I surfed with a former pro for many years before we went our own ways. One of the most valuable lessons he taught me was the crucial importance of getting as high as possible on the wave and being patient to make it all the way to the peak before beginning my next maneuver. This is a universal truth regardless of short or long board. Especially if you opt to carve it is so easy to blow critical speed with middle wave pumps as apposed to going top to bottom.
You're 100% right, these are the 1%ers that you need to focus on to get your turns to a good level, staying patient and positioning correctly on the wave - spot on!!!
Hey Joe - and Tanner!! Stoked you’re loving the vids, really appreciate you reaching out 🤙 Hope Tanner enjoys gliding on the new board - sure he’ll be shredding out there 🤙 yewww! 🙏
Thank you Ben. I'm still practicing and my skill level sucks, but I'm going to keep surfing and using some of the techniques to carve my line. Cheers mate
Hey Moritz!!! Thanks so much for the support, and I hope that you found it helpful for your session!! If you have any further questions please let me know - yewww!!!
Good tips. I often feel that the wave is too weak and that if I step back to make a carving turn, I'll lose it (fall off the back of the wave). Do you think that's a misperception?
trim and ascending to 1/3 top!
Yeah!!! Love these little brief summaries of the key takeaways, yewww!
