Great video I don’t mind someone talking me through something I’ve dealt with Guns all my life. I’ve had AR for about eight years now I’m still learning I don’t shoot mine like everyone else does but if I shoot it most of the time I do try to clean it up a little bit. 👍☕️

In my opinion every gun builder should have a jar full of WD-40 That's deep enough for the BGC . You dump the entire thing disassembled in the WD-40 you let it sit there for about 20 minutes when you come back everything that was on it falls right off with the light scrub. I use brake clean to get the WD-40 off (The brake clean I use is safe on plastic it's literally the same ingredients as the gun cleaner ) then re-oil with my oil.
    Done.

I’ve never thought of using the WD-40 I keep a gallon of it from a little spray can. And I can’t make it through a day without using brake cleaner somewhere. That’s how I clean all of my guns, my AR and my boat guns. I’m gonna try the WD-40.. 👍

You are very informative and I'm hoping you or someone might be able to help me out I just put together my first AR build and I can't get it the bolt to close all the way when chambering a round. I have made sure the gas tube is lined up right I have taken the little rubber donut off the extractor and still I can't get it to feed. If you can give me any tips I would really appreciate it

Would you change a BCG because it's just nitride it's aero and seems to work well with my setup, but only shot a couple hundred rounds, but already showing signs of wear on the rails!??? Suggestions???? Ideas??? Thoughts!???

Gunblue480 says that the “ wear” you see on rails isnt “galling”, it’s just the way the metal ends up looking. He’s an old Vietnam vet who was an armored for ruger. He has that old knowledge of the way things really work. I wouldt worry about it. Go check out his videos, I dont want to misrepresent what he says.

I just remembered him saying in his New England accent that steel is very “hard”, and that that steel will last forever. Just keep it clean and very lightly oiled, noting can happen to those rails. The only parts that can go bad are the cam pin and the parts actually on the bolt, the lugs, the extractor, etc. I’m not an expert though, but that’s my understanding. The rails probably will never be a problem.

Is this why today shooting my new AR I kept noticing an ammonia/cat piss smell after a few rounds due to the coating???

I just got a new complete upper (PSA w FN barrel), I'm using the bcg from my other upper (Aero upper w probably cmv barrel). When I tried to put in my bcg it was tiiiight, I didn't have to bend anything or pusher super hard but I did have to tap it in a bit. It already had a little bit of lube, I added some more and little big of grease to help. It helped, but my question, is that normal for a bcg to be tight like that? I'm thinking the paint in the new upper was a little thick. I'm able to get the bcg into battery and it charges back but it's still a little stiff.

Shoot it. If it doesnt loosen up then shoot it more, if its loosens up, shoot it more

@@user-nb8yt2il2r took it to my gun smith and it was the bolt, one of the edges on the top 10 o clock had a sharp edge so he grinded some off now it's fine. I knew that that was the problem but I'm fairly new to AR's so I didn't mess with it. Anyway now I know if it's snug it's not that big of deal. My AR pistol upper has a little groove the bolt made and gunsmith said that was normal too. So you're right, but I just wanted to be sure I didn't want something to go wrong in a self defense situation. Now it's good to go.

While I think the information is good, way too much blabber and time to teach a person how to degrease a bcg.
