Informative and highly illuminating - especially resonant in this anniversary year during which many of Leonardo's drawings from the Royal Collection will be shown at many galleries across the UK.

Leonardo’s place of death is the Clos Lucé, the residence offered to him by the king Francis the first, near the Château d’Amboise. He is buried in a small chapel located in the gardens of the château.

“We know who this is” about Mona Lisa. Actually we don’t. The painting that Vasari describes as a portrait of Lisa del Gioconda and the Louvre Mona Lisa are most probably two different paintings. It has been proven the Louvre painting has been painted in one go, it has no earlier under painting layers. La Gioconda’s portrait of1504 is an earlier version of the Louvre painting which has been been painted later than 1504-06 and brought by Leonardo to France at the end of his life. The first painting is lost, unless Isleworth Mona Lisa which depicts a younger, prettier woman is that original portrait. The subject of Louvre Mona Lisa is still a mystery.

You are dense. She meant we know who painted it. You want on an idiotic diatribe, about oranges when she was clearly talking about apples. It’s obvious you just watched that same documentary that every one else watched and you’re so desperate to act informed that as soon as someone touched you, you just started vomiting

Oy, what bit you? Chill, it is just an opinion. No need to be rude.

How ridiculous to say 1 drawing is the best in history, I am tired of the cheap commercialisation of works of art. The rest is great.

I wonder that you even wonder about it when the answer is obviously no. People in her profession can't even distinguish between medium and technique at least when I hear them talk about art it seems that way and they talk about everything else but the actual craftsmanship.
It is funny on how much information and possibilities to experience especially old master art they miss out on by never practising the skills that go along with doing this kind of art.
As my skill in drawing grows the more nuances about drawing and painting I understand and the more I notice in drawings of great skill.
She can talk an hour about a collection of these drawings with a focus on history and material.
I can probably take one of the drawings or paintings and talk at least one hour about the thinking behind and execution of them.
