    Thanks for posting this, man !
    I guess it wants to cook off the soot.
    Another pain in the ass.
    Computers and tractors don't mix, as far as I'm concerned.
    Over an hour to do this crap. LOL
    Yeah, The manual doesn't even mention how long it takes.

      You're welcome! I have learned a lot since I posted this. When it starts, throw on a ground engaging implement, crank the rpms, and work the tractor as hard as you can. I have completed a regen in under 20 minutes! Ha

    Thank you for this video. I've got a 4066r and I noticed my soot level was at 72 percent. I still havnt got it into re-gen mode. Im assuming it will do it around 75-76% though.

    Good information, and it was helpful. My owner's manual doesn't cover my model or the auto-regen process in sort of detail. I've been hunting for this exact information and while your model is slightly different...it's close enough to be very helpful.

    I have a 2019 3038E in Germany. And my tractor doesn't has this regen button, only the 3 top buttons. Under the hood there is a DPF. Can somebody explain that to me ? I have a DPF but can't manually start the regen process ?
    With the middle button in the top row you can switch through different hour counters. Like engine hours, PTO hours, but even there is no soot level indication.

    I found that if you Put it in neutral with the parking I brake on and she will rev up higher and cut the time down by allot but I think you have to do that when you start the regen sometimes it'll be done in like 10 minutes

    Very helpful. I’ve got a 2020 4066R with 1053 hours on it and it’s going back in to the dealer with its 4th error fault in the last 500 hours. Hate that regen.
    The issue is that it automatically goes into regen and every other time, it won’t complete. Meaning, it only brings the soot level to 50% and then just decides that is enough and stops the process without intervention from me in any way.
    Damn thing’s computer needs dealer to reboot computer. Super annoying. Right now it only could get soot level to 75%. Arrrrgh

  • @thomasturk602

    The video was well rounded thanks! Has anyones soot level jumped up 70% in a 2 hour work session? Today the tractor regen'ed ,got down to 11% then after loading about 8 yds of stone and backbucketing for about 2 hours at 2500 rpm- the soot level jumped 84%. Seems like a alot? I just got this JD 4044M used with about 900 hrs and I know very little about DPF's... Or tractors... I also have a constant flashing caution with no other lights, any one have and ideas on this? I have a filter kit and new oil and hydraulic fluid on the way to overhaul but wanted to know how these caution signals should be regarded. Thanks

    Have a brand new 3039R diesel. The DFP high pres sens fault came on with explanation point light. Did the exhaust cleaning cleaning with dealer. To no avail the lights never went off. Still under warranty but the cost is the travel for dealer. Around $1300. I am pissed

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 роки тому

      Dang that's a tough pill to swallow! I'm sorry you are having trouble. How far away are you from your dealer? $1,300 seems expensive for transport! You may want to consider finding a utility trailer to haul it yourself. It wouldn't take much to tow a 3039.

    So I had indicator lights come on but didn't know to leave my machine running to complete a regen. Now the STOP indicator light is on and my dealer says I can't reset it myself, that I have to bring it in to the dealership to reset the system. Is there a way to do that myself? I need to cut hay and their shop is backed up for two weeks. The tractor has only 110 hours on it, that's ages away from needing a regen.

      I had the same with my 4052M. The regen is extremely poor...I’ve had multiple regents that take two to four hours to complete. One time I could not let it run, so I shut it off...long story short was that I had to haul to JD Service for a regen and a $400 bill.

    When it goes into regen does it hurt it to turn the throttle up a little ? Mine was regening at 1600 rpm and I turn mine up to 2200

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  3 місяці тому

      Not at all! Do it! Best practice is to push up the rpms and work it has hard as you can. I have found that ground engagement implements do the trick. I have completed one in 15 min before!

  • @EstorilEm

    That’s weird, our 2020 4066R exhausts out of a pipe kinda through the front frame structure. It still has the cutout on the hood, but it’s just got a flush green cap over it. I wonder what they changed to run regen through the same exhaust?
    Perhaps heat was too high on the old pipe location and to prevent igniting brush or something they just dumped it straight up? The new location is neutral enough that I can’t see that being an issue.

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 роки тому

      That's very odd. One would think that vertical exhaust during regen would make more sense than it being closer toward the ground. Maybe they found a way to reduce the exhaust temp as well? I know that when mine regens the heat is inasne. Maybe someone smarter than me will tell us in the comments.

    my 2014 3038e is doing an active regen after every 15 min or so of running. A light comes on and tells me to increase rpm to 1500. When I do, it' goes into regen and it lasts for about 30 min. The soot level goes from about 78% down to 72%. Should I try to do a parked regen?
    Need help. Thanks.
    Called dealer but all they would tell me it to bring it in.

    Why does mine do a regen almost daily. I try to avoid idling and operate it at a higher rpm but it still regens either daily or every other day. It only has 345 total hrs.

    • @markrossow9598
      @markrossow9598 3 роки тому

      I have a 2018 4052M, and I am completely disappointed with it due solely to the regen. The tractor, like yours, goes into regen virtually every day often multiple times a day, and the regen often takes hours...this is fact. It’s so frustrating as if you shut it down when it is running in regen you risk that it will require a regen that can only be accomplished by John Deere service. I’ve had to do this once which cost me some $400.

    How does the diesel get to the DPF during the burnout. I have read that fuel will be injected on the exhaust strokes of a particular cylinder. Good video thanks

    • @hphillips7425
      @hphillips7425 5 років тому

      I got the wording on a goggle search correct and come up with what they called direct and indirect. Direct uses a separate line to feed the DPF. Indirect puts it in the cylinder on the exhaust stroke

    • @hphillips7425

      You got me to thinking after watching your video. When you check your tractor look for a diverter valve for the exhaust. I remember you saying that nothing comes out of the muffler during the regen cycle. Thanks

      Indy Farm Life our was having issues we started at 78 percent but only went down to 60 percent after running tractor parked at 2300rpms for 2hrs. It wouldn't let me do a parked regen at the time. But later the tractor did a clean out and only got down to 54percent. I just changed the oil and cleaned out air filter and blew out other parts yesterday. We used tractor about 4hrs yesterday at a higher rpm and I noticed this morning our soot level is now at 3percent..

    So basically if you're working and at a critical point while operating your tractor and it goes into Regen mode you're basically stuck with your pants down at your ankles where there nothing you can do but let the tractor do its thing ?

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  11 місяців тому

      It's only an issue if you need to shut the tractor off and leave immediately. If not, then I use it as a major opportunity to work the tractor as hard as possible. The harder you work it during the regen, the faster it will complete the cycle. If you have the opportunity to do some serious ground engagement work when it is regen'ing, that's the best time to do it

      The way I understand it Two basic ways manufactured can meet current emissions standards. With these smaller tractors. One way uses the particular filter. With the Regen burning out process. The other uses the DEF fluid injected to get the job done. Massey choose the DEF fluid. Pretty much all the other went with the particular filter/ Regen. I would much rather just buy the DEF fluid and be done with it. I bet the cost of injecting diesel into the particular filter during the regen process. Would cover most if not all the cost of the DEF fluid. My only problem. There isn't a Massey Dealer in my area now.
