I like the way you put a bit of practice into each session by not ruining having fun of surfing. I did the same when I practiced angling takeoffs and it worked well! Now I’m following your video to lean cross step! 🎉

Hey Ben, this is really helpful. Do any of your videos show the steps from above so we can see how your shoulders are aligned and where your feet land? I’m practicing a lot on land and want to make sure that the awkwardness when I’m in the crossed position is normal and that I don’t have my feet in the wrong place. Thanks.

Thank you! I’ve yet to learn to cross step, I’m going to try doing this, thank you so much, great to have heads up on the not rushing before I even start! Excited to try this. Thanks for all your great content 🤩

    Hi Ben,
I got a question, what about your look direction? Do you normally look at the wave or look to you nose? Is this something we should also practice?

Thanks! Whenever I’m unable to surf for about a month, I feel like I’m starting over. With this video, I realize I just have bad fundamentals. Do you think that after a rainy season out of the water, I’ll get to the point that I’ll actually come back and surf?Other sports I do better in, surfing I feel like I just start back from square one! By the way, yesterday, I surfed with a single focus; seeing the wave both on the paddle in and watching the wave build down the line. Fun! It was a lot easier to keep the board in trim.

Thanks a lot Ben for all your advices, it helps me a lot. I have a question a bout positioning the back foot du ring the turn. Is it better To put the foot right over the fin or just in front of it? I'm surfing a 9'4 single fin. Thanks again, Florian

I find it helps to shuffle a step back first before initiating the first step
But i do find it hard on the wave face more likely once it has broken at the end of my ride
