Maybe you should pick the snails and eat them the way the French folks do or sell them. LOL. I did go out with a flash light and picked them off. My son said to pour salt at the base of the pepper containers. I will see tomorrow if this work. Thank you nfor sharing,

Vaseline mixed with salt smeared around rim of pot deters slugs. A bit messy but works. They don't like the salt.

A message from you bobbed up momentarily on my screen but I have not been able to find it again! I think it was about the green scourers.

Brave, holding the slugs in ur bare hands. I use a beak mouth pliers. And I make rounds at 12 am, 2 am and any time I think those sneaky blighters are near my plants

I had less slug damage this year but I'm not sure if that was because of the pellets or there were just fewer slugs around anyway 🤔

Thank you for your video on slug and snail control. I have recently tried putting flat green scouring pads down around my veg patch or around specific plants, so far this seems to be working. To keep them in place I have either pierced them with a tent peg and placed them in a row around the edge of the bed or cut a slit in them with a small hole in the middle to fit around the stalk of the plant. The good thing is they are reusable and harmless.

That's interesting, I guess it's the texture they don't like?? I suppose you need to ensure they can't get onto your plant from a neighbour plant? Thank you for the comment 👍😊

Hello your videos are very very helpful and extremely strait forward. Thank you! I am a novice container gardener who is enjoying the results so far. But, I happen to be extremely frightened of slugs and snails, can't explain it, I just am. Questions: I am using a cart on my patio which sits high almost at waist height where most of my containers are located. When the moist / rainy season returns soon, I will place a thick border of salt where my patio meets the grass and soil in my yard which is several feet from where my cart/containers are located. Do you believe that the use of high cart and the border of salt are good deterrents?

You're more than welcome. Thank you for the kind comment. Hmm, the height will likely deter slugs but I've found snails are more than happy to climb for their food. The height will certainly help and it being on a patio will also help (away from the grass where they hide). I've not tried salt myself but I'm very interested to know if it helps keep them away. Do you have any other plants in your yard?? They may go to those instead as it'll be closer and easier for them

@@AThornyPot How wonderful to receive your prompt response 😊thank you, thank you. I feel so much better knowing they are unlikely not to come so far over. And, to answer your question, "yes" there are other bushes in the yard, these are along the fence line far from my cart/container. Yes, salt from what I understand is a substance they won't tread towards and definitely not through.
