From what I understand, Fair Isle crochet is when the unused color floats on the wrong side of the work, not when you carry it through with the loops of the previous row. Just in case someone else is trying to look up techniques by name!
It's so easy the way that You've explained it. This is the first time that I've understood how this is done, thanks to You. You're such a good instructor.
Very unconventional tutorial but it was way easier to understand then some of the biggest crochet channels on UA-cam. I tried following a master crocheter & I was totally lost . You explained it and showed how with ease.
The beginning stressed me out. Once you made it to the 2nd or 3rd row, it was very relaxing to watch. I think that I MIGHT 😂try this. The pattern would have to be super simple with 2 colors. Maybe I'll branch out. Thanks for introducing me to this.🤗
Idk if you know this and just don’t prefer it but on stitch fiddle you can have the “written instructions” along with the progress tracker so you don’t have to count it by yourself. I like the color blocks bc it’s visual but they also have it just in words. Anyway loved learning this technique you made it so easy to understand
Ive been trying to crochet for awhile but its been really difficult for me to get a hang of it, the way you show and explain everything made it so clear and made me so confident to try again thank you so much ^_^
Thank you for your video! I’ve been trying to get the courage to do intarsia tapestry for a while, and this video has been the kick I needed to finally try it out.
Ooh this is so interesting to watch the amount of detail and intricacy that goes into making this type of crochet project is amazing. And I’m definitely going to check out your Depop! The proud family was one of my faves growing up❤️
This is so easy to understand, thank you so much. I have never done anything like this but with your guide it looks so much more doable xD I am hyped to try it out!
I love this color work for blankets but wonder how you weave in tiny sections cleanly when you are finished, like your gray section. I struggle with this because both sides of blanket need to look clean. Thank you. Great instructions.
Great video! I already know how to do this but was curious if you did anything differently than me. Nope but I watched the whole video anyway, very relaxing and I thought you explained it well for people who haven't done this before!
I was so waiting for this to drop. Now I gotta go back to tik tok to see about this pic to graph video. Great video thanks for explaining I love intarsia I make totes with it. Tryna make a cardi so I came here to learn something new
great instruction! you did great. when you were explaining to carry over the purple/blue and said how some people would cut the yarn, you said "that's just nonsense". I laughed so hard lol, you are funny! I also use stitch fiddle and trying to figure out how to do it. also struggling with even edges. im used to carrying the yarn all the way through, but this way is a lot better.
You can invest in some yarn bowls so your yarn will not tangle. This tutorial is amazing!! Just like you 😊 Thank you for such detailed tutorials. Beautiful work darlin
Lovely tutorial. Appreciate your pointers and the way you refer to the graph. Question: do you sometimes yarn over and sometimes yarn under when you crochet? If so, when is it best to do either?
Hiiii thank u sooo much this is soo clear and helpful but i got a quest why do u cut from the main yarn chunks why can u just start with the big ball of yarn and cut when u want to swich color
I love this tutorial! Makes me so excited to start! I was wondering, though, how do you add tapestry crochet in your other works? (like a cardigan). Again, thank you so much for this tutorial. It's amazingly beginner friendly, and I'm in loveee!!
i restarted a big project using this method isntead of old one and its 100% better im just confused as to what do i do with the colours once i dont need them? how do i secure them so that they dont unwind?
Thanks for sharing. I literally just learned about tapestry crochet last month. I really wanted to try it, but I didn't understand the graph. You explained it perfectly. I want to make my own penny cardigan. I don't make patterns, so I might mess up the front. Would this graph fit a 2x? I would like to learn how to turn images into graphs. Do you recommend any videos that would help me? Again, thanks so much for sharing. I learned so much.
@@queenkayla28 no problem💖 to answer your question, it really depends on the yarn, your hook and your body. For example, I had to make mini side panels because I have a bigger chest so if I made 2 panels the same as the width of the tapestry alone, it would not fit me! It’s just trial and error !
thanks SO MUCH for this vid! i have one question. when you did the grey thread at the end, it poked through a bit on the back/wring side (at around 30:08). how do we make that not show when the project’s finished and we’re weaving in the ends? thanks again :)
Hi! Amazing video, I’m trying to use stitch fiddle but I can’t figure out how the size the products so it looks like the image but it’s doesn’t have 100 plus rows. Also did you pay to be able to select the colors you want? Thanks!
@@Diamond2021 hi love! Look to the left of the screen before saving your chart, there should be height and width options with toggle buttons and numbers. This is how u change the size. If you still can’t see it, I have a video tutorial on my tiktok that shows exactly how to do this! I hope that helps❤️
@@crochetcrys_ I see that but I can’t figure out (at least with certain images) how to make my tapestry small without it not looking like that image I want. For example if I wanted Penny Proud to be 50x50 it maybe not look exactly like her because the images needs to be more than 50x50 rows.
@@Diamond2021hey! Sorry for the late reply. To answer your question, unfortunately some pictures just don’t translate well if they’re too small. When that happens I either get a different picture or try really hard to edit the pixels after saving the chart. Alternatively, you could make the picture bigger than 50x50 and use thinner yarn (and a smaller hook) so that it’s still the same size you want it? I haven’t tried this yet but it should work! Also, I didn’t purchase anything to change the colours, you can do it for free after saving the chart❤
Omg this was so helpful!!😊 May I ask what how you do that on the laptop? I mean the numbered rows and stitches. (sorry for bad English, its not my native language😕)
@crochetcrys_ aaa that's so much work ahaha! I've been meaning to get into tapestry crochet but I hate doing that💀 I'll start with something small and easy ahah
I want to start my first tapestry soon, I didn’t know this method existed, I had only ever seen people carry the yarn, which although I don’t care about how the back looks, I didn’t want to do, because it just seems like a waste of yarn, so I was pretty much going to do it like this anyway. I’m just not sure what to do with one colour, the picture I want to do has an outline of black around the character (her eyes, her hair, her sweater etc…), so there are a lot of random single black crochets dotted around in most lines, most of them aren’t connecting/ anywhere near another black, so I can’t just pull the yarn across half the project each time, so I’m not sure what to do? Just cut it off each time maybe? Does anyone have any ideas?
No, she's using both top loops for all her single crochet rows. But many people including me always choose to use the back bump of a chain because it creates a v-shape with the other two loops of the chain, which makes the bottom of the work look nice and just like the edge of the top row would look.
wording makes a huge difference in the video, some channels word it too weird. to the point where it does make sense, here the instructions make sense. and alos added instrutions, most dont say that the 3 row will have the changes on the back
if you mean the penny proud cardigan, i didnt! unfortunately you cant put an already-pixelated graph into stitchfiddle. i just followed the graph on braceletbook site with no progress tracker (very difficult for beginners). but if you find the original pic un-pixelated, you can plug that into stitchfiddle !

Do you have a link to that attack on Titan tapestry you used as an example? No worries if not
I like your video but you do your yarn overs different.would that make a difference on the yarn overs?
Yes. That is a "yarn under" which makes your stitches look more like little x's. A standard yarn over looks like little v's.
Thank you but then? How to hide or what the strings in the wrong side at the end of the project??
Does it matter whether I loop my yarn under or over? I can't remember what those terms are at the moment.
you could find the center pull also instead of make a ball of yarn
Please which app or website do you use that shows you the pixel image row by row
