    Lets keep it real here.. substituting protein powder for tuna isn't the real reason why he gained weight.. especially not with those workouts Mike Rashid got him doing. Mike needs to make a surprise visit to ole boy crib and see whats really going on.

    • @championchuck777
      @championchuck777 6 років тому +2

      Beno C I think the cardio with weight resistance is still good ( the more muscle you have the more fat you’ll burn) but it’s up to Big Mikes integrity to hold the nutrition side up when Rasheed’s not around. You can lead a horse to water.. you know the rest.🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @beno9966
      @beno9966 6 років тому +1

      @@championchuck777 sure it's good but what's even better is losing weight without doing anything just because you get your nutrition dialed. That's where he should start, then integrate the gym in a manageable amount.

    • @championchuck777
      @championchuck777 6 років тому +1

      Beno C I agree, but he’s already active. Stopping someone like him at his health stage to just focus on nutrition alone, would have him throw in the towel and binge. It takes dedication and discipline to see nutritional results, and it doesn’t come over night. At least the fitness part will expedite things a bit faster for him.

    • @beno9966
      @beno9966 6 років тому +2

      @@championchuck777 I don't think he should stop I just don't think the endless cardio is the way. It's clearly not helping because he put weight on? He's a strong guy, get him squatting heavy weight, that will still burn fat, keep him strong and burn cals without feeling like he's entering a torture chamber when he enters the gym.

    I loved it! At 19:11 to see how red his eyes were. I fell on the floor laughing because I understood that type of pain and mental adversity against yourself. This is where trusting your coach in believing what he sees in you that can't be seen by yourself makes all the difference. Especially when all the voices in your head are telling and asking you "can you do more?, we can stop, you did a lot already, etc". tapping into the new you feels like it's suicide but, when you finish you can't help but ask yourself, "can I go a little further next workout"? Then somehow your coach becomes the voice in your head telling you like Mike "come on! I need more you can do it". That's a good friend and training partner. Thanks, Mike for sharing and friend for having the courage to go through the workout.

    I'm a bigger man myself. I've already lost about 70lbs. Yeah i come from an athletic background playing football during high school and couple of yrs of college. I basically had to go back to the basics by just getting up and walking. Of course now I'm building upon that to do more athletic things that make me uncomfortable. Big Mike keep doing your thing and stay on the course you'll get your goal. Thanks Mike Rashid, this is helping many people seeing someone else struggle with weight and keeping them focused on what's on the other side once it is all said and done.

    I’m all for intense training, but personally when someone has 100+ lbs to lose, I think it’s better to give them 3-4 simple exercises per workout and put a majority of the focus on diet. These workouts are so intense that his appetite is probably through the roof. So he’s likely cheating on the diet and not admitting it. I also worry about joint health with all the running. Just my thoughts 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @kobeballer
      @kobeballer 6 років тому +24

      That's corny man. Intense workouts don't increase appetites for everyone, some people say it makes them not want to eat. And even if it is, it comes down to discipline. If you are super hungry, eat some low calorie veggies so you can pig out and not take in so many calories. Increasing your strength and conditioning is never a bad thing.

    • @NickWaddell
      @NickWaddell 6 років тому +20

      kobeballer As a former athlete, my appetite was wayyyy higher after tough track practices than it is now just lifting weights/some cardio. That’s not up for debate, its simple. You’re burning way more calories. And I can also tell you that even though you’re burning more calories, it often makes it even easier to overeat. Why? Bc after a brutal workout, especially for beginners the last thing you want to think about is eating tuna broccoli etc. You’re hungry af and you’re gonna go for that pizza or wings. I agree with your point about needing to be disciplined but I’m just saying it’s much easier to get to that point if you start with a more reasonable approach. There’s no need to have a 300 lb man running miles on top of an already tough workout filled with sled pushes and supersets. Focus on one thing at a time

    Big Mike, I'm rooting for you but I can see it in your face and the excuses your trying to give that you want to give up. I've been on all three sides skinny, muscular and obese, so I understand what's going through your head. This is when you NEED to REMEMBER why you're doing this and the GOALS you need to achieve. I am on my own 100lbs journey, I started at 341lbs and I am down to 330lbs in 10 days. You can do this man just remember DEDICATION / PERSEVERANCE.

      2 things.. 1 he had said he started losing before starting this training.. so the initial water weight was probably lost.
      2 he weighed himself in sweat drenched clothes after probably drinking half a gallon of water during workout.. gonna have a false reading.
      Now don't get me wrong.. a can of tuna alone ain't gonna cause a real weight gain.. so if he legit gained 3.2 pounds. Then he's either eating way too much salt and retaining water.. or calorically is iff.. either starving himself or going into surplus.
      If next episode he's down 10 pounds. Well know it was just a bad weigh in at gym.

      Michael J. Schaefer Two things. One, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Two, Big Mike should be under 290lbs right now regardless. He’s doing something wrong. It’s been 4 week for christ sake. I’ve seen multiple people his weight drop 20-30lbs in 3 weeks eating in a deficit while working out. Big Mike is somehow gaining weight. His clothes don’t matter, stop making excuses for him.
