1,500HP M1 Assault Breacher in Work

- Engineers with Alpha Company, 91st EN conduct breaching operations and clearance missions with the M1150(M1) Assault Breacher Vehicle during the Multinational Training Exercise, Combined Resolve III.
Based on the M1 Abrams-chassis(55 tons) with a 1,500 horsepower engine these tracked vehicles were especially designed to clear pathways for troops and other vehicles through fields and roads.

This is perhaps the best land vehicle idea I have ever seen the military make so far. I was in the US Army as an M1 Abrams tanker, so I already like the vehicle it's based on, but all of the parts of the vehicle really work in a way you don't have to hold back when operating. Note the speed of the driver using the plow, on a normal Abrams you have to go slow because the detachable mine plow sits up farther than the ABV's plow. The lane marker poles it shoots out are made of hardened aluminum, and can penetrate hard packed ground. The two long rectangular boxes on the rear of the turret are chaff flare dispensers to defend against aircraft missile locks.
I'm sorry sir but this vehicle is actually meant to make rows for garlic and potatoes. The tubes on the back are for launching beer cans for your buddies. It's in the brochure.👍

The concept has been around for a long time. In my time, it was done with M48 and M60A3 chassis. It was known as the M728 CEV and worked in conjunction with the AVLB. We hoped for the M1 chassis but the Army and politics took to long and were still Mickey Mousing around by the time ETS rolled around.
1,500hp but still rocking the M2. You can't beat perfection.
What kind of barrel is that on these m2’s?
@@thevoid511 Same old barrel, that's a blank firing device fixed to it.
They shoulda put the M135 main gun from the M728 CEV on it. That's a crazy gun, 65lbs of High Explosive Plastique makes a heck of a boom. At Ft. Benning in 1987, the 72nd Engineer Co. of the 197th Mechanized Infantry Brigade (Heavy), conducted the only live fire Qualification Range ever to be allowed on that post. I was gunning the one of the M728s on a Night Fire table, and scored the only real direct hit on the M48 target tank, and the round demolished that tank, entirely. We caused so much damage to that range that Range Control never allowed us to live fire those guns on Benning ever again.

When going through barbed wire it is probably not a good idea to have a soldier outside of the turret since it looks like the wire can slide over the tank surface straight to him/her.
no. it is not so high and it is a serpentine - it immediately twists when it breaks - the structure is too rigid.

Contractor: how much power do you need

These guys breaching an antitank ditch, many I gota say, those are real wimpy AT ditches. I've crewed M728s working in tandem with D7 dozers and we dug serious AT ditches man, they were deeper than the top of the cab of the dozer. The dozer would grab a bite of earth, push it forward and up to ground level, then back up for another bite, and we would use the blade of the M728 to push that dirt to form a berm on the friendly side increasing the effectiveness of the obstacle. Took the two vehicles and crews all night working without a break almost to dig about 250 yards of ditch across a fields flanked by wood lines. We finished early morning and moved off into the woods to make some coffee and take a break. A Canadian Scout Armored Car, they were made by Cadillac Gauge I believe, I forget what the Canadians called them. But we heard it first, then saw it bust out of the wood line across from us, and drove right out and fell right into the AT Ditch. It came in at an angle and just nodes in rolling over onto it's side. None of the guys were killed, but damn they were beat up. US Army would have court martialed someone over something like that, but the Canadian Regimental Sergeant Major drove up, looked down into the ditch and said " I bet they don't try and do that again".
10000 earthworms just died in the making of this video.

I think the more likely question is...
“Whyyyyyyyyyy?!”
I'm surprised they don't have a Main Gun. Engineers sure have balls of stone.
I'd like to have one of these for my garden and high traffic days.
Smells like freedom
Thank you for sharing this video, This would tear the hell out of some yards and it would be like a really fun machine to operate.
Who would have guessed a tracted vehicle with a blade in front of it would work so well at moving dirt.
Just wait till some good rain hits that dirt.
Right ! The grass roots had held the top soil in place but now with heavy rain the loose dirt will turn into a mud pit that the heavy tanks will sink down into . If they had a vehicle that lay down temporary metal grates then it would make traversing the plowed ground with heavy equipment much more efficient .
@@mannybruce8950 honestly I wouldnt doubt if they had an specialized device for that
It's meant to be thrown in mud and water and all its a tank with 1500 hp the only way you're gonna get stuck is if you button it out which they could prolly use the blade to pick it up and walk it out
Yes. You could see the tracks spinning in this video anyway... Perhaps use better grousers, but that will chew up any roads travelled on before and after the clearance operation...
I bet these soldiers are having a blast in their training.
Oh I want some of these, could make roads to all the coolest places, you'd have to have a 4x4 or a 🐎

@@JoeOvercoat Yep, the only way to truly protect a field is to patrol it with a tank.
I bet you that area smells amazing. The soil and trees and jet exhaust? Exquisite.
It’s crazy how such a sexy tank could be so intimidating 😟
I like that when it’s plowing, the dirt gets pushed to the sides and covers the tracks that way a middle or explosive can’t blow the tracks up if shot at

If only we spent as much on world peace, as we do on machines of War. What an amazing world it could be...
World peace will never be a reality. Human nature is to compete and fight. When was the last time you felt jealous, or angry that another person had stole your accomplishments, or perhaps slept with your intimate partner, and you wanted to beat the shit out of him or do worse? That is how the world always will be. The only way to 'peace' is through superior firepower. An armed society is a polite society. No criminal will dare rob a bank when all of the town residents are packing heat. Example: The obliteration of the Jesse James outlaw gang in Northfield, MN, in the September of 1876. Armed townsmen, one with a rifle, shot most of the outlaws dead and the rest were captured by sheriff's deputies at an abandoned farmhouse not too far away.
Now that's "Amachine" bravo
"We need to build a trench, quicker than any other one before"
Wait that's not the line?
Now this is the armoured bulldozer that guy needed on his rampage.
Вот кто в наших городах из газона делает грязище!
"How much bulldozer do you want on this thing?"
US Army: "Yes."
These look right out of 40k in all fairness.
I was hoping to see what one of these would look like plowing through a minefield. All the mines would be tilted away from the tank when they detonate so it may effectively clear a path in a minefield at almost 20mph
