All my life I been a short board surfer & believe it or not, I been generating speed from the tail with pumping the long board log 🪵 like a short board. Thanks for your tip bro I can’t wait till my next session, I’ll do as you say and trim the middle of the board with that same pumping style. Thanks bro 😎 Also, I always fade the wave and pop up on the log more in the rear and cross step right away after a bottom turn. I’ll also try my next pop up more in the middle. Super stoked and thanks for sharing the Aloha 🤙🏽 From Hawaii Cheee 😎 🤙🏽 🏄🏽♂️
Hey! So good I hope this helps I'd love to hear how it goes! Once you get the feeling for it its epic for generating speed more easily and letting the board do the work! Epic, yewww!!! 🙏🙏🤙
Hey Ben, thank you for another awesome glide! Watching your videos has become a comfort of mine, but it has also been proving beneficial- I watched this last night and was able to apply some of that sweet spot pumping into my session this morning. You’re the best, man. Thank you for bettering my sessions!
Great video Ben! You are a big help for me to become a better Longboard surfer. I finally got the right board for the poor windswell waves we got in Sweden and in need of a better fin ( the one i got with the board is plastic) that both give decent drive and hold while noseriding. Any suggestions? I saw you have tested a prototype to put your own name on. It would be great to support my " surf coach" with a fin with your signature. Perhaps its worth to wait some time until it's fully developed ,and ready to be released for the market.
That was helpful, thanks. Another idea for future vlogs: Most of my rides end as your ride around 4:26 ends, that is, with the section closing out. For me, what often happens is that the whitewater pushes the board toward the beach and out from under me. Perhaps there's a way to avoid that?
A tip from someone who only surfs Rhode Island close outs: it helps me to just get low! I like to squat toward the middle of the board and sometimes grab rail. Sometimes you can duck your head into it for a little shower 👍🏻
I really appreciate you reaching out and letting me know!! Trying to slowly but surely get better equipment to improve the quality of these, plan is to get them looking better and better!! Really appreciate that once again 🤙🙏
Thanks for this Ben. I have a question for tip time. Can you explain any differences in style for popping up in steeper waves as opposed to weak flat smaller waves? The reason I ask is I have noticed with my own pop up… I have no problem instinctively popping up in steeper waves that have a little bit of power… but weaker waves I have to often use my toes to almost walk up…a little bit geriatric 😂🤙
It definitely depends on the boards the surf schools have - but they can be around 24 or 25 wide (BIG haha), some are less - width of this one I’m riding is 23 1/4 I believe 🤙
Hey! I’m using a slight variation of my fin made with South Coast Surfboards - the Ben Considine fin. We’re doing another fin however and this is one of the prototypes 🤙🤙🤙

@@connorappleby yup that works for me too, takes some getting used to, to fight the whitewater and keep your balance tho,
@@connorappleby +1

How wide is a beginner (surf lessons) board compared to what is seen used here?

What fin are you using here?
