HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Metal Detected Melt Down - Bush Bullion - Real Trash To Treasure - ASMR Metal Melting - BigStackD - Розваги
Hey there all you sensational subs how are you all? I can’t believe how fast these weeks are going, But every week that passes theres a new BigStackD video to watch . Super simple today where I melt down a heap of buried metals that were dug up in the bush around near where I live. There was sooo much slag in this it was unbelievable but at the end of the day I got myself an awesome piece of buried treasure to add to the stack.
Now do you guys like these longer videos or do you prefer the 11-12 minute videos? I will be putting a poll out this week about this asking your preferred length of video time as I would be super curious . Take care everyone and see you all next week And have a great weekend😁👋🏻
Have a blessed weekend . Thank you so much for the Asmr. 😇💜💜😇
Morning BSD, always love the content.
Masoud -iran
Hi me again and i would prefer longer videos please. Perhaps they can run constantly and for ever..love all your videos I'll watch all again and adds.
Big motors are great and what about big compressors. Love bush metal detector finds/melts. I like the recycling part as well. Every little helps and if we all had this attitude we might help our planet.
Yes sure
The technical terms like round thingys, spikey thingys and such are really important to know. Thank you for educating bigstackD
Edify
Lol one of my favorite parts
Well you have to classify your stuff... My favorite thingys are the random ones lol
@@adamtheninjasmith2985 my all time favorite thing on this channel is the "random" places he finds snacks to eat.
Definitely like the videos with the most content in them my friend..But then again you could make a three minutes video every week and I would still tune in.. Thanks for all the great vids."You Rock"☮️✌️👍🤙
The wierd places this guy pulls burgers and other food items out from is hilarious
indeed, but some of those burgers look awesome... living in the same state i'd love to try some next time i swing through on my way to Margs.
I thought he was gonna eat chips this time, which would've been a reasonable thing to get from a box, but nope, burger!
What do you mean weird?? You don’t have burgers in big boxes and crates??
This last one was shipped to him.
im still searching around my house cant seem to find them they hide pretty well
I suspect bigstackD is, in fact, a dragon. Just a more modest one, satisfied to hoard a pile of metals that aren't regarded as valuable - just useful.
Copper and such are really valuable though
One of the metallic dragons, hoarding that which mankind could use, waiting for the day when it is needed.
18:41 "if I sand these imperfections out, I would lose a lot of weight"...
Me too BigStack, me too.
Efing underrated... and based
Ok
As a professional thingologist with an advanced degree in thingonometry, I can confirm those are thingies. Except for that one thing, it was actually a thinger, and that's a whole other discipline.
The scientific term for a thinger is a doodade. We need a doodadologist.
I thought I saw a few doohickeys in there too… don’t forget those 😁
😂😂😂
Thinga majigs!
Didn't one of those count as a Whatchamacallit? Or am I confusing that with a Thingamajig?
I'm so glad you went with the technical terms. Bunch of rusted mixed thingys can sometimes be a hard concept to grasp for novices.
I wonder if there were any thingy majiggys?
these are layman's terms. he couldn't use the terms whatchamacallit, doohickey, thingamabobit, whowhatsit, or the infamous thingamajig
I love being in the UK because every Friday I wake up to one of these BigstackD videos
I kinda like being half a world away in Miami. This is what I watch to relax and sleep after 12 hours in the hospital on night shift.
The fact that he can transform dust into a goddamn lingot is just wonderfull
Keep it up man👍
One of the things I like about how you go about this is how much attention you give to minimizing waste and loss.
You know what's wild, I was thinking about this as you were cleaning uo the bar. I watch you week after week, just do cool shit that I would like to do. I have no idea who you are, but I have watched for literally hours on end. I think thats pretty cool. I get a positive vibe from you. Been a sub since the early days. Gonna ride this out and watch the dogs get old with you.
If you can put in the initial money/time for casting I’d totally recommend it to you. It’s a great hobby.
What a rather emotional text😢... I like it!
I enjoyed watching loads of these vids during the dreaded lockdowns here on Plague Island (aka UK) and it was enjoyable and I felt the same way. It's nice when you find the small pockets of the internet where it's nice and enjoyable compared to the areas where people are trash for no reason!
Yeah, me too, an unknown man to me melting copper, aluminum and brass, and I enjoy watching him do it and loving up on his pups, my kind of people…..
Yep just goo quality stuff.
For making cleanup easier you could build a cyclone seperator to hook up to your vaccuum. It seperates out any solid stuff (even dust) and collects it in a bucket, leaving only the finest dust to go into the vacuum itself. I built one from cheap materials and an extra vacuum hose I got from the garbage for collecting chips and dust from my CNC router, works like a charm.
Your garage is most guy’s dream! You got a nice open space on one side and a workbench area on the other and amenities like a big TV, a fridge and two doggies to play with. I envy you dude! 🤘🤓
The stack is getting up there now, there’s not much room left on the shelves.
I hope you weigh all the different pieces of metal you have and list a tally of each type when you get to the 1 tonne goal.
Would be really cool to see which metal is melted most and taking inventory of all the pieces would be good for you to keep track of it all.
This is something i would love to see.
I would like to add the monetary value of each metal type. Just the grand totals.
I also love restoration videos, so cleaning up the dog sign was a nice bonus today 🐶😁
I find these melts with random scrap metal particularly interesting, because while the resulting bars may not be pure or valuable alloys, it is always exciting to see if the various metals will alloy at all or if they just become these layered slabs of metal.
I like the way you hide your snacks and lunch, it keeps the viewers wondering.
These melts can be very fun to watch! Thanks for putting them out.
Ahhhh nothing beats not being able to sleep and seeing big stack post this at 3am US time.
for real tho
I wake and bake and watch this on Friday morning when I can't sleep. Half the time I go back to sleep so got to watch again 🤣
Absolutely! I've got a bad neck & headache keeping me up (almost 4:30am) love seeing a new BigstackedD to watch! 🤩
I didn’t really think this was legit and serious channel till I saw him melt pointy things that’s some top level skills
Your videos make me feel comfort and familiarness. I love settling down in bed and watching. Thank you for your content.
God I love green fire, there's just something about it that captivates me
Green fire you say?
That shade of green... Oh, wow, I know exactly what you mean. It's mesmerising to see. I love it when our man is melting copper...
Disney villain vibes
That was a tough melt, having to do it multiple times. Great job of pulling something crappy out of the ground and turning it into something awesome!
Once it's hot, doesn't take long to remelt
@@SouthFlaDiver wonder if it would help to wash/ brush them off first 🤔
The fact that he saved the metal shavings made me so fucking happy.
Always look forward to seeing the new videos. Will be attempting my first sand cast soon just waiting for the mold blank. Then it's off to the races. Always educational thanks.
Rough? It's beautiful! I always love your brass pour vids, brass is amazing!
First of all, your random searching for snacks is hilarious. Second, every time I see that thermometer, I think "oh, that's the beer thermometer". And finally, you have the best fucken socks mate! Cheers!
Love this brass ‘thingy’ melt! Always enjoy seeing “The Boys”! I enjoy both time frames, short & long.
It’s good to see waste metal from the ground getting used to fill your stack a clean planet is a happy planet, awesome video BigStackD thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😄😄😄😄😁😁😁
Good to see lots of dug up trash get used for something great, like adding to your melt collection. Thanks for this video, cheers
I really appreciate a channel of over a million subs not breaking the video to advertise the Raymond earbuds or raid shadow legends.
Another fantastic effort. The "flaws" in the bar make it all the better. It's a staple of your unique ability. Thanks for all you do.
such a beautiful piece from forgotten metal. i love how the dragon's horde is made from metal that is mostly saved from rusting away uselessly. proper recycling!
Are your neighbors ever curious about what you're doing when the devil forge is in the driveway ?
Turkey Fryer. Mans gotta eat!
@@coltlewis5871 reminds me of the time he put a cooktop over his foundry and made steaks.
@@brettjc0483 Lol! Yup
Very cool flames this episode, I always love the look of an old copper/brass melt
Yeah they give the best colors
I love being in the The Netherlands because every Friday I wake up to one of these BigstackD videos
Worthy addition to the Stack! I find it perfect with its imperfections by the way, and I love the tag on it "100% DIRT DUG".
Kudos Mr. BigstackD!
It is a joy watching your channel grow. You are going to reach 1.10 subscribers really soon. I rewatch all your videos, because the editing skills, the hard work, and dedication are a pleasure to watch. Plus, Ingot and Bullion, as well as the colorful socks.😃👍
I would love to see a sand casting of that creepy face thing that you always show after final polishing.
It's Jack Nicholson from The Shining.
Ah yes... My favorite "stove pipe" popping! And the clown mask reflection hidden gem when you're looking at the finished product! Priceless!
The imperfections are what makes the bar perfect! Cheers!
8:16 - I'm about 95% certain this is the most I've ever seen of bigstackD's face - or in this case, his eyes + respirator. I do not recall seeing any part of his face *directly* viewed by the camera in any of his many other awesome videos. Sure, might catch a glimpse of his reflection after sanding/polishing the ingots, but he's consistently wearing a mask or respirator, not like here where it's been directly filmed.
He's usually very careful. I wonder if he missed it while editing.
I can assure you I knew it was there But there’s nothing you can see except some eyes and a forehead👍🏻.

Дружище, соберёшь 1 тонну, продай и купи золото на эти деньги. И сделай СЛИТОК ЗОЛОТА. Посмотрим какого он получится размера и веса!!!
Looks like those found metals were a lot of work. That third pour looked so much cleaner than the first. Hopefully getting the metal for free helps offset the cost of gas to melt it 3 times. Very enjoyable video, as always!
Loved the finished product. Tons of character.
Excellent and very creative work. I enjoy every video, thanks
I'd wager that a lot of the slag you're getting with these brass melts is zinc oxide, a lot of flux added to the cruciple before the melt might help create a barrier that floats on top of the metal.
Exactly, adding the flux/Borax with the initial loading of the crucible shields the melt with a layer of flux to stop oxygen from getting at the alloy!
I feel pretty proud at guessing as the video was rolling. I thought, "this looks like a #8 crucible job", then "a burger would hit the spot," "That's gonna be a remelt." Guess I've been watching long enough to have picked up a few things. Cheers!
Love all the videos regardless of length. You got me hooked. Have my own 4kilo forge and melt every weekend. Thanks for all the great videos.
Always love trash to treasure. That is a beautiful brass bar. The imperfections build character to it. Awesome job brother. Have a great weekend. Cheers 🍻
When you retire a crucible do you reckon you could let the metal freeze inside it then chip the crucible off so you're left with a sand castle but with metal?
I think it’s more interesting when the ingot has a few flaws.
I’m impressed that was a lot of slag but the results is outstanding!!!
Such great videos to watch on a Friday morning with my coffee.
Me, everytime your stir the crucible: Good soup
Aw you should have kept that large ass buckle, it could have been a decent coolector piece, or shit a funktional buckle.
I just wanted to say as someone from on the opposite side of the world, the melting and shiny shiny metal is just a distraction from the dogs. Ingot and bullion forever
I like you're pfp...
May I interest you in mine?
The best part of working 13 hours is coming home and relaxing to some big stacked melting
I love how you put in the effort to include all these relevant currencies!
15:59 i love the way the frenchies lay flat on their tummies with their legs all stretched out, they're such cute little sweeties 🥰
Definitely trash to treasure!👍So many thingies to melt, so little time 😂
It's funny to me that you complain about your shop being "messy" I've never seen a guy keep their work space so nice and neat! Sweeping up every bit of dust etc wish my guy was half as tidy lol
I've been watching your videos for 2 two years now. And I can honestly say your videos have become my peaceful moments every Friday now. But I have wanted to know scene's I have started watching your videos what are you actually going to do when you reach that target weight?
You never say a word
BUT
You have about the best and most informative channel on UA-cam. Drill the doorknobs! Great tip.
Read the lines to learn
I really like watching.
East Texas
Love the videos and the Paw prints set the finished work off well.
Cant believe you haven't gotten yourself a milling machine yet. Just get a used bridgeport or something, and a facemill, and you can stop sanding, grinding, and collecting dust! Instead just plop it down in a vice, mill it on all sides, collect the chips for easy remelt. Don't need coolant or anything for brass, copper and aluminium, since it machines pretty easily.
Cheers BigstackD I’ve just made my first propane furnace.
Imma send YOU a coin!
I don't know if shipping in and out of Australia is legal anymore. Their government has a boner for tyrannical authoritarianism.
Now that was a perfect ice melt and double crush. Wonderful!
Oh god you would not believe how many chores I have done today. But seeing you upload has lifted my mood
13:08 did those dirty metals ....... extended heating and cooling cycle .......... or the borax put a hurting on your crucibles? Or is that damage just normal consumable expectations
I go with normal lifecycle of a crucible. The constant heating and cooling cycles, as you said, end for cracking it. Of course how you treat them matters, but he really cares about his crucibles.
Would it be possible to melt let’s say
Copper
And
Brass in two separate furnaces and pour it into the same mold at the same time and see what comes out of it ?
You can, but most brass is 55-65% copper already (the rest is zinc). Adding additional copper just gives you another version of brass that will be more of a yellow color, and more ductile.
Металокоп и плавление - 2 любимых дела в 1. Крутое видео!
Nice video!
Saturday morning chill with bigstackD and a cuppa tea. Peace from Scotland!
I love the waste not want not level of salvage you do, right down to dust and shavings, great stuff.
Nothing like a good early morning Big Stack D Casting video!
Love your videos and break charm dogs are wonderful and finding your meals like a treasure hunt keep up the awesome Fun!
I love it when you remove slag. It's satisfying somehow.
I just love the silent humor in your videos! My favorite part! 😂🤣 Cheers from Alabama! 🍻🐕🇺🇸🇭🇲
Love the longer vids mate mega fine job on the video and the ingot!!
Can we just appreciate how sturdy that shelf is, it's litteraly holding hundreds of kilos, and is just completely fine.
"Mixed thingys" And right there I lost it laughing. Thanks for the day brightening!
I appreciate that you showed everything going in
Cool melt, particularly when it burnt bright blue!
The different colors of fire are so cool.
Yes, drill holes in pieces that can hold air like a door handle, or pressure can blow up!
Good stuff BigStackD 👍
It's 3:am here in California this video just posted and already over 10,000 views! I guess I'm not the only one that enjoys your hobby. Thanks.
Very apt descriptions of the melty objects.
Gotta love those found signs!! And so apropos 😁
Longer videos for sure. great content. look forward to it every Friday as I drink my beer. cheers from South Africa
Truly enjoy your work! Two days to do this melt and then the time you put into editing, subtitles and the humor 🙃 are fantastic!
Wonderful to see the Boys.
One suggestion : saw on another site that they use a small cast iron skillet to collect the slag (seems easier to clean up and has a handle 😉 ).
that was a very hard work .. well done 👏🏻👏🏻💚
I like the roughness of the end product, it’s authentic.
The majestic forge's green flames are quite relaxing to me...
Always the best melt you have
Great advice about the drill! Who knew! Any video you make of melting the heck of anything is good at any length! Please pet the little boys for us! 🤷♂️🇺🇸🇦🇺👍
Damn, dude I love your meticulous editing style. Your vids just keep on getting better and better.
What a nice melt and what a nice Bullion Bar - well done again ! Have a cold one Son ! Cheers from us in QLD !!!!
