I went to buy a can am about 3 years ago. I heard this noise, knowing nothing about it, I walked away thinking it may need a engine rebuild. So instead I bought a money pit Sportsman 700.... 😂 Great!
Same issue on my Outlander 1000. Was fine when I loaded it on the trailer, drove about 18 miles of washboard dirt road, when to unload and made the same rattle. I assumed bouncing and moving back and fourth on the trailer caused those clutch weights to destroy themselves.
The washer was cut to allow it to sit flat. The surface is curved in one area and prevents the washer from sitting correctly. Cutting the washer solves the problem.

My ryker 600 sounds similar. I thought it was the motor first but pretty sure it's a clutch now. Thank you for posting

You are welcome!
Very educational video Sir,
Glad you think so!
I have a Commander 1000 and I don't have that noise but I will know how to fix it if it happens. Thanks!
Thank you

Thank you. Wondering what that was
I just bought a 2021 can am outlander 450 brand new and I already have that rattle. I took it apart I just need to work on those bolts now some how.
I just bought a 2023 can am 450... right out of the gate, it made that similar noise. Il be looking at it shortly.
Looking at a 22 x3 new that does the same thing
What where the torque specs on those nuts?
Just use an impact
And what happened to the clutch balancing?
If you get dog shims it's the same thing
my polaris 300 clutch noise does the very same thing
Is this 100% safe to do??
Why You cut Like that?
The washer was cut to allow it to sit flat. The surface is curved in one area and prevents the washer from sitting correctly. Cutting the washer solves the problem.
They are suppose to have play in them
Will it ruin the clutch if they don't have movement?
Ya did this and now wont shift
