Bill pretty much always just cared about his team. In The Sacrifice, the beginning of the campaign starts out with Zoey digging into Bill for ditching a bunch of people to guarantee his team’s survival.
It’s also possible that after learning about them being carriers, Bill knew the only way to truly “save others” and themselves was to isolate themselves on an island. Plus, after learning the military can’t really do anything for them, Bill knew it was hopeless. I mean, even in the sacrifice he has a line saying (and this is copied from the wiki), “Dammit, Zoey! We trusted CEDA! We trusted the military! And they left us to die! Do you think they'll ever let us back in? We're on our own, kid. It's high time you started actin' like it."
Plus, this group has already gone through disappointment after disappointment. They had to fend for themselves since the outbreak hit, CEDA tries to downplay their situation to the rest of the uninfected world, and the army wants to capture them and study them to find a cure and if they can't then their best option is to kill them as they are simply smarter infected. Also, according to Francis, after they were rescued by the boat in Death Toll, they were immediately robbed of their weapons and kicked off and left to die, which you can actually see is the case as in Death Toll's finale, you can look out into the distance to see a burning city, Newburg, and if you look out in the distance from Dead Air's starting roof, you can see Riverside's mountains, showing they were literally just boated across the river for their guns. Bill's probably had enough with the world being against them by the time they escape Millhaven to the point that he'd literally do anything to keep his group alive, even leaving behind another carrier who is a doctor.
@@SkyBorik I don't think so, friend. There's a difference between RNG and AI Storytelling. First is just a roll of a dice, the second is tailored exactly to the player.
To clarify, the payday no mercy heist is canon in payday 2, however it is NOT canon to left 4 dead, as the virus isn’t really the same (specifically it’s more like a super soldier serum that after basically a strength high, they slowly die), and the hospital gets basically destroyed by murky water PMCs

Thank you so much for the compliments! As for your question, I can actually answer that. Louis is asking Zoey if they should've told the l4d2 survivors about the military trying to kill carriers, I'm guessing Zoey decided to not divulge that information in order for the second group to not be discouraged or because she didn't know if they were carriers or not.

44:24 Hold on... The purgatory is not a middle ground, not really. If I remember correctly, it is the "hell" of those who regret the bad they did. Basically the purgatory has the same punishments if the sin is the same, however there is an end unlike in hell. The time you stay in purgatory depends how distant is the moment in which you regret your bad actions and start being good and the moment you die. Basically, if you sincerely regret something bad right before you die, you go to purgatory with the longest time. Another thing that reduces the time is the amount of living people that pray for your soul and that keep praying. I guess it is a way to prove you've done good because if you did, the people would pray for you which means less time spent in purgatory. Once the time has ended, you are granted access to heaven. All this comes from my memories of Dante Alighieri's Divina commedia. But I could be wrong.
Purgatory is where you go if you’re redeemable, but haven’t fully embraced God. Purgatory is supposed to end at the same time for everyone within, after a purifying fire. Dante’s writings were flights of fancy that were divorced from even fundamentalist doctrine.

Yeah I think that’s the jist of it. Bane is the only victim of the green flu as he goes zombie mode and slaughters all his kidnappers before succumbing to the virus, after which is body is buried and presumably the virus dies with him, and left 4 dead never happens
Maybe the original ending for dark carnival was the gang escaping on the midnight riders tour bus, the model for the bus is seen in the passing. The "Hippie" could have been a roadie for the midnight riders.
Well, one of the Midnight Riders names just so happens to be "Dusty" 39:14 (evidence of this can be found throughout the Dark Carnival campaign showcasing the Midnight Riders promotional posters and billboards) so my personal theory is that Dusty was the last remaining member of the band (as there is no mention of the others) and offered to help out the survivors. The finale would have most likely been a timed standoff just like the one we got in the base game, except you would escape via the tour bus as opposed to the helicopter. This was most likely scrapped however due to the fact that Nick's voice lines suggested that the survivors would leave the hippie behind, which would go against the other characters moral beliefs and would cause a bit of controversy between the 4 survivors, mainly Coach and Ellis since they are such big fans of the band and wouldn't exactly be willing to leave behind somebody that they most likely idolized. It just simply wouldn't fit their characters. Still a cool idea though.
I think the hippie is a roadie and not actually dusty, he might have been some sort of super fan and the line referring to dusty could’ve been something the hippie made to honor him like a statue or something that you need to return to the hippie in exchange giving you the bus to escape
surprised how there's no theory of how the director is a literal movie director since the levels in left 4 dead are movies like the game often suggests (poster loading screens, credits rolling, etc)
@@loaduscoolclipz5505 this makes the most sense seeing as how the credits of each level are movie credits. but you also have to take into account the "In memory of: " credits, displaying the survivors who died and "(x) zombies were harmed during the making of this film".
45:53 I always interpreted these lines as him helping other criminals. A simple killer wouldn't have applied first aid before the game's events like Nick says he did, and like you said yourself, he's not the enforcer type.
werewolf vincents behavior sounds awfully familiar....like that of one person who had no self-awareness who got themselves in trouble and is now serving time hmmm....
The Purgatory theory would say something about Bill’s (sad) death about him making the ultimate sacrifice, proving himself eligible for heaven. But I feel the cannon is him ending up in a hell (the entity’s sandbox)
7:26 there’s a deleted line for Nick during the gun shop in dead center that says “im not legally allowed to own a gun. hope you guys are okay with that.”
I have a guess with what the entire interaction for the Dark Carnival Hippie was. Nick mentioned a tour bus, a garage, and how Ellis was a mechanic. I have a theory that the Hippie found the Midnight Rider's tour bus, but needs help from other survivors to repair it. The finale might have been another scavenge scenario with the group of survivors going backstage to find the necessary parts for making the repairs. The Hippie's ultimate fate is unknown, but I'd like to believe he either chose to stay behind or was cornered by the infected while in the control room, sacrificing himself to save more people. Honestly, the concept seems very interesting. I wish more campaigns included an NPC you interacted with part way in the campaign, similar to Whitaker or the Bellboy.
bro the Meatwall looks scary as shit, i think having some sort of weak point on the enemy would be better rather than just holding left click like you do with tanks.
Omg the plane crash things Vincent did is not okay at all... The crash you mentioned happened in my country. Someone made a post about "supernatural experiences" related to it on our reddit-equivalent forum, which later was found to be fictional (many things didn't add up). Forum readers were furious because it's so screwed.
50:20 I’m actually gonna say,if you read Sacrifice and then played The Passing, you’d literally hear Zoey say “Louis can’t come down,he’s got a bad leg”
If you want the liminal feeling, I found it's best when your whole team is dead like your the last one standing and you're in the mall? Oh man that hits different. Trust me, if you want the fullest experience don't kill your teammates just so you can feel it, it ruins the huge liminal experience you'll get. Have them die to the infected or something, like it just hits different. You're always supposed to have at least one person with you in a group of four against a huge amount of zombies or infected, then? You're all alone no teammates, no infected, just you, completely alone in a mall or city. That is when it hits hard trust.
Nick saying he's "not legally allowed to own a gun" doesn't mean he's a murderer. Just a felon. Given his gambling past, not exactly a stretch to say he could've done some time for gambling.
I’ve personally met werewolf Vincent a couple times, dude is genuinely the most fucked up and oddest individual, let alone the oddest furry I’ve met. I can’t even begin to explain how absolutely ridiculous this guy is.
i just got back into the game literally not even a week ago, and watching this iceberg, reminded me of so many good times i had, also watching videos about Left 4 Dead, this is amazing!
Zombies suddenly dying is caused by their AI taking too much "stress". Turns out not only the tank can suffer from death by stress, common enemy could also die by stress.
40:33 my guess about the scrapped hippie is that you would need to get a tour bus for him based on audio surrounding a tour bus being put into a garage then you would be able to progress
all payday crossovers are canon to payday, so in the payday universe, 4 maniacs raided a hospital containing patient 0 of the green flu that ended up being bombed, so it didnt spread in the payday timeline
While the No Mercy heist has been made cannon in Payday 2, the detail of the blood sample has been changed. It is likely no longer the green flu, but it is something else and it is the virus that they infect Bain with.
Another layer of the "Bill is dead" thing is a strange coincidence that the guy rumored to have replaced McCartney while having different last names depending on who you ask his first name is always William, or Bill. There's also a good amount of "clues" in their music and media referencing the name Bill
Bro it's nearly 2 AM for me and I can't stop fucking laughing at 53:07. It really shouldn't be this funny. Anyways, this was a really interesting video and showed me there's still a lot of stuff I don't know about this game after playing for 12 years.
The L4D1 and 2 survivors actually kill more zombies than the angels of death, considering the tally is only about 600, and the survivors kill 1000-ish every campaign
For anybody wondering about those golden crowbars, there is one hidden in every survival map. Equaling to 21 total. To get the Golden Freeman achievement you have to find it in each level.
42:28 I’m getting more the idea nick accidentally got one of his buddies killed by someone they scammed and he had to clean the brains out of his suit afterwards, and saying he’ll kill Francis is more just empty threats, more fitting of a paranoid personality I think nick has
I think I actually remember someone saying that video being an advertisement for toy guns centered around those characters. No idea if it’s true though so take that with a grain of salt.
I'd like to mention that the midnight riders album ten past midnight might be a reference to the doomsday clock. The doomsday clock is a measurement by a group of people that measures how close we are to the apocalypse, midnight on the doomsday clock is the end of the world.
Bringing up the apocalypse thing reminded me that in hard rain Coach does make a reference to the Bible “First the plague and now a flood? I feel like I should be building an Ark!”
I unfortunately do not have time to watch this as I am very tired and want to sleep. I’ll add it to my watch later and edit the comment when I get around to it though Edit: Jesus Christ the werewolf Vincent one, talk about being fucking mental holy shit
The thing with the DBD one is that when the entity takes its victim, the body is never found. So if DBD was Canon in l4d, Bills body would’ve been gone. But obviously we see Bill‘s body in the passing so to me that’s what makes it not canon.
Bill's backstory/lore in DBD also contradicts all known lore in L4D. It's canon to the DBD universe but not canon to the L4D universe. Basically, the Bill in DBD is a different Bill than ours.
nick was realesed from prison because when you go to dead center at the gun store section he can sometimes say that he isnt allowed to own a gun and asks the other survivors if its ok
also the nick being a murderer theory is not so far off, even the survivors say at some point they aren't shocked he is good with a gun, but again he could have been a ban robber and practiced it not necessarily a murderer considering he helps the other survivors and feels bad when they die

We need a L4D spinoff focused on Chicago Ted
Lol
Like the Resident Evil Hunk mode
Theres also that One Survivor who killed 12 infected with Barehands he must be Trevor or John wick
who really is the director is the director responsible for the survivors traveling through other zombie franchises? We need a director Lore lol
No,its just a goddam god-like probably sociopath AI with reality manipulation powers
surprised how there's no theory of how the director is a literal movie director since the levels in left 4 dead are movies like the game often suggests (poster loading screens, credits rolling, etc)
It’s gotta be the guy on the computer in last stand he’s just acting dead when you’re trying to break in
@@loaduscoolclipz5505 this makes the most sense seeing as how the credits of each level are movie credits. but you also have to take into account the "In memory of: " credits, displaying the survivors who died and "(x) zombies were harmed during the making of this film".
@@diogod2347 sounds like the government
I like how L4DS has three survivors with japanesey names and then there's just Blake from HR
When the world needed him most, he came back
I am quite happy you stuck with your word on making another video. It’s been awhile and you really made me happy when I saw this.
that vincent airplane guy made me question everything that the human mind is capable of.....
@@Brackets_Guy coming this summer, experience the cringe like you've never seen before!
werewolf vincent is just an obsessive watcher of air disasters on the smithsonian channel
35:43
Narration: "The campaign is designed specifically to make you co operate with your team."
Gameplay shown: "Are you sure about that?"
The Purgatory theory would say something about Bill’s (sad) death about him making the ultimate sacrifice, proving himself eligible for heaven. But I feel the cannon is him ending up in a hell (the entity’s sandbox)
39:17 "I bet hes got a working shower in there, and hes not even usin it" the way Nick said that is legendary my god
Werewolf Vincent has some serious screws loose and no marbles at all

7:26 there’s a deleted line for Nick during the gun shop in dead center that says “im not legally allowed to own a gun. hope you guys are okay with that.”
Is it really deleted? I am pretty sure I heard it once in-game.
@@kaganozdemir4332 it plays in game, i'm fairly certain.
"he probably has a working shower there but is not using it" 💀💀
there is a voice line for nick that was him saying that he stole pistols from cops when he was in high school
True, but there is still stuff that doesn't like up with the sacrifice comic, and the comic never features the sequel survivors either
I wish we had the dark carnival hippie storyline.. would've been awesome
Came for the Iceberg, stayed for werewolf vincent.
Perfectly justified.
ahh yes, charger coming at me at full force from the other side of the hall, my favorite liminal experience
I like to think that Nick was apart of a mafia or something.
Just watched part one last night!
Love keeping the pace right away
Zombies suddenly dying is caused by their AI taking too much "stress". Turns out not only the tank can suffer from death by stress, common enemy could also die by stress.
40:33 my guess about the scrapped hippie is that you would need to get a tour bus for him based on audio surrounding a tour bus being put into a garage then you would be able to progress
all payday crossovers are canon to payday, so in the payday universe, 4 maniacs raided a hospital containing patient 0 of the green flu that ended up being bombed, so it didnt spread in the payday timeline
"It ended when hunt down the freeman released"
welp, makes alot of sense
While the No Mercy heist has been made cannon in Payday 2, the detail of the blood sample has been changed. It is likely no longer the green flu, but it is something else and it is the virus that they infect Bain with.
Another layer of the "Bill is dead" thing is a strange coincidence that the guy rumored to have replaced McCartney while having different last names depending on who you ask his first name is always William, or Bill. There's also a good amount of "clues" in their music and media referencing the name Bill
Or, "one of those happy little apples" if you know what I mean
Bro it's nearly 2 AM for me and I can't stop fucking laughing at 53:07. It really shouldn't be this funny. Anyways, this was a really interesting video and showed me there's still a lot of stuff I don't know about this game after playing for 12 years.
Thank you beyond the iceberg video im interested to see what other videos you do next and I'm here for it keep it up 👍
I'm still convinced that Nick was the head of a Pyramid Scheme before the zombies
The L4D1 and 2 survivors actually kill more zombies than the angels of death, considering the tally is only about 600, and the survivors kill 1000-ish every campaign
Kind of sad that bill died fixing the generator but then got stuck on the Entities realm repairing generators for all eternity
The Tank theme when mentioning Khomchik is perfect.
For anybody wondering about those golden crowbars, there is one hidden in every survival map. Equaling to 21 total. To get the Golden Freeman achievement you have to find it in each level.
Now this is amazing man, fantastic work. Can’t wait to see what else you got in store
everything besides your take on the comic being in it's own timeline is pretty accurate. the comic is in the same timeline as the games man.
42:28 I’m getting more the idea nick accidentally got one of his buddies killed by someone they scammed and he had to clean the brains out of his suit afterwards, and saying he’ll kill Francis is more just empty threats, more fitting of a paranoid personality I think nick has
You forgot about the live action timeline where the survivors team up with Ghost, Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, Anya, and Scorpion.
That was actually featured in the l4d videos entry, I didn't go into great detail but the video you're talking about is impulse 76
@@fridaynights6637 Oh I know. I was just making a joke in regards to the alternate timelines section.
@@danielyoungblood3931 oh sorry didn't realize haha
I think I actually remember someone saying that video being an advertisement for toy guns centered around those characters. No idea if it’s true though so take that with a grain of salt.
52:13 “I saw a ghost looks exactly like Bill but it was so hard to see” kinda contradict his/her own statement.
I binged both these videos, loved them, you just earned a sub :)
I'd like to mention that the midnight riders album ten past midnight might be a reference to the doomsday clock. The doomsday clock is a measurement by a group of people that measures how close we are to the apocalypse, midnight on the doomsday clock is the end of the world.
as an OG pro l4d/l4d2 player who knows 100% of the lore you made a really great video bro.
Bringing up the apocalypse thing reminded me that in hard rain Coach does make a reference to the Bible
“First the plague and now a flood? I feel like I should be building an Ark!”
What if dead survivors become special infected when not brought back with the chest paddles
53:15 Ah I see we've reached the Fredrik Knudsen/Mister Metokur section of the iceberg.
Great video my dude
I loved part 1 and was awaiting this. Happy to say it didn't disappoint! I'd love to maybe do a collab on some other L4D2 content someday! 😁
Heck yeah man!
it’s kinda sad bill doesn’t get to go to heaven after dying, he’s sent to and endless hell of being chased by countless horrific murders
Fun fact: The midnight riders is just Mike M. (L4D, HL:A, Portal and TF2 Composer) with his friends just making music for the fun of it
I unfortunately do not have time to watch this as I am very tired and want to sleep. I’ll add it to my watch later and edit the comment when I get around to it though
Edit: Jesus Christ the werewolf Vincent one, talk about being fucking mental holy shit
Ey yo 29:30 I also used to watch a lot of Tats Top Ten back in the day. Ah, good memories.

Your voice telling the "ghost stories" is SOOOOO accurate 🤣😭
nick was realesed from prison because when you go to dead center at the gun store section he can sometimes say that he isnt allowed to own a gun and asks the other survivors if its ok
Keep making L4D content, love it and you should try to make content on whatever other series you like!
Thank you! I'm actually planning on doing that, I don't think another huge video like this will be coming soon but its still on the table
@@fridaynights6637 I’ll be there!!!
also the nick being a murderer theory is not so far off, even the survivors say at some point they aren't shocked he is good with a gun, but again he could have been a ban robber and practiced it not necessarily a murderer considering he helps the other survivors and feels bad when they die
Or he may have become a murderer in an act of self defense
man i love the really bitter lines of nick trying to communicate with a hippie
He's something that might be really in the deep black of the iceberg
