    People say it was Street Fighter V and to a degree they are right, but I think the real reason was Mike Ross butted heads with Capcom over ideas for a show on Twitch, which turned Mike Ross completely off the game and his disdain for it ultimately made him leave excellent adventures as well. Gootecks tried to keep it going but it wasn’t the same after that.

      It's inevitable that a new SF is going to come out and not everyone will like the next SF game like SF3 to SF4 a lot of pros didn't like 4. They could have played another FG but none stuck because they didn't like it and gooteks was and still is tired of SF4.
      It's pretty sad that some people blame SFV but it is not what killed SFV, it was them depending on SF4 with no backup or other interest that they both liked enough to keep the series going

    • @augustgreig9420
      @augustgreig9420 4 роки тому +3

      @@HMNNO SFV really sucks though. No chip death, no meter less reversals... Those are things that have always been in SF and 2D games in general. The roster suck, the combo system doesn't allow creativity (just look at the lack of Desk videos or Sako combos) and the graphics are bad. It's not a good game. They had to make Seth really strong to milk more money out of the community. The fact you see many pros streaming old games instead of SFV tells you everything you need to know.

    • @SoulWarriorSF
      @SoulWarriorSF 4 роки тому +1

      @@HMNNO Bro 5 is complete trash and not fun at all. Worst SF game ever...There is no personality in the gameplay "combo wise", slow, easy combos and V- trigger is the worst comeback machine of all time. Like what the fuck

    • @beganfish
      @beganfish 3 роки тому +2

      @@augustgreig9420 That is such a dumb take. Chip death is what makes a fighting game good? Also, there is almost never any creativity when it cmbos to combos in the first place, there is always an optimal combo, it's just a matter of how hard that optimal combo is. If it's too hard for most players, they come up with an easier, less optimal combo for themselves instead, that isn't creativity.

    Excellent Adventures was an awesome ride that actually got me into playing Street Fighter IV. Though it’s sad it had to end I prefer them being honest about the spark being gone and calling it a day rather than trying to phone it in. What I always respected was how genuine Mike and Gootecks were on the show. There were episodes where they’d just lose repeatedly but they didn’t do any fancy editing to remove the losses or cover things up, and I always respected that. I hope they’re both doing well and who knows, if SF6 is good we may see them play together again in a similar format or just a one-off. Either way thanks for the memories guys. The ride was indeed Excellent.

      @@joncliffmckinley5868 You've been brainwashed by buzzwords and name-callings about people you don't even talk to. They aren't intolerant. They are not coming for anyone and especially not you in particular. They are just REGULAR people that voted for him because they didn't like the establishment (and the establishment didn't like them either... Hence all the Trump defamation campaigns 24/7 on mainstream media.)
      Maybe if you stopped isolating and start talking more to people with an open mind, regardless of their beliefs and political alignments you'd realize that.

    Even though I didn't get into the show until a bit into SFV, I absolutely loved seeing those two play SF4, which I never really touched. I'm so glad Mike Ross is back with Xian and giving us those classic Excellent Adventure vibes, just enjoying fighting games with a friend.

    Man Excellent Adventures was hilarious, easily one of my favorite shows on UA-cam, i hated when Mike left but i definitely understood why. You have to be true to yourself and do what YOU enjoy doing. I'm happy that apparently he and Xian are doing a new show, i'm definitely going to watch.

    It's really sad to see people still attributing the bulk of Mike's burnout to SFV. He didnt like the game, and that's clear, but hes said in the past that it was esports that killed his enthusiasm. He saw this community that he helped build get turned into a sanitized, suit-and-tie bullshit and said "nah I'm good".

    I really did enjoy the episodes of Excellent Adventures, and I always looked forward to an episode each week. But this is just my take on it, reason for the fall is yes, they weren't having fun, but I guess also..They didn't want to sell out to esports. So I guess you can say they were stubborn about their passion for the FGC.

    Honestly I think cross counter would've been fine if there recipe and the reads kept going (on their channels). I genuinely felt it rivaled EA even with games I didn't particularly care for.
    It was honestly a pretty big gutpunch when Mike "Mike Ross" Ross left/went radio silent, from almost out of nowhere. It felt so weird, and any attempts at watching his streams a bit after that was just him babyraging in tekken 7 or apex. It wasn't like comedic anger, it was just pure raw sodium, and so offputting to what I had grew to know. Even worse was his random appearance on gooteck's podcast with slasher, joking about Etika maybe a week or two before what happened to him. What a fall from grace in my eyes, but also respect to him to doing his own thing, and seemingly doing well for himself.
    In gootecks case it's just honestly kind of sad what happened to him. He seemingly did it to himself, and even hearing him on that one discussion thing with fanatic about covid awhile back was just a sad sight, and well sad to listen to. I really hope he's able to get himself together.
    While it's sad how things ended, these two (and their guests) brought so much enjoyment, and happiness for about 6 years of my life, on a basically weekly basis, through some especially dark times, and I'm ever grateful to them. While a lot of the SFV stuff was pretty mixed, the "no flex zone" nonsense with chris G was honestly pretty hilarious, as well as the match with the bot. "ENDDDD HIMMMM". And as a closing statement EA, honestly shaped a lot of my humor almost as much as the simpsons did. "Yo check this out"
