changing the battery though
My late 2013 did around 1100 before the battery died altogether. Cost me a fucking fortune to replace it, but now it's working great again.
Well, for the average person, a Mac will always be expensive. It will either be an expensive purchase or an expensive lesson.
Not sure if this was posted already but it looks like the SSD used is a M.2 with a adapter. Correct me if I'm wrong though... But getting a Retina for that price would make anyone wonder too! Hehe
What an amazing turn of events.
i got a 2017 MacBook Pro after my 2015 went under... I think I got a good deal. 1TB SSD, dual video cards, 3.1GHZ processor. basically the most maxed out a 2017 MacBook Pro can get according to apple's website and spec page. I paid 400 under $2000. Good deal?
I bet they mixed up shipping labels.
Feel bad for the buyer who paid almost $1,000 for a Retina MacBook Pro and received a 2008-2012 MacBook Pro, probably with a Core2 Duo.
Seller accidentally put his own macbook in the box.
been binging your videos all day, you funny goose
