Thank you for not using music for the entire video, its nice to hear the natural sounds like when the mechanics were getting the Mi26 ready for flight!
Those Maintenance mechanics are some real super heroes in my opinion. To know every part of that machine and make sure that everything is 100% precise and working perfect is amazing in itself.
Yupp! I hope they pay those boys handsomely because many lives and missions are at stake, being rewarded highly will surely have them check for specs of dust in areas I wouldn’t think of.

I remember when an American Chinook was damaged and couldn't fly and they (not sure who "they" are) sent one of these to fetch it. It carried that Chinook all the way to the home base. Seeing the Chinook dangling below this giant gave a real size comparison. Quite a sight to see
Truly amazing how older aircraft can also be used with newer aircraft. Just imagine what we will have in another 100 years. Can't even fathom such abilities... Thumbs Up!
I remember seeing one at Mt Hagen (PNG) airport in the late 90's. Just the size of the blades alone was crazy to see. It was massive. Sadly I didn't get to see it fly, but wish I had.
Magnificent Beast!! Horribly Complicated!! The Pilots seem quite cool and relaxed!! I can't imagine the skill and intelligence it takes to fly this Monstrosity!
I think this Belarusian helicopter is still of Soviet construction. On modern Mi-26, the entire cabin is already digital and the design already includes composite elements.

The Mil V-12 is by far the largest helicopter ever. It was the brainchild of the Soviet Mil Design Bureau. This airliner-sized rotary vehicle was able to carry almost 200 passengers and payloads thought to be impossible by helicopter. It had TWIN five-bladed 35 m (115 ft) diameter rotors!
Like visiting a technical museum. It would be equally impressive, if it had been a demonstration of the most powerful steam engine locomotive on earth.

I flew in one of these in East Timor in 2000. Not counting the crew, there were only 4 passengers, myself, 2 of my soldiers and 1 Timorese militiaman detainee that we were delivering to UN police in Dili (the capital) from Balibo on the border. I took a photo and we looked tiny inside the cargo hold. We were almost blown away by the rotor wash it was that powerful. 😂😂😂😂😂

That is what they do !
20,000+ horsepower over your head, but you have to manually crank a level 800 times to open the doors. That's Russian engineering.
Aber es funktioniert , das ist wichtig ...😏😂👍
Es verdad jajajajaja
C'est juste que tu peux ouvrir les portes sans avoir besoin de faire tourner le moteur.
It's there just so you can operate the doors without having to turn on the hydraulics.
Boeing and Airbus have similar systems.
That is probably only the manual backup. It likely has hydraulic pumps to do that when it is running.

The tail rotor looks like it can be used as the main rotor on a normal helicopter 😂
It actually is the size of a Hughes/MD 500 main rotor.

Yup... totally spaced on the interesting stuff.
When I worked ATC in Kandahar we had 3 MI-26's that operated out of the airfield. The MI-26 was a beast and always had to use the runway to take off.
I remember seeing one at Mt Hagen (PNG) airport in the late 90's. Just the size of the blades alone was crazy to see. It was massive. Sadly I didn't get to see it fly, but wish I had.
So impressed with the hand crank to open and close the rear hatches.
Because you are really soy boy...
Hand crank drive is used only when there is no pressure in the hydraulic system.
3:05 I love the camo - green - flowers pattern of the pilot seats. They looks very cozy like my grandma chair.

Same skill and intelligence set for every helicopter, only this one much bigger but the principle of flying remains the same.
It’s not complicated to fly from other helis
I’m sure it’s not so bad for the pilot now the maintainers on the other hand.
I like that they wrote danger in English.. yes ruskis be scared because we are dangerous
so scared that every time they do a close flyby, the media is full of headlines like "dangerous maneuvers", "intercepted near", "drop fuel at" ...

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed. It is the only thing that ever has.
This is why the earth spins, the rotational inertia of this behemoth taking off and landing gives the earth a nudge.
