    Those Maintenance mechanics are some real super heroes in my opinion. To know every part of that machine and make sure that everything is 100% precise and working perfect is amazing in itself.

      Byś się bardzo zdziwił, gdybyś znał prawdę o tych mechanikach. Zostali wyuczeni robić wszystko według instrukcji. Większość z nich jest po kilku miesięcznych kursach na dany typ samolotu i zostali przeszkoleni do wykonywania tylko kilku określonych czynności. Dobry mechanik lotniczy musi mieć lata doświadczenia i mieć do tego dryg i zamiłowanie (talent and passion). Oraz licencję na każdy typ samolotu który obsługuje. Licencje są podzielone na różne kategorie.

      It's there just so you can operate the doors without having to turn on the hydraulics.
      Boeing and Airbus have similar systems.

      That is probably only the manual backup. It likely has hydraulic pumps to do that when it is running.

    I remember when an American Chinook was damaged and couldn't fly and they (not sure who "they" are) sent one of these to fetch it. It carried that Chinook all the way to the home base. Seeing the Chinook dangling below this giant gave a real size comparison. Quite a sight to see

    When I worked ATC in Kandahar we had 3 MI-26's that operated out of the airfield. The MI-26 was a beast and always had to use the runway to take off.

    I remember seeing one at Mt Hagen (PNG) airport in the late 90's. Just the size of the blades alone was crazy to see. It was massive. Sadly I didn't get to see it fly, but wish I had.

      Hand crank drive is used only when there is no pressure in the hydraulic system.

    I think this Belarusian helicopter is still of Soviet construction. On modern Mi-26, the entire cabin is already digital and the design already includes composite elements.

      It was Soviet empire. With thousands of tanks and missiles but with no meat on shop shelves... I liked some soviet planes but none of them are used now because of high fuel consumption. USSR had unlimited oil supply.

    The Mil V-12 is by far the largest helicopter ever. It was the brainchild of the Soviet Mil Design Bureau. This airliner-sized rotary vehicle was able to carry almost 200 passengers and payloads thought to be impossible by helicopter. It had TWIN five-bladed 35 m (115 ft) diameter rotors!

    Saw one in Kandahar… On the ground, the rotors really dip towards the Earth… It’s only when the rotor had spins that they go horizontal. It’s basically a helicopter version of a C-130.

    Tive a oportunidade de visitar a fábrica da Rostvertol em Rostov-on-Don, em 2014. O tamanho desse helicóptero e de seus antecessores (Mi-6 e Mi-10) é sinistro! E o cockpit me pareceu tão grande quanto o de um Boeing 767. Uma maravilha da engenharia aeronáutica soviética!

    I flew in one of these in East Timor in 2000. Not counting the crew, there were only 4 passengers, myself, 2 of my soldiers and 1 Timorese militiaman detainee that we were delivering to UN police in Dili (the capital) from Balibo on the border. I took a photo and we looked tiny inside the cargo hold. We were almost blown away by the rotor wash it was that powerful. 😂😂😂😂😂
