My friend was scammed out of his $600 guitar pedal plus an extra $1800. He tried to recover it all for a whole year. Ebay did not help him, so... Yeah ebay does not help everyone who gets scammed
I want to thank you a million. Recently, I was thinking about purchasing items and decided to check into eBay's rep. I know zillions of people make purchases with no problem, BUT some of us are screw magnets. I always get screwed. But not this time, thanks to you.
Late to see this video but, as a seller, I want to clarify something. When I am sending out a package and I print the label at home I put it on the package and into my mailbox waiting for the mail carrier to pick it up. If I check the tracking it will say, "SHIPPING LBL CREATED USPS AWAITS ITEM". When they pick it up (or have it back at the post office) and scan it, the tracking will indicate this. It is NOT a red-flag to see the USPS is waiting for the item. Thank you for the rest of the info. I hope this all worked out for you.
Yeah! Exactly! You print the label at home and then it immediately says “USPS awaits item” up until about an hour after the post office receives and processes it. Its not a red flag.
I don't sell on eBay but I ship some of my work to customer and it's usually at this stage until the pick up guy scans the package a second time arriving at the facility, probably depends on the courrier and regions.
Then there are those sellers automating shipping label created, ebay has a bug interpreting that as shipped, then when they do not ship anything, ebay has buyer blocked.
It isn't a red flag but it's worth contacting the seller to see if everything is OK if "awaits" continues to be the status for too long. My case had a happy ending. The seller had forgotten that my package was under his desk and he was using it as a footrest.
Ebay money back guarantee is very applicable when it comes to non receipt claims.. Just make sure to open a claim within 30 days from the estimated delivery date.
@@Mark-ms3fw That means, for example, if your item was estimated to be delivered to you by the 1st of March 2022, you can open a dispute claim within the next 30 days from the 1st of March 2022.
Ive been a seller on ebay since 2013.... This same scam happened to me in 2024 :( and they got to keep the item and I was none the wiser until it was too late and I went back to look at the user 2 months later and theyre account was taken down. Im not sure if they got in trouble but I refunded the full amount, and lost the item. It feels like such a violation. Thank you for making this video, I feel like I finally got closure and understood what went down.
I have to tell you, there’s way more scams against the sellers than buyers. eBay always sides with the buyer. And btw: when it says: “USPS awaits item”, that’s not necessarily a red flag. All my items say that as soon as I print a label at my house up until about an hour after I drop it off at the post office and the post office people have had time to enter it in their system.
"ebay always sides with the buyer" well i guess im not even that then, ive been scammed several times by now... ebay ignoring me, sellers ignoring me. Looks like itll happen again one more time right now, this might be the last time i buy something on this awful site to be honest... Lost around $200 in total from the purchases i did not recieve
I ordered something, it was shipped and then 2 days later Ebay said it arrived. When I looked to see where it was delivered, it showed close to their home. It was not a high buck item, but the seller said it was a quirk with their system. It still came to my house in a normal time. I have one now for a customer that was sent as a mail envelope and it says made, said there are not updates and is late and usps has no updates. For all I know it could be under the seat of the rural carrier's car. It may not always be a scam but it something worth watching for.
If your ebay account is linked to your bank card then get your money back by proving that you were scammed to the card company, it takes less time and a lot of times ebay sides with the seller just because the tracking shows delivered and ebay rubber stamps those cases in the sellers favor!!!
I'm a first time seller and the one contact I've had for a potential buyer, was a scammer. First tried to prove they were reputable by saying they were over seas in the US Navy. They then asked if I would send the item one state away. [The problem], it was an gift for their cousin (different address) and they wanted me to buy them an $400. Gift card to go with my item, and that they would pay with a personal check and an gift card.
I've won 2 diamond rings on eBay this year (so far). In 1 auction my bid was cancelled without my consent. In another the auction was closed just hours before it ended, " item no longer available)! Both times spoke to Ebay. Both Sellers still on eBay. I've been banned by both.

I just sold on eBay and the amount was over $1000. I was told by Mary in the department that holds funds and was told that even though the buyer has their item and left me wonderful feedback they are holding my money for 21 days. Just Incase the buyer would change their mind in that 21 days so I would have the funds for sure, to give back to them. That is a bunch of BS! Sounds to me like the sellers have 0 protection! As a buyer you can purchase even high dollar items then have buyers remorse keep them for 21 days and then say you want your money back and the seller would have to give it to you! What kind of BS policy is this????
Just because someone prints a label and doesn’t take it to the post office right away doesn’t mean it’s a “red flag”. I’ve bought numerous items and the seller usually waits till the last day to ship. And I thought you can open a INR case for ANYTHING with the eBay money back guarantee? That’s usually the biggest scam is the money back INR. In your case this should be open and shut case in favor of you with no headaches
eBay scammers try to always make sure there's a fair amount of physical distance between himself and the person he is scamming, whether it be buying or selling.
When a label is created that is in office through ebay site....it is part of handling and packaging...the created label goes on the package to be shipped....and then the seller in 3 handling days...takes the items to usps or places them in their box for usps to pick up......until then you will see label created item awaits for usps....once the usps scans the label then you can see delivery details...so this first part of your story was not a scam but a process....depends...can be on same day of request or next day of request or 3rd day of request depending upon is usps is closed or open due to holidays....that seller was surely a scam...😂
May have gotten scammed today, or postal worker did or didn’t do something to package, tracking says “attempted delivery 4:25pm yesterday” and “stored at post office at customer request”. However I just went to post office and they looked up the tracking number, saw it was legit, looked in the lockers and didn’t find it tried calling the postal worker who was suppose to deliver it and they couldn’t reach them. So had to give name and number, said they would get back to me with what happened.
This happened to me i open a request and have to wait until the 23rd for ebay to step in, already called and reported the seller, thanks for the vid . In my case the ebay seller sent a fedex tracking number after a week or two, I called fedex to know the location of the package when they ask me for my name and address they say that my name and address didn’t match and that it didn’t came from an ebay sell, idk how these scammers are doing it, but it sucks never thought this is a common thing until it happened to me.
The post office will provide a geo location tracking log for the item upon request at the post office. It will also show the original label and all info on it. Scammers tried to get me in the past but instead they got their accounts closed..
In my 20 years helping my father and buying/selling on Ebay myself. I can say it finally happened to me where a chinese scammer sent off a letter to some house in another state and another box that was heading towards my general direction and delivered to someone else because it was a package not intended for me at all. I literally told the Ebay rep on the phone all the proof and for them to check it and I am literally just on there with some foreigner weirdo who is useless....as a foreigner myself whose served and returned to serve in the US Army...I now understand why people just dislike foreigners sometimes .... I blame Ebay hahahaha but long story short I went through my bank/paypal because Ebay was immensely inept on the matter when the evidence is in their face
I've had this happen before and not been able to claim back. And lo and behold, I've now got another one. A sewing machine this time. And the seller isn't responding. I have flagged it up with ebay and awaiting response so I'm at the start of my claim. Ebay are not always helpful. Will be thinking twice about buying from there again as I lost a lot of money at the beginning of last year. And as soon as I have tried to buy something else, I have got a problem again. Its a shame. But no longer think its worth it. Too many bargains have gone wrong and been expensive mistakes. Someone's made cash, but it's not me.
I had the same problem with a eBay seller. I bought 10 full size NFL helmets and 10 MLB jerseys. I received a box that was 12x12x12 with 2 jerseys. I sent eBay photos of the box with the tracking number on it but EBay would not refund my money
USPS awaiting an item to be dropped off is NOT a red flag. This is natural. Postage is paid for before it's printed and it's printed before placed on the packaged item, and the item is packaged before it's dropped off at USPS. Give a seller a break and don't complain. It takes a minute. Sometines it doesn't make it out the day it was packaged and needs to get dropped off the next day.
A new wrinkle has been added by the scammer that got me on eBay. I bought the item. They didn't send it but bought a cheap dummy item on Amazon and had it sent it to a real address in my town with another name. UPS gave them a tracking number for the dummy item and they added that to my eBay order like it was for real. when it was delivered to the wrong address it was marked as delivered on eBay in my home town. They ruled in favor of the seller. UPS wouldn't give me information. Amazon hinted around it not being the item I said it should be and that it wasn't sent to my name and address. Once the addresses don't match they clam up and cannot give you any information. I am still fighting it in appeal and I hope that UPS and Amazon's refusal to give me information due to the fact that the name and address are not the same as mine will be proof that the package was not sent to me.
ebay scammers keep giving me fake tracking number, and never ships item, hoping you will just forget about it. I love shopping on ebay because there are many good items, with many good sellers. But then there are the scammers. I hate the scammers.
Seeing that the label has been made, but that the package hasn't been shipped isn't that abnormal. I have a package coming from a seller (outside of ebay) in Italy, and origin post is still waiting for package. they are completely legit, but just haven't actually shipped it yet.
@@dinkiethesink yeh i realize that. i am speaking to his implication that it could be used as a general rule of thumb. it is very normal for people to create shipping labels with their printer before giving it to the post office
Well, they only hold the money for 20 days or whatever if you are a "beginner" seller. Once you get to a certain status then you get your cash immediately. But obviously if you are at the stage past beginner then you likely aint a scammer.
Anybody else here having issues with a ridiculous increase in order cancellations since paypal decided to keep all fees? As soon as this policy started my cancellations went through the roof.. I updated my listings to include a note regarding non-refundable paypal fees for cancellations. I had to call ebay to close out the returns after doing the partial refund through paypal. But now that they aren't taking calls they are flat out ignoring my messages.. Honestly it feels like the scammers, work for ebay..
I know this is late but you seem to have used it multiple times how can I make sure if the item o want to buy is from a worthy seller or how do you know when it’s shipping
I Have not heard of this Scam. but was scammed buy a seller selling new items at a 90% discount, and go a picture of the item in the post, looked again at the listing and saw it now said in very small print Picture only. did not get my money back. but as a seller now I have been scammed too.
Thats not true about usps if it says awaiting the item that means we paid for the shipping then printed the shipping label at home which is normal and then we put it on box and get it ready to go to post office. Ebay gives us an exact day to ship by.
They haven't spent two bucks because they can cancel the tracking and get their money back. Then use a tracking number of a completely different item going back to their own address.
@@succafree3212 turns out I got lucky 😅 he actually did ship it to me, and the post office took forever, I assumed he shipped to himself because of how sus everything was
I bought an items, went to my history and it says item not found a couple minutes later it’s shows my item. And it says the item was shipped on the same day 10 minutes after I bought it. Never used eBay before, is this a scam? It says it’s sending it to my address.
Wow!!!!!! that really sucks. I will never buy anything off of Ebay. Seems SCAMMERS have really gotten worse and see more and more videos on it. Glad I did all my Ebay shopping many many years ago. Thanks for your video.
This happens too often on ebay. They need to create a rule that a seller has 5days to send the item. If not the buyer is refunded and order cancelled. Annoys the crap out of me that I have to then wait until after the est delivery date to open a case with ebay to get a refund 🤬
I had this happen to me as well. I didn't know I was scammed and figured a porch pirate had gotten the package even though the security camera didn't show anyone. $20 item so I left negative feedback and forgot about it.
Hello. I was misled by a seller on Ebay and the customer service people. I can't leave the situation like this. I have registered with customer service. Where can I go, what can I do? I don't want to leave the situation like that

It will show a tracking history as to every location it was scanned. Easy call to to ebay to get your money back. Tracking history will show it was nowhere near your location. Definite scam. Good catch but always check tracking history location scans.
This only works if the eBay CSR 1). gives a rat's ass about their job, 2). knows what they're doing, 9 times out of 10 you're speaking to a trainee who can't even navigate their computer interface, much less know how to help you without putting you on hold and asking their supervisor, who again will only help you if they care about their job and know what they're doing (they don't). Most of the time they're simply going to parrot the concrete policy of "can't do anything if it's marked as shipped." You may have to call back again and again and again until you actually get a helpful CSR that knows their own ass from a hole in the ground.

Screw this, five years later and people are still being scammed this way on ebay, ebay obviously does not care!!! You get stiff armed by the system now when you try to call ebay, I have repeatedly tried to do what you could five years ago, not now!!!
You are wrong. I am a seller and also a buyer on eBay for over 8 years. If someone does that as a seller, eBay shut down their account. Usually, if there is a problem with the address or with the box or if the shipping cost is not right, at that time USPS sends that package back to the seller. Also, eBay checks and reads all of your emails to the seller and seller to you. Also when you open a case and explain the problem in that case one team works on it and one team makes a decision , so someone can be a scam and bad seller but not forever, soon someone reports that seller to eBay,eBay will start to investigate .eBay is much safer than amazon. The main problem on eBay is SCAMA BUYERS, NOT SCAM SELLERS.
Sadly, you are not correct in your thinking that the postal service will do as they should do and scan + weigh the packages if they are brought in, some do and some do not if they are overwhelmed with packages, we used to bring our packages in and leave them on the counter to be scanned in when they got more time, it frees up having to stand in line. Now things have changed, they will not scan them or weigh them if you just leave them on the counter as some rule internally within postal service is changed so they do not have to do this. Now instead we have to stand in line with sometimes 30 plus packages and scan and weigh each, makes all the other customers very happy as well. So long story short, do not always think because it does not show up at the post office that it has not been left there, depends on how lazy they are at the post office.
don't be scared. just be warey and cautious. always look at reviews. if its under 100-99.9% positive reviews, do not buy from seller. dont buy from china either on ebay. just have to be super careful. always look at the reviews on the seller before you purchase an item from them. =)
@Chana Lee I noticed many of the online reviews seem to be fake too. I've noticed a sudden explosion of reviews on Amazon, with headings, product descriptions, and content that covers every single detail of the item they purchased, and being overly descriptive for the average consumer to have written. The supposed "buyer" review is written in a style worthy of a Consumer Reports article. Other times I notice a flood of 5 star reviews on a newly listed item that are short and contain little grammar and spelling errors, of the type you notice when foreigners write in English (@Chana Lee, am I right you troll? "are become a scammer". Really?Get a life). Either way I agree with you Demon Queen Grace. I just thought I bring this up for people to use an extra level of caution when buying online. Don't be careless and allow yourself to be a victim as I have. As Demon Queen stated, you should always exercise a high level of caution and do a little research on online sellers. The large online retailers like Amazon and eBay need to take an active role in fighting any internet fraud since now it seem even they are not immune to the high level of fraud occurring on their websites. Consumers will stop buying online if they feel online shopping, even from the big boys, has become an invitation to be a victim of fraud.

When this happens to me I dispute the charge with PayPal or my credit card company; I don’t ever deal with eBay directly.
I had the same problem with a eBay seller. I bought 10 full size NFL helmets and 10 MLB jerseys. I received a box that was 12x12x12 with 2 jerseys. I sent eBay photos of the box with the tracking number on it but EBay would not refund my money
eBay does actually care which address the item is sent to.
Thats true but the way it was originally stated could confuse an amatuer buyer
This sucks for EBay. They should be checking who is using their site for these scams. I used to use EBay a lot. It suck’s lately
Unfortunately you have to be very vigilant when buying from Ebay. There are so many scammers now.
This same scam happened to me. Glad I found this video. You just got a new subscriber.
It is not a red flag for your tracking to state USPS awaits item. That is what ALL labels show when you print them.
Yo this is kinda late but what if on Ebay it only says "tracking number provided" but when i check the number on FedEx tracking it says in transit
Never came across this scam but ebay customer service are usually pretty good in my experience.
Greed is a deadly sin. Unfortunately, when we get older we lose brains but never lose greed Exela support thanks for exposing these idiots scammers
Thats not true about usps if it says awaiting the item that means we paid for the shipping then printed the shipping label at home which is normal and then we put it on box and get it ready to go to post office. Ebay gives us an exact day to ship by.
Secret word is so secret i aint gonna tell you
They haven't spent two bucks because they can cancel the tracking and get their money back. Then use a tracking number of a completely different item going back to their own address.
I'm really hyped for that Cablemod 2r55gb review! Keep up the good work and try not to get scammed too many times, Dinky :P
Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Thankfully he got his money back.
How, just happened to me
@@gioootalks4850 did u get ur money back?
@@succafree3212 turns out I got lucky 😅 he actually did ship it to me, and the post office took forever, I assumed he shipped to himself because of how sus everything was
I bought something on eBay and the tracking number is weird now it says is out for delivery! But I am not in the city is being out for delivery ! :(
I bought an items, went to my history and it says item not found a couple minutes later it’s shows my item.
I wish ebay still used PayPal. I liked the added protection.
This happens too often on ebay. They need to create a rule that a seller has 5days to send the item. If not the buyer is refunded and order cancelled.
Annoys the crap out of me that I have to then wait until after the est delivery date to open a case with ebay to get a refund 🤬
They have to ship it to the address on your account, if they ship it to a different address its an automatic refund.
I had this happen to me as well. I didn't know I was scammed and figured a porch pirate had gotten the package even though the security camera didn't show anyone. $20 item so I left negative feedback and forgot about it.
Here’s another tip don’t buy anything over 150$ on eBay because most likely anything over that looks sus is sus
Hello. I was misled by a seller on Ebay and the customer service people. I can't leave the situation like this. I have registered with customer service. Where can I go, what can I do? I don't want to leave the situation like that
I bought a cheap series s really hope I don’t want to get scammed
How can you as a buyer k ow he shipped it to himself just by looking at the tracking number?
you can click the number and it shows a tracking history.
LMFAO THE SUBTITLES ARE DRUNK THEY ARE LIKE "to me and all of the girls go to school and rare words and for those of you are sorry sobre esse clipe nome toy story" Also I didn't really understand the first ones but the "sobre esse clipe" is when he said "so basically, and to understand what I mean go to 0:19 and turn on subtitles. LOL
Its in Portuguese idiot
@@lexwr41thplayzfn95 why are some of it English then
Thank you for educating me.
It will show a tracking history as to every location it was scanned. Easy call to to ebay to get your money back. Tracking history will show it was nowhere near your location. Definite scam. Good catch but always check tracking history location scans.
thanks, mate this is REALLY!!!!! good advice, cause I'm in a bid for an i3 10100F CPU, and its 40$ do u think that's too good to be true?
Fingers crossed all goes well for you.
If they scam they can get arrested
Hello. Does the person you bought the item from is highly rated?
Yes mine is the Number 1 scam
Great, I may be using the same method for an item that is looking exactly like this...
I'm scared that my laptop charger wont come i saw a ton of them being sold all with the same images i have been super happy as my mother has finally trusted me to online shop. I myself have insane trust issues and have been worried since Wednesday

Never buy nothing from ebay u will get scammed or they will sent you to the wrong order
I bought most of the things over there just fine. Just be careful who you buy it from.
@@Bubble23428 I still wouldn't never buy nothing from eBay anyway
You know, I think all of those websites can’t be 100% safe.
Didn't expect that they will call you back in 10 mins.

Cable Mod S1NK1
don't be scared. just be warey and cautious. always look at reviews. if its under 100-99.9% positive reviews, do not buy from seller. dont buy from china either on ebay. just have to be super careful. always look at the reviews on the seller before you purchase an item from them.
Yeah I always read everything carefully before I buy it I only had one item come or should I say two items come messed up thank God they didn’t cost that much it took me forever and a day to return those I had open with Ebay customer service thanks for your video appreciate it happy holidays
