John Singer Sargent: From the Royal Academy to the MFA

    Although John Singer Sargent was considered British in England and American in the US, when he was elected to the Royal Academy in 1894, the artist told a colleague he still considered himself an American, declaring “I keep my twang.” Compare Sargent’s British and American paintings and patrons, including the murals he created in London for the MFA.

    This would have been amazing if the MFA would have cleaned up the audio before uploading the video. Running it through a simple filter would have done the trick and any social media manager with video editing capabilities or a good team behind them can do it. I would expect it of such a well known institution. Thanks for posting though. I look forward to more.

    The lecture is very interesting but almost impossible to listen to because of the terrible audio.
