    My son bought a brand new X3 turbo R 2 days ago. We went on a short ride today and this is the same rattle we heard also. Thanks for sharing the video and details on how to fix the issue.

      Thanks for watching. You wouldn’t think that all of that noise would come from something so simple. Use the heaviest grease you can find. If you have questions you can email me Ryan@m3offroad.com

    Wheres the link to the video that shows you where to mark the front drive shaft so you put it on correctly?

    My 2020 maverick sport max 1000r makes the same noise in lower rpm range in 2wd only. Still under warranty so taking it to the dealer in a couple days.

      @M3OffRoad  4 роки тому +2

      Definitely the same problem for sure. They will install a set screw in the spline to stop it

    @phil_1879 4 роки тому +1

    Great video...so the rear drive shaft does not need to be marked like the front end? You just put the rear drive shaft as far as it can go into the trans?

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  4 роки тому +1

      Yes you can put the rear on in any rotation. It’s only important for the intermediate in front of the carrier bearing to be in sync

    2019 x3 turbo base here. It's not bad when cold but after running the machine for 20 min or so is this sound like a grind rattle type that comes in on a slow acceleration from a dead stop to around 3000 rpm and then goes away as you speed up? You can hear it like basically where the gear shifter is but sometimes sounds like from the back to? 300 miles on mine. Still under warranty I wonder if leaders rpm in Kalamazoo has a TSB on it?

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  4 роки тому +1

      Yep that’s it for sure. Pull the side panel and hold the driveshaft while throttling the engine in neutral. Sound should go away when you put pressure on it. Grease the splines it will go away. If it’s under warranty service will do it for free.

      @@M3OffRoad just dropped it off at leaders rpm Kalamazoo for its 1st service and inspection.. Gave them a heads up. We will see what comes out of it. I told them the sound doesn't come into play until the driveline and everything is up to hot running temp.

      Thanks again. They heard it and exactly what you said. Hardly any grease on both splines. Packed it on w marine grade grease. Problem solved. Warranty covered.

    I get rattle when I hit the breaks i hear it in the rear, I jacked up my 2020 can x3 and I spin the rear tires and hear it coming from the diff/rear axles

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  4 роки тому +3

      that is the clutch ratcheting when the brakes lock. its normal nothing to worry about

    Do you like the charge tubes? I just got some. Did you do a BOV on it?

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  3 роки тому

      Yes we all run the charge tubes and blow offs.

  • @mynihilism

    What flaps do you have on it? My trailing arms are rock blasted raw already and its only got 45 miles on it.

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  3 роки тому +2

      Rockbloks but even that won’t help. Our trailing arms and radius rods are sand blasted. All you can do is put some WD or similar on them to keep them rust free.

    Mine started doing that and the whole rear end is Jerking real bad at very slow speeds..... once you speed up though it stops..... it makes a pretty bad clanking noise also and I only have 20 miles on mine...... haven't even rode it hard yet..... not sure if it's the same problem

  • @Mike-mn9xo

    How long does this last? Wouldn’t it be better just to get a greasable carrier bearing?

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  3 роки тому +2

      Unfortunately its not the carrier bearing, it is the spline connections on the drive shaft. We do not touch the carrier other than to remove the shaft.

    What type of grease exactly did y’all use ?

    • @lenhammermeister1287
      @lenhammermeister1287 4 роки тому +1

      Use a good waterproof grease for marine application it will last longer. Thanks for the question!!!

    • @M3OffRoad
      @M3OffRoad  4 роки тому +2

      The thickest you can find. Light grease will not help for long
