Currently on view at the Gallery, the exhibition Leonardo: Discoveries from Verrocchio’s Studio explores Leonardo da Vinci’s early career as an independent artist in Florence and his apprenticeship there with the master sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio. Recognizing the collaborative nature of most of the works of art emerging from Verrocchio’s studio, Laurence Kanter, Chief Curator and the Lionel Goldfrank III Curator of European Art, has identified nine paintings as wholly or in part by Leonardo, shedding new light on the production of both of these groundbreaking artists. Generously sponsored by the Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund.
Followed by a book signing of the accompanying exhibition catalogue, Leonardo: Discoveries from Verrocchio’s Studio, Early Paintings and New Attributions, by Laurence Kanter. Receive a 30% discount off the purchase of Leonardo: Discoveries from Verrocchio’s Studio, Early Paintings and New Attributions during the program.
